Well. Midas had warned him - well, told him… Wilibald just took it to heart as a warning - that there really was the God of the Earth. The idea was appealing and similar to what he had been keeping reverence of his entire life. He just did not know that there was a face that went along with the idea.

And boy was it a face! And it was attached to the largest body that he had ever seen. Intimidating? Oh yes. He wondered how such a body could even function but then, this was a God he was facing. A god that lived inside a pool.

And here he was, walking right out of the pool and let me tell you, that was a sight that this pony was not going to forget for a very, very long time. Eyes widened and his little heart beat furiously as he took a step back. He wanted to take many more than just that step though, he wanted to get out of there - if only to stop the patter of his heart that quite felt like it was going to give out any second.

Being told wasn’t enough, it just wasn’t. He felt breathless as he beheld the spectacle before him, a spectacle that began to address him once he was standing on the shore as well. He needed to remind himself that he was here for a job, a job that the kind Midas had entrusted him with and he needed to see it through. He could do this - he could talk to someone that was… significantly taller. “Quite the land it is too, sir - Midas spoke of it’s splendor when we met and truly, mere words had not done it justice - even in the voice of a king.” No matter what the size of the horse, what was growing out of their head or back, manners were important. And he liked the look of the smile on the God’s face but his chest still felt tight as he shook his head to try to clear some of the dizziness.

How embarrassing would it be to faint in front of their patron God!

He was asked then if there was anything else that was needed. “There was um…” Don’t falter now, Wilibald! He tried to get a handle on the way his voice was shaking as he tried to remember what it was that Midas had talked to him about. He prided himself on his use of words, on being able to address anyone with a smooth ease, but all of that was lost as he alternated between staring and trying not to stare. He hadn’t felt this nervous before! Not even when he asked the fair Marigold to go on a walk with him. “Um… oh, yes, sorry, sir. The Basin - the unicorn herd to the North? - and the Edge. Can either of them be trusted for alliances?” He wondered how many questions it would be polite to ask or how many would be too much, but before he could continue he was suddenly stricken with horror at how terrible he had phrased the first one. Oh no, this would not do. “Oh dear, I do apologize. I’m just a little nervous.”
