The queen would argue that the wall was Mirages, if perhaps only in her dreams at night. She thought of the monstrous, terrible creation as her own. Mirage had paved the way, but the painted girl had crafted it with her own blood, sweat and tears. The DragonHeart had ordered to build it, but Kahlua had seen the wall grow in her minds eye and go from imagination to reality. The Golden Dragon had led so many Glaziers before that had not even begun work on the wall, only the Sunshower had made it come to fruition. Yes, the wall was hers in so many ways, and yet now queen, she looked upon the thing with only sadness and something near disgust.

But although her face could not keep secrets, would spill everything she ever tried to hide to the world, Kahlua would never be so hateful as to claim the wall her own aloud. Only in dark shadows of the night would such things cross her mind.

A dragon call through the wood roused the queen's attention, waking her from what had been a fitful slumber anyways. She almost never slept well now, the shadows too reminiscent of too many frights and fears. Shaking her head to chase away any remaining weariness, the painted queen set off at an easy trot, her mind racing with possibilities and emotions- fear the most obvious among them all. It was the Dragon Queen come back to claim her throne. The very idea broke the painted girl's heart. She worked and toiled for this land, ached and bled, faced her fears and tried so hard to say strong; still, it never failed to pick at the back of her mind that the DragonHeart might return at any moment to take back what had been hers and Kahlua was finding, more and more, that she was not so willing to let it go now that she had it. But could she really fight the mare who could turn to a scaled beast, if that is what it came to? In neither physical prowess nor mental capacity, would the Sunshower win against Mirage. She had only her determination to save her now. Would it be enough?

But for all her worrying, her fretting and unease shown obviously in her features, the queen had nothing to worry when she finally broke the tree line and found her Glazier, both council and friend, standing with not the Dragon Queen, but the Dragon Queen's child. Having never had the pleasure of speaking to the twin, perhaps only seeing whispers of her through the trees from time to time, the current queen did not know her name. And, for the first time in all her life, Kahlua found that she was glad to see a foal. For even if the child was here to revenge her mother, she had some time before she would be large enough for such things. Kahlua's worries melted, replaced with the smile that was so much more befitting her personality.

“Dragomir,” she cooed happily, nodding to him, “You have returned a dragon to the Edge,” she added before turning back to the child. “Kahlua, and you?”
