I was not meant for the passions of youth.

Perhaps, had I more time for thought, I would have regretted my last foray into the Threshold more immediately. As it was, the commotion of the meeting between myself, Evangeline’s daughter, and Aurelia had left my thoughts spinning hard for a long time after the fact. I reflected on the situation as I walked, hooves pressing down warm spring earth. The smell of the storm, long extinguished, lingered in the air as I caught sight of the glass wall’s ominous shine.

Relief flooded my veins at the sight – home! As near to home as I might ever be again, at least. Slowing, I cocked a glance over one shoulder in search of my young companions. “Coming?” This directed both to Aylin and to the young filly I’d been unceremoniously named guardian of. Whatever my feelings toward her mother (all negative), I at least felt a duty to escort the girl to safety. In the Edge, I had no doubt of finding someone to look after her – someone far better suited than myself. I intended, all the same, to keep her near my side until such an individual was found, however. “It’s not much farther – see the wall? We are nearly home.” More enthusiasm than I truly felt rang in my voice, though I spoke with little more inflection than my usual dry tone. What was I bringing home, if not a mountain of trouble?

With a shake of my head I started forward again, eyes flickering to the young ladies as I moved. A part of me hoped fervently to meet someone of importance near the wall’s entrance – Kahlua, Resplendence, Kaj – unknown quantity, but allegedly my king. Any of them might be of some use, at least, in naming Aylin a member of the herd – as she had allowed to follow me, for the time being. I could not help but feel quite uneasy as the wall loomed high and crumbling in front of us, its jagged edges like the teeth of a creature long ago slain. But it was my home, and I had found no quarrel with my herd mates, save the one… I must trust in them, and in myself.

Uneasily, I paused near the entrance, ears all but trembling atop my crown.

@[Aylin]
@[Faeanne]

[ Probably someone who can accept Aylin into the herd, as well? And... whoever else. Hm. Ruske and Evangeline are going to be looking after Faeanne for a short time so I don't exactly need anyone who can help with her but... I suppose someone with baby experience wouldn't be unwelcome. ]
