"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Careful were his paws that kneaded the grass with quiet precision as he crept along, eyes large and hungry as they zoned in the succulent body of an innocent rabbit. Inari could feel his stomach growling with dinner right before him, tail rigidly flowing side to side until snap and off started the chase. The fox clawed at the ground in effort to try make up for his mistake, disturbing dandelions in puffs of white along the way, but all was futile as his food had gotten a head start and the cub's not yet full grown legs just weren't up for the task. Inari slumped on the floor with a disgruntled look and sad eyes that watched his feast run away, a soft cry leaving his maw as his heart rested into the down beat rhythm of disappointment. White flecks of dandelion seed blew all around him, snagging on his fur making him the source of a hearty laugh from a darkened colt not too far away.
Sacre's expression was one of mirth as he had watched, a wad of grass wedged in his lips, his bonded friend try and fail at catching his dinner before thank the grass for not have legs and a brain to runaway. At least his food was easy to catch and not like poor Inari who, like all omnivores, could live off fruit and berries, but meat was always a welcome addition to the stomach. Inari threw his friend a sharp look of disapproval, which only made Sacre laugh more, before stomping off to sample the berries on a bush nearby whilst his stained so called 'friend' got over his fit.
Eventually, Sacre sighed in brief content happiness before a light frown settled across his features. It was slow days like this that made him wonder if he was actually getting anywhere in his life. Was he just like Inari's attempt to catch the rabbit, a floundering hopeful that amounted to nothing. Teeth clenched at that thought and he cursed his own weaknesses, why couldn't he find the answer to cure his unsatisfied soul that was always left wanting more no matter where he went. Why was relaxing in the sun such a hard thing for him to do? Why did his legs always tremble at the lack of movement, or his mind always tick away over past and future in any free moment? Sacre wished he could find his own answer and grasp real happiness with both hands, the free kind of happiness. In the end, the boy still did not know his path out of many available to him, he had flaws that annoyed him and a thirst to know everything that cursed him to not be able to stand still for a moment.
For now, the bloodstained one looked out across the sun soaked Heavenly Fields and to the mountains beyond, wondering if Roux ever had the same problems.
[Setting: Heavenly Fields on a warm spring afternoon! We can start the spar when they've conversed a little? :3]

Thump.
Edison dropped the dead rabbit in front of the younger fox, a loud call leaving his sharp beak as he flew overhead. The kite circled low until, finally, he landed on the withers of his bondmate. The bird had been watching from the skies, flying high before Roux, guiding him towards his brother. The red predator snatched the rabbit with ease, his aging process faster than the fox's, and he was already fully plumed and excellent at flying and hunting. His months on this earth were fruitful with the help of his unicorn soulmate. Together, the pair had grown into a great team. Edison sent Roux images when the sunlight took away the bloody colt's vision, and Roux kept the bird safe when he was but a hatchling, nestled in his mane like a nest. Their love was strong and tight, rivaling that which the unicorn felt towards his twin.
They had been apart for some time, since Sacre and Ranjiri had found him outside the cave. That was weeks past, and the large wound that ripped open Roux's shoulder was scarred over, though it was still tender to the touch. Roux knew it would heal, in time. "Brother!" The younger twin called out, moving his body in a careful trot towards his brother's scent. Edison kept giving him images of the fields, pinpointing Sacre's location so that Roux came to stand just before his brother, slightly to his own right. Reaching out with his ebony dipped muzzle, the boy placed a gentle nudge on Sacre's left shoulder. "How have you been, Sacre?" Roux asked, sightless eyes roving around in their sockets. Edison moved images of Sacre's face--his crystalline blue eyes, so much like their mother and sister; his red-stained lines, reminiscent of their father; of his red, spiral horn, so much like his own. They were welcome images, and they pulled Roux's charcoal lips into a small smile.
Roux had no idea of the storm going on inside his brother's head. He, on his own, had been travelling, slowly, back towards the Aurora Basin, where his parents were and where he believed he belonged. He knew better, deep down, he knew he belonged at Sacre's side, but the two year old would not make the decision himself. "Edison, play with Inari." Roux commanded, gently. The bird lifted his wings and glided down to the grass where the fox was, with the meal that the kite had dropped before him. Edison blinked his large, yellow eyes and nipped gently at the pup's ears. It was unusual, for foxes and birds were enemies--hunting and eating each other for the length of history and time.
If you believe in this world no one has died in vain
But don't you dare get to the top and not know what to do
The scent! The voice! Sacre's head whipped around suddenly, his eyes glistening with joy as the familiar blood red body of his closest kin appeared and lips trembled before laughing merrily. He carefully approached Roux as not to startle him and gently attempted to place his soft nose against the boys scarred shoulder in affection. Inari watched Edison with curiosity and perhaps just a hint of jealousy, thinking all the time that wings would be a fine thing. The fox eyed the rabbit with wide eyes of hunger and made soft whine noises when the bird nipped him, but he moved to slowly sniff the bird back, bushy tail automatically moving from side to side.
Sacre, on the other hand, brushed against his brother gently, his presence a very much welcome one as the boy had rather been pining for his kin the last few days. He was meeting so many unfamiliar faces that just seeing one familiar one was a nice feeling, to stand beside someone that knows him better than anyone else. It made the duo of colt and fox feel not so alone with the world all the time. Though surely as the months rolled on, they would gain friends that could patch the gap he felt when Roux was not around, though never could any horse fill it. "We've been well! Me and Inari have found a place to live in the south, a place called the Dragons Throat. It's dry and so hot, but we've adjusted and found some responsibility to fill our lives with." He announced, unsure as to how Roux would take the information that his twin now belonged to another herd at the other end of the map.
He looked to Roux's wound then and remembered when he had last saw him, or found him, with Ranjiri in an awful situation that had left his brother in a state Sacre never wanted to see him in again. Perhaps it was a time when the boy's selfish side came out for he didn't care for the horse or thing he had killed, whatever it was it had hurt his brother and deserved what came to it. The colt nodded happily to Inari to confirm that he could indeed continue playing with his brother's feathered companion before he turned back to look at Roux with concern drifting across his features. "How are you, Roux?" There were a million other questions hidden in that one, but he waited to see how much his brother wanted to admit and learn of the life he was living now. Was he happy? Has the basin treated him well?
So many questions, but time was precious and Sacre wanted to spend the little they had of it in peaceful bubble of happiness. Though the naive young colt knew nothing of the world's true darkest secrets and whether it would remain that way was not up to him.
