It only took a day to walk the way from the Threshold to home. A long, hot day and now we were rewarded with the evening sky. The moon was full above us, pregnant in all her glory, as she was every now and then. I gave up a sigh and looked back at Tsar', a slight smile decorating my black lips. We had just passed the path between the mountains that lead us into the Hidden Falls, my home since a season back. I didn't regret choosing this place - it was a nice place for my family - but perhaps I regretted choosing it because of our leaders. I almost never saw them, only glimpses and rumors. As well as Circuta. 'Where is that woman?' I thought, glancing around the rocky hills. I hadn't seen her since... Well, I didn't know. All I knew was that I missed her face.

A mix between a roar and a purr was heard not very far from us and I turned my head both ways in confusion. Was that...? GLOMP! I stumbled to my right as the black shadow attacked my left side, licking my neck and withers while hanging on to my back using her claws. Lucky for her, my skin had grown tougher against sharp knives for claws. "Dezba! Calm down," I laughed, and the jaguar jumped down from me in a heartbeat. She stroke herself against my front legs before jumping up to stand on her hind legs, looking at me straight in the eyes. She was rather tall when standing on her hind legs, almost taller than me. The feline started to lick my face and I chuckled quietly. "I haven't been gone for that long. Where is Cahira and Azarel?" She didn't even have time to answer my question before tiny, tiny hoof steps clicked against the ground. I looked up, smiling widely. After the newborn, came my son, wearing an equally wide smile on his lips. "My loves..." It wasn't even worth it asking for Destry. She had probably escaped for good and wouldn't let me see her again - but I hoped she would forgive me.

"Aza. Have you taken care of your sister for me?" I bumped my maw against the colt's neck as I spoke, breathing in his scent. It was earthy, blended with sweat and masculinity, just like a young stallion should smell. I then lowered my head and kissed the face of my daughter. "Mommy's home, Cahira," I whispered, smiling at her shaky legs and big, sparkling eyes. Even if her father was a heartless beast, she was nothing like him. She was mine. As I rose my head again, I turned to Tsar' and Abishia. "Welcome to the Hidden Falls, Tsar'." I turned my body towards them, letting my kids stand on one side of my and my bonded on the other. "These are two of my children, Azarel and Cahira. The jaguar is my bonded, Dezba." I took a step closer to the giant, flicking an ear forth and back at the same time. "Hopefully, a leader will greet us and then you can choose whatever rank your desires tells you to choose."

It seemed like the season changed almost over night as we traveled from the Threshold in which I was greeted by the masses of various equines and unicorns that had tried to woo me into their herd's populations. Most of the different herds had seemed quite interesting and the colt, Sacre, had almost led me "home" rather than the painted fauxcorn and the lightening struck unicorn who carried a sickly sweetness to her words. Even though the two of them seemed to be the most sinister out of the group, something about them had drawn my attention and held it. Maybe it was the piercing blue eyes that decorated the black, Delinne's, features. Or maybe it was just the mystery that came along with the facade that the two seemed to throw up when speaking to a new comer.
Dark rimmed harks swiveled and flicked as my silver pools moved about restlessly, trying to take in as much of my surroundings as possible. Clinging to various landmarks that could possibly be a saving grace whenever I would be following this path through the mountains on my own. The warm breeze that was skimming between the hairs that covered my thickly muscled frame was a welcomed one that carried the scents of various different animals...all of which smelled similar to the two mares that were escorting me across the boarders of their lands. It seemed that this herd was larger than I had expected and for a moment the thought of turning and leaving crossed my mind, I had never been one for large crowds. But that would be ridiculous and quite childish. My large twin horned skull shook slightly as the odd sound of an animals half roar tore through the air around us. Silver pools flashed immideatly to the mare who was leading us down the path as a black creature leapt on her and the chiming sound of a female's laughter broke through the silence. Then a conversation broke out before the arrival of a young filly and a stallion.
The conversation continued for a few more seconds before the lightening struck mare turned her attention on me. "Welcome to the Hidden Falls, Tsar'. These are two of my children, Azarel and Cahira. The jaguar is my bonded, Dezba." The ghost of a smile tugged ever so lightly at the darkened corners of my kissers as I was introduced to the children and to the black feline. Dipping my twin horned skull ever so slightly in a returned greeting while the mare spoke once again. "Hopefully, a leader will greet us and then you can choose whatever rank your desires tells you to choose." My harks swiveled once more as I looked back up to the speaking mare, different thoughts running through my grey matter at all the possibilities of what I could do here. "What are the different options?" My deep lyrics were still gruff with misuse as my question floated into the warm Tallsun air. My first choice would be military based, but maybe something would catch my interest more-so.

 MIDAS</style>
A lone wolf stares back at me, long in the tooth but as harmless as he can be</style>

Me and Delinne did share one unspoken notion—both of us had seen little of Seele, our colead. But I’d run the desert sands alone for years and wasn’t affected by her lack of appearance, so long the blood mare did her job when called into action. To keep better watch over things I’d started working the borders more frequently and spending less and less time exploring the woods. Through months and equally long days, this territory had become nearly as familiar to me as my former homeland. It wasn’t surprising that I’d grown to love our country in some small way, Earth had done his job in making sure that everything was well suited to our needs. Each turn was a treat to the eyes, breathtaking beauty was hard to deny or resent.

I’d seen her bring yet another into our fold, a creamy colored male with heavy looking horns up top his skull. He was large, a beast of true girth and likely a warrior. I pushed from the cliff, catching the wind and swirling down to them. Limbs uncurled to catch earth from beneath, bent to absorb the weight and shock of my descent. Body settled into the forgiving soil, gold sprang from heels, disappearing only when daggers moved to spread it elsewhere. A small grin welcomed them, and that of Delinne’s children. There was a moment of lingering on the very young filly I’d never seen in company with Delinne, my features softened toward the babe before becoming more business like as I greeted both old and perhaps new kin, “Welcome home Delinne, and ye good sir.”

As the beast bowed to my children, I smiled and looked around. Where was Seele and Midas? My gaze was directed to Tsar' again though as his thundering voice sounded aloud. "What are the different options?" Well... How would I explain that to him? There was so many. I was just about to part my lips when I heard the sound of wings, and I couldn't help but wish that it was my daughter who had decided to forgive me and help me greet this newcomer. But as I turned around, I felt the disappointment flow through me as Midas came down from the sky. When he landed, I noticed golden dust spread around his hooves. Was that a part of his magic? He had magic? "Welcome home Delinne, and ye good sir." I smiled, still hurt by the fact that it hadn't been my starmarked daughter, and looked into the lead stallion's golden eyes. Huh. He didn't have any pupils. "Thank you, Midas. This is Tsar', our newest recruit. I was just about to tell him the different options we have in ranks." As to finish off the sentence, I bowed my head slightly. Dezba was just sitting next to me, looking at us all with a pretty non-interested gaze while Cahira had jumped right under my belly, staring at both Midas and Tsar'.

She would learn in good time that there was no need to be afraid of giants. Giants should be afraid of her. I turned to the creamy beast again and looked up, because there was no other choice than looking up. Why was he so much taller? At least the pegasus leader was shorter than me. "There's everything between earth and heaven to choose, Tsar'. We have warriors, healers, masons, storytellers, our govern pair -" I glanced over at the black and white pegasus. "- and those who are like me, the sleuths."

Azarel cleared his throat next to me, bowed shortly to Midas and then turned his mismatched gaze to the giant. "I am one of the soldiers - unfortunately still in training as I am not old enough for the real deal." My son's voice was strong and deep, like a mature stallion should sound like. He was growing up too fast. The golden boy turned his head to our Czar again. "But I am still proud to be a Hidden Falls Soldier." He nodded slightly before letting an irresistible smile mend his lips. Azarel was a handsome young man and I couldn't say that I wasn't proud to be his mother, yet something told me that I was going to be even more proud over him when he was older. Or did I misunderstand the feeling in my heart? I lowered my head and turned it so that I could look at my young daughter, who was still hiding under my still swollen barrels. "Come out now, darling."

There was hardly time for my question to be answered before the beating of large wings distracted the little party we had going on from the ground to the sky where a black and white pegasus was lowering himself to the ground. Wherever his hooves struck the earth it turned gold for a few moments before fading back to the original terra hue, whatever magic it was that this stallion had it was interesting. Luckily the glowing hoof steps didn't remain for long or it would be a dead giveaway for anyone who could possibly be hunting the black and white bird. “Welcome home Delinne, and ye good sir.” the other beast's deep yet singsong-y lyrics broke through the air directing everyone's attention in his direction. The lightning struck mare smiled towards the stallion before her own kissers parted, "Thank you, Midas. This is Tsar', our newest recruit. I was just about to tell him the different options we have in ranks." My harks swiveled as the mare lowered her skull ever so slightly to the black and white paint, as her's was lifted it dawned on me that this was in fact the King of these lands. Massive, twin horned skull lowered slightly as my darkened kissers began to part so words could slip into the air around us. "It is a pleasure to meet you sir."
A smile cracked at my features as I noticed the small filly had disappeared beneath her mother when she noticed that there was now not one stranger but the black and white stallion as well. It was then that the mare, Delinne, looked up at me with her blue eyes just as piercing as they had been in the Threshold; "There's everything between earth and heaven to choose, Tsar'. We have warriors, healers, masons, storytellers, our govern pair -" as she spoke her eyes drifted over to the pegasus for a moment before drifting back to meet my own silver ones. "- and those who are like me, the sleuths." My long ombred tail smacked at my sides as the mare's words turned over and over again in my skull but the only one that stood out more than anything was the word warrior, I was no healer nor a craftsmen. The idea of me telling stories to the masses was nearly laughable as I could hardly carry my own weight in a conversation, and the idea of my hulking mass being something that I assumed was a spy was nearly ridiculous. In the midst of my thoughts the flame marked colt spoke up, his voice still carrying traces of being a boy who was finally growing into a young man. "I am one of the soldiers - unfortunately still in training as I am not old enough for the real deal. But I am still proud to be a Hidden Falls Soldier."
As he spoke of being a soldier my silver pools flicked over his frame in a judging manner, he seemed like he could make a good fighter. Strong, and I assumed fast, not to mention the sword that grew from the center of his forehead. Nodding slightly I looked back and forth between the party that was standing before me, the young stallion, the lightning struck mare, the scared little filly, and the shorter black and white pegasus who was the King of these lands. Clearing my throat I lowered my skull once more to the stallion named Midas before allowing my kissers to part. "If you will have me, I would be honored to serve in your army sir." eventually everyone would learn that I was a man of very few words, it was nothing against any company that I could possibly have. More so I wanted my words to be remembered and cherished, not allowed to go in one ear and out the other as many do for those who speak often.

 MIDAS</style>
A lone wolf stares back at me, long in the tooth but as harmless as he can be</style>

Tsar returned my greeting and I blessed it with an approving grin that hinted upon the man past all these formalities. Delinne explained the reason for this visit and I nodded, calmly waiting for her to continue. When his mother finished talking, the gangly colt spoke up, strongly voicing his opinion. The smile I wore shifted to one of a more tender humor, it was nice to see the babe taking an interest in the workings of his family. Grin twisted higher in support for this decision, “A fine youth ye has reared, Delinne.” There are notes of real admiration in my tone, for it was motherhood above all else which altered the path of the next generation—and for once, this colt seemed promising in ventures that stood to good reason. “I’m sure ye will serve our family with honor.” My words fell for the child who would soon cast off the soft baby down and enter the gleaming world of adulthood.

And what a world it was.

The subject of this conversation seemed to come to a conclusion. Tsar's choice was music to my ears, “Aye, ye is most welcome to join our ranks,” he was an impressive fellow, not the largest I’d ever seen—not by far. A man who looked well suited for the battlefield and perhaps given his age to grow to such height, he was very experienced, “Perhaps ye could share a trick or two to our younger recruits, they are in need of schooling.” Training was something this family had been lacking in.

I was greeted with a smile from the black and white stallion once my skull was returned to it's natural height. But his attention is quickly grabbed by the flame marked colt who tells of his future as a soldier for the Falls. He would end up being a good soldier if his attitude towards the job continued to be so full-hearted and determined as it was, hopefully the training he would endure over the next months...years...whatever wouldn't break the spirit he seemed to have. “A fine youth ye has reared, Delinne.” The stallion's voice rings out, heavily accented from a distant land that I couldn't quite put a name with, “I’m sure ye will serve our family with honor.”
My silver pools flicked back to the colt, a single corner of my sooty kissers turned up in a smirk as I mulled over the black and white stallion's words. I wondered if I had made my family proud, likely not as they were all dead as far as I knew. Or cared. That and my family consisted of myself and my darling mother who tried to do the best for me, had me train with the best in order to gain a proper name for myself rather than being the bastard son of the late King. My dust dipped tail lashed hard against my scarred sides, a resounding crack send flying into the air like a gunshot as I pushed the thoughts of my past as far from the forefront of my mind as possible. This was not the time nor was it the place. Flicking my darkened harks back ever so slightly my pools focused back on the world around me and then turned to the winged stallion that was being regarded as royalty. This was where my travels had lead me, and here it seemed I would remain for quite some time so I may as well spend it doing something I enjoyed, like sparring and protecting those who needed it.
My eyes drifted momentarily to the scared little filly who hid beneath her mother before I looked back to the stallion named Midas to give him my answer. “Aye, ye is most welcome to join our ranks, perhaps ye could share a trick or two to our younger recruits, they are in need of schooling.” Teaching was something that I had never thought of doing, my fighting was much less technique and more of using brute force, intimidating the opponent until they remained a ruined mess on the ground injured both physically and mentally after I walked away with my bleed scratches. It would be an interesting experience that was for certain, and one that I was very unlikely to pass up as I needed something to fill my spare time with. "I would be honored to teach the upcoming soldiers a thing or two." As my sentence came to a conclusion I drifted my attention once more to the flame marked colt, maybe one day I would meet him on the sparring ground and teach him a thing or two about how to throw what weight he has around.

He agreed to educate our youth, and I was satisfied with that. (Who could argue with a willing heart?) “Report to Rostislav, when ye has settled in.” Our current Legatus would aid in getting this new Tiro going in various tasks; hopefully the promise of training would happen sooner rather than later. With new stirrings of inner conflict in Hidden Falls, I desired all the seasoned warriors we could have, sentinels guarding the base of these mountains, defenders standing to correct injustice—loyal soldiers had become an expensive commodity. Not to mention that it was hard to tell where their loyalties drew a line when the question of Asylum came up.

“I must return to my post,” the borders weren’t going to protect themselves, “Find me should more questions arise.” With a nod directed at the group as a whole and a soft smile gracing lips apart for Delinne’s children, I retreated back into the atmosphere. Returning to my cliffside view of the area that had become my seclusion and part-time job. There were other newbloods to accept, and various issues that needed attention. Only time would tell if Tsar proved his loyalty and matched words with actions.

There would also be water if god willed it. Hidden Fall’s was no different from Dragon’s Throat in the sense that people came in, and people went out. More often than not, they simply vanished without a trace—just like Kri had, and just like Hototo had.
