GAUCHO

I'M THE END OF A HITCHCOCK MOVIE
A LITTLE DARK AND A LOT CONFUSING.

This existential crisis was really getting old. The constant questioning and consideration given to every little detail, was putting Gaucho's primitive brain on overdrive - and it wasn't handling the pressure very well. Was he the crazy one? Or was everyone else? If what Mara - and the few others he had met - were speaking the truth, then he had been here before, had ruled a 'dragon's throat' (whatever that meant). And if all that was the case...then how had he lost his memory? Why didn't Mara know that, if she knew everything else? Why didn't the others? Or was it the other way around - was this whole 'Helovia life' a facade? If so, why? If he had never been in these lands before, then what was the point of luring him here, only to try and implant via suggestion, these strange and bizarre histories?

It was too much. Let's face it - thinking wasn't Gaucho's strong suit anyways, and this? Well, let's just say he's hopelessly outnumbered in this battle of wits.

Grunting, Gaucho forced his body through the thick vines and foliage that lovers so desired in this place. The flames that crept along his wingtips and hooves did not damage the greenery - much to his frustration. Setting this place ablaze would likely have been a stress reliever. Still, if he really wanted to, he did have magic that would do precisely that sort of damage, but he refrained. He was not some rowdy youth - he had enough foresight to control himself, at least insofar as damage to public property was concerned.

Continuing on, Gaucho found a spot especially secluded by overgrowth. Snorting loudly, he leaned his large frame heavily against the nearest tree, causing a few leaves to fall gently around him. Black ears against his skull, he huffed angrily, pawing at the few that dared to land near his burning hooves. In his antlers, Mara hissed wearily, both annoyed and concerned at her bonded's current state of depression, though knew there was little that she could do.

"You spin me right round, baby."

You wandered away from home in an attempt to find sugar lips. That went well. Try as you might to search the Rotunda, search the ocean, search Helovia... she is nowhere to be seen. And Rose Red is suspiciously absent as well. How the hell are you supposed to successfully manage an evil coup if your apparent leaders can't even successfully manage to be around. You never should have trusted Rose Red to her word. You'll should destroy her, tear her to pieces and grind the blood into the ground. The only thing that holds you back is the knowledge that the Phantom Seeker, your Saccharine Queen, would never forgive you. You're quite certain of it. So, only for the woman you follow like a puppy, do you hold yourself back. Still... even the bonds of some imagined love can be tenuous. If the Nightingale cannot be the regal queen you have imagined her to be then your respect for her will fade and then... Then Eris should watch her back, because you will not have her crawling back to the Falls to reclaim her position as General. She is as worthy of the title as a rabbit is to call herself a carnivore.

Shaking your head, you grunt in dissatisfaction and look up only to realize your in some place that is vaguely familiar and yet unknown to you. It is the glow of fire in the distance that really draws your attention, though, and you begin to stumble towards the unnatural glowing. Were you not high, you might realize that you should run from the flames, the fire that is surely ready to set the forest ablaze; however, you are high, and you can only reason so far. And in this moment, you want to know why the forest burns. So you move towards them, bobbing and weaving, kicking at trees that dare to touch you and pressing through underbrush that drags at your already knotted feathers. When you finally break free of the clutches of the forest and burst onto the scene, you fall into rowdy laughter. This fellow again. He wasn't wearing fire last time you met him, but you remember him well.

“Kak-tus Man,” you offer, surprisingly jovially, before a sudden idea pops into your head. “You'll like this.” And before you even give him a chance to answer, you call upon the magic that has been gifted to you (somehow) and send it his way. An instant later, because you don't really want to be left out of all the good fun, you go ahead and zap yourself too. A good, relatively minor shock to the brain followed by 30 seconds of Locoweed bliss. You can only imagine that you dreamed this magic up in the night and your dream became a reality because it's become your favorite play toy ever since you got it. So with vision newly hazy and world newly spinning, you try to focus on the fuzzy Kak-tus Man speak. “What do you think?” A little slurred. Not too bad.

GAUCHO

I'M THE END OF A HITCHCOCK MOVIE
A LITTLE DARK AND A LOT CONFUSING.

It would have been hard to miss the delicate arrival of Oxy, as his body unceremoniously crashed through the brush, just as Gaucho's had done earlier. On any other occasion, and in a different state of mind, Gaucho might have drawn himself away from the tree, and squared himself against this noisy arrival. He might have fanned his flaming wings from his sides, and stood tall against the serene backdrop, ready for a fight, or at least an explanation. Did he look like he wanted to be bothered? All 17.2 muscular hands of his war-painted and muscular body? But it wasn't any other occasion, and he wasn't in a different state of mind. It was this occasion, with this state of mind (at least, the state of mind he would have for the next 10 seconds, until he was zapped).

As his stormy gaze fell upon the dual-horned stallion, a tiny flicker of recognition blossomed deep within Gaucho's simple mind. Something....something about that bag...it looked...what was in there? Gaucho felt like he knew...there was something...it felt...dizzy? In his minds eye, he could see trees - but not regular trees. It was as if he was looking up at them from the ground. He remembered laughing, and something about trees, and something about -

Kak-tus man

Yes. Kaktus. He remembered that! He -

-felt tingly. At first, it was just a coldish prickle, that gradually subsumed his entire body. His wings jerked against his back, throwing rays of light against the romantic backdrop. The feeling suddenly turned warm, and seemed to burrow into his core, making his bones feel light as air. But it wasn't just his bones, it was as if his mind felt the same weightless warmth that his body did as well. For a brief moment, Gaucho considered fighting the feeling (as if that was possible). As proof, a small snarl began to form on his dark lips, but quickly turned into a wide-mouth grin. His wings had stopped their jerking - and almost as if just noticing it now, he began to fold and unfold them, causing the flames that lingered there to throw even more light around them.

"Light" Gaucho responded with a childish grin, still fanning his wings. It would likely have been unclear whether he meant that he felt light, or that his wings were causing light. Then again, it probably didn't matter - At least not for Gaucho. No sooner had the words left his lips, his mind turned to other things, as the hazy high began to settle firmly upon his shoulders.

As his glassy gaze slowly whirled back to Oxy (which actually included Gaucho's entire body moving in the process, as if to stabilize his vision), his eyes narrowed. The ray like marking over his left eye seemed to squish, as Gaucho scrutinized his old comrade. Licking his lips, the dun snorted, almost directly into Oxy's face. "Tell me -" He began, words slurring, his voice holding all of the familiarity of a drunkard who thinks everyone is his best friend. "You ever lie to Gaucho?"

And as we all know, heartfelt talks are always better under the influence of drugs.

"You spin me right round, baby."

Oh yeah. You forgot. Well, forgot isn't exactly the right word. You remember what happened- somehow the pair of you had ended up on the ground looking up at the sky, talking about some imaginary Sun God party and then... darkness. Yeah, you remembered that part. You just forgot about part before it. The part where Kak-tus Man doesn't exactly know how to hold his... Locoweed. Although, to be fair, you didn't really give him a chance to even figure out what was happening. You just sort of... exploded onto the scene and then zapped him. And you wouldn't normally feel bad for him except that you've walked onto a scene only to have someone zap unexpectedly as well. Although, they were zaping away from you, not attacking you. So, retrospectively, you think that maybe you should have given Kak-tus Man time to process what was going on- but he eventually gets himself together.

Good thing you managed to stay out of the flailing wings, though, since you kind of forgot to be wary of them. And even though you're pretty sure that Kak-tus Man would be bellowing in pain if he could feel the flames, you're not under any delusions that they won't hesitate to burn you to a crisp. You've never known a fire to play nice. You don't see why one would start now.

Honestly, with Kak-tus Man providing the romantic mood lighting (and whispering sweet nothings about it?) and you providing the mind altering substances, anyone who wandered upon the two of you might think that you had planned this alone time... that you wanted it. With a half curious look to the warrior before you, though, you quickly let any... peculiar thoughts fly away. He's in your face again (didn't he do this last time?) and there's nothing even remotely arousing about the large brute and his furrowed brow invading your personal space.

But since he's busy playing the gracious host, you go ahead and snort back at him, making sure to try and repay him for whatever of his bodily fluids land on you. As for lying... You furrow your own brow as you try to figure out just what he's getting at. Does he think you lied about something? Worse- does he know about the Golden Pegasus and the Asylum? But you can't think of what else he'd be getting at so you decide to just skip one or seven steps in the conversation. But not before digging a few of your vines out of your bag. Dropping a couple on the floor for him and eating a couple for yourself, you finally take the time to answer. “No... Why? Do you want to help?” To be honest, you wouldn't mind at all having him as general alongside of you. And anyways... Surely you can just play this off somehow else, if it turns out he doesn't actually know. Right?

GAUCHO

I'M THE END OF A HITCHCOCK MOVIE
A LITTLE DARK AND A LOT CONFUSING.

Gaucho appears somewhat pleased as Oxy stands sturdy, even as Gaucho leaned forward. Something about that was...soothing. Perhaps because it mirrored so closely the events that unfolded between the two before. Were either of them of sound mind, they might joke, "we've got to stop meeting like this"; always hidden away in the seclusion of the trees, Gaucho unfaltering in his ability to invade Oxy's personal space, and Oxy, ever prepared with a concoction (both magical and herbal) to sweeten the mood. Even as snot from Oxy's own facial-openings showered Gaucho's dark nose, the dun did not waver. If anything, it solidified whatever this feeling of comradery was.

But then...

Well. Then the bag was opening, and Gaucho did remember. At least, he remembered the weeds. "Like Kak-tus!" He half-whispered, half shouted. Then, realizing the way his voice bounced off of the secluded grove, pinned his ears. "Shhhhh" He chastised (himself?), before dropping his snout to the ground, and inhaling rather noisily (despite his own warning) the weeds that Oxy had left. The world became just a little more clearer (in a blurry way, of course), as the vines began to digest. Gaucho could hear his stomach rumble ominously, to which he bobbed his head, as if receiving a thank-you, and acknowledging it graciously.

No... Why? Do you want to help his new/old/forever bestfriend was asking. Help? Weren't they talking about the deception currently being plotted against Gaucho? About memory loss? That's what Gaucho was talking about, obviously. It was so clear. But he didn't doubt the wisdom of his horned pal, not for one second. Maybe...maybe he meant help take them down? OR! Even better, maybe he meant help get them back? Now understanding what it was Oxy must mean, the dun bobbed his antlered head decisively.

Multiple times.

"Yes." He added for good measure.

With a grunt, Gaucho raised his front right leg, and began pawing into the soil. Clearly, he was digging a hole to throw up in...but he was certainly going about it in an odd way. Instead of just...you know...digging the thing, he cut vertical lines with his hoof, in a manner which was almost careful. Except it wasn't, not really, for his great bulk was swaying madly, as he fought to keep his balance. His wings - splayed from his sides - flopped around unevenly, acting like a pole that a tightrope walker might utilize.

Eventually, he had drawn this:

Stepping backwards, hind-end squarely hitting the tree behind him as he did so, Gaucho motioned with his nose, towards the shape in the ground. "That." He gestured unhelpfully, still operating under the assumption that they were on the same page. "We need to find that."

"You spin me right round, baby."

Almost like a mirror, you pin your ears as Gaucho (still rather in your face) demands that you be quiet. Because obviously you were the one making all the noise. But, all in all, he's not too bad. After all, you haven't really found any good friends since you've been here and this warrior beast with a few problems of his own- choppy speech and lack of knowledge about social customs to name a few- is pretty good in your books. You suppose, since he seems ok in most other regards, you can forgive him a few oddities. Certainly he has forgiven you yours.

Ah, but crap. Gaucho's affirmative motion that he wants to help plot the downfall of Midas and Seele is troubling in its own right. Not for because of Gaucho, as you mentioned before, but rather because he seems to know about it and you don't know who told him. Certainly not Circuta, she would have drowned him in her sweetness and made him part of the group already. Eris then? No- she's too smart, too calculating. As you continue to cycle through the nameless faces of members of your group, you try to think, try to understand, but fail again and again. You have literally no idea who spilled the beans. You'll have to find them and take them down... this is troubling.

But while you're pondering over your new troubles, the beast in front of you seems suddenly set on destroying the ground you stand on. You're not one to stop destruction by any means, but just out of fear of becoming charred Oxy you decide to step back a step or two. Until he is done, that is. Whatever the mysterious origins of his knowledge, Gaucho seems to have a plan in mind already. Which is good- your plotting and scheming has been rather useless thus far. And he made a pretty good leader of the whole WAR effort thing, so he's probably pretty experienced in making attack plans.

As for the image on the ground... you need to find it? “Uh,” you start out stupidly, circling around to try and look at it from the angle that Gaucho has drawn it, trying to understand what it is you are seeing. It's your companion who finally has an idea. Floating down in front of you, she morphs into a miniature cloud that is shooting lightning bolts- until your annoyance at her presence overrides her ability to play her childish games. So you snap at her, sending her away, and she dissolves once again into a barely visible black wisp. Except maybe... you look back to the ground. She does have a point. The only problem is that lightning bolts only ever remind you of one thing and... “She doesn't really like me very much.” You muse aloud, even as you are thinking of Ampere. Still.... Gaucho's right. She's loud, chaotic- painful. If you could convince her to join your side you may actually be able to win this war. “Ampere, right?” You look back to him for confirmation.

GAUCHO

I'M THE END OF A HITCHCOCK MOVIE
A LITTLE DARK AND A LOT CONFUSING.

Gaucho wheezed/snorted at the sight of the once-gas-ball-whatever-thing becomes a cloud of lightning. WHAT. THE. FUCK. But Gaucho isn't frightened, merely stupefied, and since Oxy didn't seem too worried, he wouldn't be either. As his gaze narrowed, some internal green light began flashing in the depths of his mind. Lightning. Yes! That was it. Lightning! "That!." He grunted optimistically at the vaporous creature.

As Oxy sidled around to inspect Gaucho's hieroglyph from the right way (though whose to say that Gaucho's artistic talents weren't so fantastic that he actually drew the thing upside down, just for Oxy? ....Nah.), the dun turned his head as if equally curious as to the meaning of the thing. The way his antlered skull twisted - still trying to compensate for the spinning, of course - made it appear as though the marking he literally just drew, was as mysterious to him as it was to Oxy. Although maybe he was much more subtle about it - things seemed fluttery in his mind. He could easily have been standing there stone still instead.

Ampere, right?

Something itched in the back of his mind at the mention of the name. His nostrils flared as his already significantly slowed mind tried to reach into the blackness and pluck out whatever was scratching so violently back there. Ampere....The name sounded like blue sweat and...screeching? That didn't make any sense, did it? Mara, was unhelpfully silent. She had liked Ampere originally, until the self-titled Mother of Companions decided that all companions were somehow enslaved. Did she look enslaved? Still, the meaning of the symbol was as foreign to Mara as it seemingly was to Gaucho. Whatever subconscious part of the beast was initiating these doodles was barred from her mental touch. Although, if the symbol did mean Ampere, that wasn't too surprising, given that she was the last to see Gaucho before he left Helovia.

Either 5 seconds or 5 minutes passed, while all of these tumbled through Gaucho's mind. Eventually, the dun nodded firmly to his pal. "Yeah. That what will help. That what will make us win."

Of course Gaucho meant win-against those lying to him. But, you know. Whatever.

"You spin me right round, baby."

Your friend- yes, you suppose you'll call him friend- certainly has odd habits. He talks like a maniac and he reacts to locoweed like a strange, strange creature, but you enjoy his presence because you can just be... you in his presence. Even if your conversations are radically cryptic, you feel like you and him have a terrific understanding of one another. A few words here, a grunt and some snot there and the two of you have come to a fantastic pact. And with a few scratches in the dirt, Gaucho is helping you to create a plan that you never could have imagined on your own. If that isn't a friend, you don't know what is.

Regardless, after you say Ampere's name, there is a lapse of silence that has you drawing into your bag to grab another vine, dropping one Gaucho's way if he wants one while he thinks and twists his antlers and does whatever else it is that he does. If he doesn't want it, you'll happily gobble it up yourself. You're not big on sharing, but this is a relationship worth sharing for. And, in time, the silence passes and Gaucho speaks, confirming that Ampere will help. Which is great, except you have no idea where she is and clearly Gaucho doesn't either or he wouldn't be saying you need to find her. Or maybe he would, who knows. Just to check, you ask. “Do you know where she is?”

But then you've got other business to attend to as well. “So how do you want to do this? Do you want to meet them or stay in the shadows?” You don't suppose it matters to you either way and you assume that Gaucho will be smart enough not to announce himself as part of the opposition. You're working as a double agent, after all, living within their herd and all the while plotting their demise. Gaucho could too, if he doesn't have a home to live in. You never did find out where he lives. You suppose you better- that might be important when you need to find him again later. “Where do you stay, anyway?” There, that ought to get all the questions out of the way for now.

All the while, you can feel your companion's excitement. She remembers Ampere from the caves underground and is admittedly excited at the possibility of meeting the mare that she was stolen from. You remind her that both she and Ampere are idiots, just for good measure, but her heart is not daunted.

GAUCHO

I'M THE END OF A HITCHCOCK MOVIE
A LITTLE DARK AND A LOT CONFUSING.

Do you know where she is?

Gaucho's pierced-nostrils danced as he twisted his lips back and forth, in the paradigmatic display of 'I'm thinking'. He wasn't really thinking of course, because he didn't remember anything. It was more like he was waiting for his brain either to come up with something, or to return an error. He was in the proverbial loading screen. Maybe he would come up with something, maybe not. At this point, he really didn't know.

As Oxy shifted the direction of the conversation, Gaucho force-quit his earlier search, which resulted in a shrug of his bulky blue-striped shoulders.

"Stay in shadows." He replied, his tone implying that Oxy's question had been a dumb one.
"We not want them to know that Gaucho know." Duh Wasn't Gaucho supposed to be the slow one? Well...Gaucho sort of understood - confronting them head on would destroy any future plots that they might have, but without knowing the full extent of their trickery, there could be other members that could continue, even if they took a few down. But, in the spirit of keeping this incommensurable conversation going, his response answered Oxy's question equally well, too.

The next question caused the dark skin around Gaucho's eyes to wrinkle in confusion. Where did he stay? What was that supposed to mean? As at least some of Oxy's magical effects began to wear off, even more confusion began to slip into Gaucho's primitive mind, as if some small part of him realized that they could not be talking about the same thing. Even so, his dual-horned pal had recognized the symbol, and Gaucho was sure that symbol was the key to everything. And so, Gaucho would take on the role of double-agent, in a way different from what Oxy was likely assuming. He needed Oxy to help him find this Ampere, if she really was what the symbol meant. And to do that, he decided would be best achieved by pretending to be, at least with Oxy, whatever they thought he was.

So what did he know about 'himself' ? What had the tricksters been saying?

"Dragon's Throat.." He offered somewhat ambiguously, leaving out the part about him being a leader there. Hopefully his pal wouldn't ask to go there or anything, because that would definitely blow his cover. Who knows, maybe with Mara's help, he could make this double-agent thing work.

"So. What we do first?"

"You spin me right round, baby."

Okay... clearly he has no idea where the electric mare is either. How are you supposed to find her if he doesn't know where to start looking? But ah, such are the struggles of heading an opposition. You take the fate of the entire operation upon your shoulders. You will have to find her, if Gaucho cannot, because it is your duty. Come to think of it, you're not entirely sure you want all this responsibility. Responsibility sucks. For the record.

But Gaucho seems to know what he wants to do- stay hidden from them for now. Fine by you. Better if Midas continues to think you don't have any friends. If you didn't already appreciate the fire man's battle prowess, you'd probably be a little more upset that he's adopted that 'poor stupid' tone of voice. As it is, you resign yourself to feeling mildly hurt. But then you decide to forgive him, because he's probably just as anxious to get this whole thing over with too. Maybe he even wants to lead. That would be good, since you have no particular interest in leading once you take over. General is just fine by you, thanks.

Dragon's Throat. Annoying- he obviously would live in the farthest herd away. But whatever, such is life. You bob your head amiably enough, though, pondering what to do next when the primitive beast echoes your very sentiments. Your brown eyes sort of glint and you smirk as you turn your whole body to face him. “Train,” you say, and then laugh. Ever since he asked you to hit him back in the forest so long ago, you've been eager to try yourself against him. Lowering your head, you toss your head and horns back and forth a few times, implying that you are about to head butt him. Will he take the bait? You kind of hope so.

@[Gaucho]- spar if you're up for it!?
