All he wanted to do was have a peaceful outting. All he wanted to do was explore. Maybe learn a little more about Helovia.

But no. Things went horribly wrong.

He had “galloped” (that’s what he was trying to do, he didn’t really succeed) back to the Falls as quickly as he could. Though, in his terror, he quite missed a turn somewhere and ended up somewhere else entirely. Was this the meadow where Midas had first found him? It looked different then, but of course it had been buried underneath a couple feet of snow. Now it was actually rather beautiful, even if the thistles warned him away with their bright purple flowers and deceivingly fuzzy looking thorns.

Well this was unfortunate. He had intended to go right back to the Falls and to never ever ever leave their again. Even to go back home! The risk was too great. There was no telling what he might find out here in the big world. He didn’t know who he might run into or what their mental state would be.

Nope, definitely not worth the risk!

Now if only he could find his way back to the Falls so he could settle in with the weird looking horses he had grown accustomed to.

Boy, all of this trauma had certainly worked up quite the appetite for the little chestnut pony. Maybe once he satisfied that need he would remember which way Midas had led him - though he had been far too distracted by both the conversation and those odd feathered wings to really pay full attention to their surroundings.

With a disgruntled little snort his galloping fit came to an end and he began instead to root around in the shade of an oak for some tasty treats - and carefully avoiding any of last year’s acorns that were still sticking around, not yet harvested by the squirrels.

Another unsuccessful search had brought the silver child winging back toward home. Again, she'd overextended herself, and felt the ache in her wings and her shoulders that warned it would be best for her to land somewhere and rest. Though she could see the misty trees of the Edge in the distance, she knew that she wouldn't make it there before weariness would cramp her muscles and drag her from the skies. With a relunctant sigh she cast her gaze downward, seeking a suitable place to land and rest. It was a relief to see the meadows stretch out beneath her, almost home, knowing that she was unlikely to stumble across an unfriendly face here. But just in case... she noted an oak tree, and deemed it suitable as cover.

Angling herself down in a wide, banking spiral, she mused that a willow would offer even better shelter, but was more liable to foot traffic since the river was such a popular location for foot traffic. The prevalence of worn paths along the river she'd seen while flying was evidence enough of that. And with her being so tired and far from home? This would have to do.

It was with gratitude that she felt her hooves touch down on grassy turf, and she cantered a few strides to absorb the energy of landing and spare her taxed wing muscles the effort of a more precise landing. Sighing, she drew her wings in as close as she dared. No good to have them grow stiff as she regained her wind. Lowering her head, she nosed up a patch of fresh young grass shoots and cropped up a mouthful before she began walking toward the oak, wishing she had the energy for a hunt and completely unwitting of the fact that someone else had had the same idea about the oak tree she'd picked out.

@[Wilibald] Sorry for delay! Been distracted by work and being sick.
