| Despondent though she is at her failed attempt, Kahlua’s appearance brings a happy nicker to Nasreen’s throat and a delighted smile to her bi-colored muzzle. “Kahlua!” she exclaims as her friend brushes against her side and joins her with a vine of her own. “I’m so glad to see you,” the copper and ivory pegasus continues more softly, with a sheepish glance at Dragomir. She had meant no disrespect with her outburst, but still she had interrupted his lesson and for that she is sorry. Dutifully, she turns back to her vine, all the more inspired by the encouragement that Kahlua readily offers.
Her face is still screwed up in concentration when Dragomir stops in front of her. She looks up apologetically, expecting a reprimand (albeit a mild one, for her teacher does not seem the sort to raise his voice), but instead he offers patient instruction. Gratefully, she smiles and ducks her head, following his advice and adjusting her weight accordingly. On her next attempt, the workmanship is still clumsy, but she sees a slight improvement by the time she reaches the end of the vine. That is enough to make her look up again, beaming. “Thank you,” Nasreen murmurs. She practically skips back to the center of the clearing to grab a fresh plant while Dragomir talks to Kahlua, spurred on by her small success. When she rejoins the pair, her teacher has just finished saying…well, whatever he had been talking to Kahlua about. Happily settling herself next to them once again, she sets to work on the second vine with careful concentration. Her handiwork still isn’t as precise as the master’s, but hopefully he will approve. “What’s next?” she asks eagerly, looking from the stallion to the queen.
