The Spirit of the Veins spied the first, gentle heart who came to her, and she nodded. He was as handsome inside as he was on the outside, and she breathed slowly, flames curling around the contoured edges of her churning, blue face. Many followed, but a few managed to bring her ire - not a clever thing to do around an ancient spirit. She turned to "AURELIA", narrowing her gaze which turned bright orange, flames licking up to her ears. The mare opened her lips, breathing fire at the hooves of the pegasus, lunging in her direction. "YOU DARE ASK FOR ANOTHER!" she howled. "YOU WHO LET YOUR COMPANION DIE! YOU WHO BARELY MOURNED HER NAME BEFORE COMING TO ME FOR ANOTHER!" Her screams were like wildfire, roaring and frightening. "TO FEEL SO LITTLE AS YOU HAVE FOR YOUR LOSS MEANS YOUR HEART IS BLACK! I WILL NOT TIE ANOTHER TO A BLACK HEART!" Then, she turned to CIRRUS. "Your heart has mourned. DO not expect another to fill the hole - it won't." The words were cold but not angry. The truth hurt. Her fiery gaze turned to the foolish boy, AEOLUS. She scoffed, snorting plumes of smoke in his direction. "STUPID CHILD! Do you think I would harm the egg! DO YOU NOT THINK WARMTH IS WHAT IT NEEDS! FOOLISH!" She looked around at the rest of the group, narrowing her gaze. "The rest have good, whole hearts. But, I choose Miykael to care for this egg. His soul will carry the burden of this other for the rest of his life, lest he end up like this broken mare or this blackened one..." She warned, narrowing her gaze at Cirrus who was broken and Aurelia who was blackened. The blue lava washed up on the rocky shore like the ocean, depositing the egg at Miykael's hooves. |
