The GOD of the SUN

Burn the whole world down

No matter how brilliantly and perfected Bellona's guise is, her true feelings shimmer brightly beneath the God's mental-gaze; nearly as brightly as her array of plumage. For a moment, the flames that lick and flow on his golden hide ignite, burning larger and hotter. Annoyance fuels and fans the flames, but it dissipates quickly, as amusement washes through. Jealousy, such an ugly emotion, he thinks to himself with a sneer. So the bird feels cheated? What a shame. Dislikes the young one? Who cares. As she speaks, the flames dwindle to their original size, and his burning gaze narrows. He is already bored of her. He has seen her type before. He thought perhaps she was different, but oh no - she is the same. But aren't they all the same, really? Ignorant in her view of the world, as if her tiny slice of experience means anything. And the attitude - oh! - it was in her best interest to keep her thoughts from being spoken, but that did not mean he did not have access to them.

The God's gaze turned to Ophelia, as she attempted to answer the mare's question. When she finished, the God snorted in Bellona's direction. She was a fool to disregard his attention, although now it made sense why she lived in the Foothills. "I offered you your answers once, but you've turned it down. Refreshment seems precisely what you need. A mental refreshment - the whereabouts of Osiris; physical refreshment - the easing of your wounds. Perhaps you might even have found something else in the sands. Something dragon related, perhaps?" He paused, golden eyes blaring with a cruel amusement. Although the God hated the pompous attitude of mortals when they ignorantly denied his attention and aid, he did like reminding them of what their attitude had cost them. He was the God of the Sun - who else but He, could they possibly think they needed? The Earth would never lift a hoof to aid those with dark intentions - whereas his Sister only interfered when it was in her best interest. His other brother...well. His aid seemingly only came if you caught him on a good day.

Bellona was a fool to have turned down his offer. "You had your chance." He snapped, before turning his back on her.

Looking to Hector now, the God's gaze softened significantly. Hector was a loyal and impressive soldier, so it surprised the God very little that he asked for magic to defend the Throat. "I won't lend them to you Hector, I shall give them to you. But first, you must find your purpose once again. The Resolute has gone - she has attended to business outside of these borders. And while we will remember Kri for her strength and stature, we will not dwell on what we have lost. Ghosts cannot give you purpose Hector. Think on what is important to you. Come to my shrine and pray on these things. Your purpose will become clear to you then."

Looking to Sheba now, the pale mare who had so cleverly provided a solution to his puzzle, he paused, listening to her request. The idea intrigued him. With her delicately feminine appearance, surely she at least partially knew how to achieve the results that she desired by magic? And what of the effects? Most interestingly to the God, he wondered what the color of her soul was...Well. If she desired this gift from him, it was only fair that she provide these answers to him. "Prove to me that you can do this on your own...but on my terms. You shall leave here...altered, in some...minor way. Convince someone to love you - as a friend or as a lover - and make them give something of value to you. When this is done, return to me with the item."

Only a few remained. The golden-adorned child had departed, promising to do his bidding. He would have to look for her in the Throat. Lace, rather surprisingly, had left without his normal pessimistic sarcasm. He had even agreed to meet Tandavi in the Throat. Apparently the God would be on the lookout for a number of new faces in his land. He had smiled dotingly as Tandavi departed, the golden flower brightly blossoming perpetually in her tail, and nodded knowingly to Cirrus. He would have to find time to speak with the weather-changer. Her soul seemed broken - likely due to the companion who no longer lingered at her side.

A large hybrid lingered just off the side. Had his gaze not been so adoringly fixated upon Ophelia, likely the God would not have glanced at him twice. A shiver of white-hot annoyance rumbled along the God's spine, as his golden gaze narrowed. What did the boy want? He wreaked of need and unspoken questions. But for whom?

Were there any higher power (higher than the four Gods), who could reach inside of the God of the Sun and deduce his emotions, this power might have found a shard of jealousy beginning to fester. The idea of another coveting something which had once been so close to the God was...foreign. Rarely, if ever before, had the God cast away something so clearly precious to him. The idea of another possessing even an infinitely small amount of that desire was nearly inconceivable. And in fact, it was, for the God, so proud in his endeavors, would never admit such a thing, to himself, or to anyone else. And so, the God merely sneered at the hybrid child, before casting his gaze to Ophelia. "It seems there is someone who wants your attention." He noted, sounding aloof and un-bothered, as he gestured towards Adelric. The God wanted to speak with Ophelia, but privately. Of course he could simply burn the child to make him leave, that would be much simpler. Yet a part of the God wanted to know why the child seemed to desire her attention in such a...shy way.

He had waited long enough to speak with Ophelia. He could wait a little more.

Hector must pray at the Sun God's shrine, listing what is most important to him. The rest of his quest will be revealed then.

If Sheba accepts, she will be horribly disfigured. She will be aged several years, her mane and tail will be tangled and sparse, and her frame thin. Her voice will be raspy and her eyes sunken. She will have nothing left of her former beauty, only her wits and her words. She must convince someone to love her - either as a mate or as a friend - and have them give something of value to her as a symbol of their affection. She must bring the item to the God.
