He gave her a sympathetic smile as she complained, oblivious to (or choosing not to see) the disappointment his withdrawal caused the girl. "I should think so" he said calmly as he withdrew further up onto the grassy lawn, quite content without further water games - it wasn't that nice to be wet. "Time has a way of changing our perspective of the places we used to know. You've been away from here for quite some time Amaris, and you have grown older in the meantime. Of course things have changed - though to say that everything is different is something of a stretch."

Arching the white-plumed neck to scratch a spot on the chest, Lace studied the filly surreptitiously from the corner of an eye. She seemed glummer than she had been as a foal, quick to dishearten in a way that reminded him much too strongly of himself. Though he doubted it had any direct relation to his limited time spent with the half-dragon siblings, he prayed that it was nothing more than the usual moodiness of adolescence. She would be much better off without his tendency to brood and the melancholy that often followed with it.

"Have you had a chance to look around since I saw you last?" he asked after a while, trying to ease the conversation into a topic before any awkward silences could set in. "There have been some interesting changes in the landscape up north... Can you believe that Father Earth have made an entire mountain disappear!"

He smiled a bit before leaning down to rip off a mouthful of grass, then grew quiet again to allow the girl some time and a chance to talk back if she so desired.
