On this night Tangere and her bird are wandering the steps looking at the greenery and even the lack there of. Evergreen trees and bitter, sappy cone fruit they produce was tonight’s focus. The pines glow in the silvery light of a half moon brightly illuminating the nightsky. The nightly color palette is present of course, as it almost always is. Near silence surrounds the pair, bird and unicorn; the only sound being her own footfall and a stray fox or two every now and again. She studies the pines, particularly some random hardy gnarl barked, dark needled one that grew in small groves of only its kind spread all across the north. A branch breaks in the moving shadows of the skeleton trees. Phrixus lifts off of his bonded’s withers and climbs through the air with long graceful downward stokes of his wings. He perches atop the tallest pine, not of the kind Tangere is attempting to study; which she has now given up on completely. The cloak of shadows and darkness make it impossible for her pick out the details of what she is trying to dissect and learn about. Instead she decides to bring herself through the thinly wooded pine forest, one of many sparse patches scattered across the area. She moves back out into the sem-open, finding that more vegetation grows near the hardwood patches rather than the pine. Snow drifts litter high hills while others hide small oak tree gatherings and a bit of grazing. The grasses and herbs that grow here in the summer are resilient and rich – too much of it is sure to slow one’s stomach to the point of aching. It is, however, very good for one in small doses.

While picking at the patches of greenery between rocks and monster oak tree roots snaking through the cavernous stones, she is interrupted by a sudden crunch across the snow. Phrixus coos softly and swoops to the nearest branch bent sharply just above where the silver unicorn stands. She watches stallion land gracefully, the snow pluming poetically from his smooth steps; curling currents of wind produced by his wings swirl around as he melts into a walk. She lets a smile play on lips, a warm, attractive sort of smile. Her gut stirs and she can feel a tingle web throughout her nerves.

Estrus.

A seasonal occurrence every mare must sort out eventually. Either do it or don’t, but otherwise you should certainly stay away from the opposite sex for a few weeks. Incidentally Tangere hasn’t had time to sort it out and it seems the boys back home are far too distracted to even notice what she smells like lately…this is the first time she’s been alone and close…perhaps it is time for fate to take hold, or at the very least it is time for an experiment.

She perks both ears forward and stretches her muscled neck as far up as it will go, her full focus pinning to the dusty colored Pegasus. She remains silent, but does not make any huge efforts to conceal her presence. She is a pale figure among dark stones and pale snow. The trees barely hide her ghostly silhouette amongst where she was previously minding her own business. She waits for him to continue walking or catch onto the ribbon of hormonal smell tossing and tumbling across the open air-waves.
