Oxy stilled, breathing, listening. Actually following my advice, I’m surprised and relieved for his sake. He releases the captive plant, surrendering it to a better existence than between one moist jaws. Crown rises and patched limbs shift this body in reverse, giving needed space to my stricken clan-mate. Slowly, painfully so, the Legatus rises – shaky and seemingly closer to tipping back over than standing firm and making solid his resolve.
