"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Endless Night :: Dead Magic Plot ☼ - 6/22/13 - The gods of Helovia, in order to protect the world, have disappeared into the rift, leaving the world sunless, moonless and magic-less in their absence. Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

so i pulled the trigger and we floated up
Drowning in what is an oddly sweet, refreshing, though in the background, depressing kind of scent that is held by the salt in the air, what was once so quiet except for the calming sound of waves against the sand is so rudely interrupted by a yell.
Startled almost instantly, her legs shift awkwardly below her, prepared for the task of fleeing. Nervous ears swivel about her head at their mounted points while her eyes sweep the area for the owner of that yell. Distant cries of once sleeping birds alert her she wasn't the only one to hear the voice. Anxiety coils within the pit of her barrel as it wraps itself with her intestines. She shakes in her coffin, trying to think if it's best to either dart down to the sea where the voice was loudest, or to turn tail and hope she can climb up and down dunes fast enough.
She's chosen the first by the time she's aware she's skidding down the facade of the dune, sand either pushed to the side or thrown outward as she ski's her casket to the sea, ending her descent with a short leap off the inclines down to the ground. It shifts below, adjusting when there is no more dune weeds to hold it in place. Seconds tick by in what must feel like hours, stiff-bodied in fear of what she can't see, and of what can probably see her. "W-who's there..?" Her voice trembles, each unique sound of her words refusing expellsion in fear of what would come roaring back to her. The lack of noise sends a shiver down her spine, stepping towards the water in hopes that it is nothing more than the misunderstood call of an unseen sea creature.
OOC: I'm so sorry for the wait and badness of this post. My muse has been a bit harsh on me lately.
'Should be home.' Tallis huffed at Evangeline, highly displeased that the mare had wandered so far out of the Edge's borders and had lingered for so long. Now it was dark and who knew what would be lurking in the dark? Not only that, but it was Orangemoon and the cold was beginning to come in from the north and it was dangerous to light fires at night outside of the Edge to keep warm because it would attract predators...
Evangeline began to tune out the dragon as his tirade continued about how she should be home instead of wandering around. She had left to track down some herbs that did not grow natively in the Edge as a little bit of a surprise for the quiet healer. She, of course, had not found the herbs she had wanted because she had been distracted by the ocean. Everytime she saw it she remembered Isilme. She remembered the bodies on the sand, the blood in the water, horns piercing flesh, screams and cries of agony and desperation. Before she had known it the sun had already dipped below the horizon and the moon had risen.
'EVA!' Tallis' sharp voice cut through and the orange mare winced. "WHAT?!" She could not help but yell back at the dragon, her eyes narrowing on him as he hovered, barely visible, in the moonlight. 'DON'T YELL!' He shouted back. "STOP SHOUTING AT ME!" She shouted back at the orange dragon. She had grown tired of his constant nagging since the sun had set. She was a grown mare and could make decisions of where she wanted to go without him chastising her constantly. Who really cared if she was out past sunset, it wasn't like she had a bedtime.
The pair glared at one another for a moment before Tallis directed Eva's gaze down the beach. 'Look.' he said. 'What is it?' The two remained motionless for a moment as they stared at the faintly glowing something. "I don't know." The mare's voice had fallen to a whisper. A minute passed and, unable to fight the curiosity gnawing at her, she moved toward it.

Evangeline could hear the faint sound of movement and in the distance she could see the glowing something that Tallis had pointed out to her move. Whatever it was, she thought, was likely startled by her outburst at the dragon. It was wholly uncharaceristic of her and she realized that she had already made a bad first impression. She could feel that Tallis didn't seem to care about what impression she made as he mentally prodded her about not going investigate the glowing thing in the dark.
"W-who's there..?"
The orange mare paused, her ears tilting forward as she heard the shaky voice. Her head turned and she glanced up at the dragon who was still trying to warn her away. "We scared her, Tallis." Eva said. 'You.' The dragon replied. 'You yell. You scare.' Evangeline snorted and rolled her eyes at the dragon. "Its your fault for yelling at me first." She argued.
When Tallis didn't say anything the mare continued forward and step by step the something became recognizable. The glowing turned out to be a young unicorn mare's horn. Eva's pace slowed and she came to a standstill several yards away from the unicorn. "Hello. I'm terribly sorry if we startled you. We were having a bit of a disagreement." As Eva spoke of her and Tallis' disagreement the dragon landed upon her back, making his bonded wince as he pinched her with his claws. "I am Evangeline. He's Tallis."
