Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

A black raven sat upon a rough cascade of rocks that formed a stunning structure on the northern half of the coast of the Endless Blue. A cold breeze from a stormy and overcast sky ruffled her feathers, and she lightly pecked at some seeds she had gathered from the grasses on the dunes. The rains would arrive soon, but she was unperturbed, no. Her mistress would always protect her, yes.
A little plit plat of water started to fall slowly, languidly as thunder rumbled, the hum of the ocean growing louder. As each drop fell on the raven, it fizzled as if she was made of fire, and black smoke rose in their wake. The rain fell harder, and the raven was then surrounded by a cloud of black haze, protecting her small form entirely.
The black haze seemed to call other dark wisps toward it, and they formed together revealing that they had been transporting a perfect, round, white egg the size of a normal chicken egg. Quietly, the raven sat on the egg, waiting for any to come near who desired such a prize.

The ocean had been her lullaby as she wandered upon the shore, careful to remain as long as possible before finding a haven in which to sleep. Hotaru's deal with Oxy was nearing, and every phase of the moon wasn't able to be properly recorded to a point where an exact date was applicable, leading the fiery maiden to prowl the beaches for a length of days around the specified time in hopes of catching the druggy in the vicinity. Illynx's interest in her deal with Oxy had encouraged Hotaru to continue with their scheming, and though she despised being away from her daughter and herd for such lengths of time, she knew it would be for the better in the end. Even still, she sent a quiet prayer up to her Goddess, hoping Arya was safe despite the Basin being a rather loving and attentive family. Assumptions be damned, because the Aurora citizens were fiercely protective over their children, as seen by the invasion of the Edge that followed when the DragonHeart had abducted their little ones in the first place.
Rumbling in the distance caused a flicker of curved ears, pink hued flesh twisting with uncertainty. Rain was not a preferred environment for her, but she was not so vain as to despise it for what it did to her appearance like her twin sister did. Snorting to herself, suddenly temperamental at the appearance of her twin in her thoughts, the she-wolf stalked along the northern sands of the Blue, intent on forgetting about the evil witch that dared to share her blood and day of birth. What she hadn't been expecting was for the distraction to come in such a...peculiar fashion.
Smoke was furling around some sort of small form, obsidian and vile but oddly beautiful as it coiled and was born from an unseen center. One that was only revealed as Hotaru edged closer, curiosity winning out as she advanced upon the rocky outcrop. It was...a bird? And it was perched upon an egg. Not an abnormal occurrence, except the bird was, well, emitting smoke. Not exactly normal. Hotaru tilted her head at the odd creature, the raven she supposed, and contemplated if this was like the last few times when she had been seeking a companion. Odd occurrences always seemed to surround those, after all. "Hello? Are you...okay?" She finished lamely, because that odd smoke certainly didn't seem healthy.
Something had drawn the mild healer from her sandy home, it was like the storm clouds billowing in the distance were calling her name. She smiled and trotted towards the looming column of chaos, her trinkets clinking merrily above her. The purple and golden haired maiden was not concerned about the hellacious storm brewing ahead of her, or why it was whispering her name. Golden locks streamed behind the horned dove as she moved into a smooth ground eating canter. Smiling brightly Alija bucked and kicked as she neared the storm. The energy pulsing through the air sent a shiver of joy and excitement through her causing a side, she had never been allowed to feel before, slip out. Her laugh tinkled along with her charms as she hopped and cantered towards the gathering storm.
The rain started out slow and soft causing her purple pelt to turn darker in spot. Thunder rippled through the air causing her ears to prick with joy. She loved storms, and being on the beach seemed to magnify the now pounding rain. She was glad that the one shoulder bag she had decided to wear was fairly water resistant so the pounding rain would not ruin her herbs. The desert healer was always careful to carry herbs for bleeding, infections, fevers, pain, and a few other essential emergency plants.
Steel blue eyes could just make out another standing farther way down the beach looking at something. Between the rain and distance she would not hear the other mare speak. Calling loudly enough to be heard she trotted down the slick and sucking sand before coming to a halt in front of the raven perched atop of the egg. Ebony smoke unfurled from around the shinny black bird and white egg. Concerned caused her brows to snap together in worry. Stepping closer shifting to the side that the wind was blowing from she attempted to use her own body to shield the clever smokey avian. Her smile was warm as she gazed down first at the raven then at the mare. "What an odd time to meet, my name is Alija it's nice to meet you both." Her slightly deep voice was warm even though her body was not quite so comfortable.

She was a curious thing, and at times it was more than her own good. The filly moved with ears perked as she looked out at the vast expanse of water before her. Her head turned as a familiar scent wafted in the air. A massive grin passed over her lips as she spotted her mother off in the distance. The child took off running toward her mother giggling as she went, oblivious of the white shadow that loomed a long distance off. Odette always seemed to be there even if her father wasn’t.
The child ran up to her mother’s side a grin passing over her lips. She sought to press herself close to Hotaru’s side and bury her face into the pale mare’s side. Briefly afterward her eyes focused out on the creature before her. Her head cocked slightly and she watched for a moment. “Hi!” She called out despite the mystique of the figure before her. She shifted slightly and glanced over at the other mare but didn’t paid her much mind beyond that, her gaze was focused upon the strange capture before her. For a moment she wanted step forward and get a closer look, but she decided that due to it’s strangeness she would avert trouble by remaining beside her mother. “Do you think it wants to play?” She whispered again to her mother. “Or maybe you want to be friends!” She chimed a bit louder than before, her voice filled with excitement. Childish ignorance prevented the child of knowing the egg that lay beyond and what life lay within it.

The raven saw three come. Only three. How disappointing. She clicked her beak, glaring down at them with a haughty attitude, the black and purple smoke curling seductively around her pristine, ebony feathers. "Okay?" she scoffed. "Of course I am okay." The raven ignored the purple one and moved onto the child. "No, no one wants to play."
The egg nearby was almost glowing with the aura of the rain, but the raven did not care. She was supposed to give it out, so it wouldn't die. But honestly, if it did, would that be the worst thing in the world? Hhmmm.... "All of you are boring," she said, shifting her weight on her thin, slender legs. "Tell me your most interesting story."
A ploy, to be sure. But, what choice did you have?

A broad grin passed over the child’s lips as the bird requested a story. There were thousands of stories her father had told her and ones she had made up herself. Instantly her mind drifted to the tales of knights and damsels her father had told, but she then she decided to make her own twist upon the story. It would be much more fun if the knight was a woman, no one cared about men(at least Arya didn’t). She waited a moment to see if the adults would speak but when neither did she stepped forward.
“Once upon a time,” Arya began as that was how every story had to begin. “There was a great king who ruled over a land vast and beautiful. You see, this king wasn’t any ordinary king she was a girl.” She could feel herself trembling a bit with excitement. This was her story and she would ensure that this woman wasn’t a mere damsel in distress. “She was wild as the winds and she often could be seen running through the thick forests that covered her lands. One day she ran beyond her borders to see a beautiful maiden washing herself in a brook. The king fell hopelessly in love with the dark haired girl. The king approached her and declared her love. The maiden fell in love at first sight as well and the pair went to her father to beg to let the king marry the girl. The lord didn’t want to hand off his beloved daughter so easily, so, he sent the king upon an impossible quest to find a stone that had been lost to their people. The king embarked upon the journey and searched over river and mountain for these stones so she could wed her beloved.
She would find the stone in the depths of the earth where the evilest creatures lived. By this point she was exhausted and when she tried to run off with the stone she would find wolves in her path. As the great battle ensued it would seem hope was lost, until the king’s beloved came and rescued her from the wolves. Then they galloped off into the sunset and lived happily ever after.”
[The story Arya told was a sort of rough retelling of the story of Luthien and Beren ]

The purple antlered doe smiled softly as the foal came cantering through the rain to her presumed mother. Alija watched the pair and sighed softly before turning back to the smoke wrapped raven curiously. The female bird was stunning with her shinny feathers and the rolling purple and black smoke rolling from her tiny form. The healer took no notice that the others seemed to ignore her presence, it wasn't like she mattered nearly as much as the bird protecting the feathers. The smokey creature's voice pricked her interest as she watched the others she thought quietly of her most interesting story. She wondered vaguely if the bird meant something that had actually happened to them, or something they made up on the spot; she chose a story from her past.
Once the filly was done she spoke her own tale. The doe's voice was even, but loud enough to be heard easily by all. "I was born into a herd of nasty warriors, all my herd did was fight among themselves or murder other herds. I made the mistake one time of asking my Father why they killed others, he told me before he beat me, 'Because we can.' All foals were forced to fight each other every day, and it did not matter how much smaller or larger you were than the others, if you were breathing, you were fighting." Her kind voice broke softly as the memory splashed red and sticky through her mind, "I remember one time when the largest and oldest colt in the herd was to spar with the smallest filly. She was only a month old and he was nearing a year." Steel blue eyes flashed to the filly before sliding back to the bird and wrapping up her story, "Lets just say the fight was over quick..." Shivering the mare watched the bird silently brooding over the terrible thoughts.

The Raven glared. She listened to the stories with incredible boredom. No one seemed to be interested in embellishing them at all, and honestly, who cared about such nonsense? One of them had a nonsensical happy ending, and the other one seemed just like pointless bragging, really. Maybe it was a lie? The purple one didn't seem too broken up about having to kill her siblings, but again, the Raven cared not.
But, she was disappointed.
"BOOORRINNGGG!" she cawed in a blood curdling tone."I asked you to tell me a story, not some fanciful nonsense and then some stupid lie." The Raven glared. "You did nothing to help yourselves. The outcome is fate's hands now." Black curled off of the Raven in smokey waves, purple sparks hissing every now and then.
The Random Event was actually looking for a well articulated story with maybe some twists and turns. This was one of the easier drop requests because all it involved was writing and no problem solving, but it seemed like the stories were perfunctory.
Thus the drop roll is as follows:
1,2= Arya | 3 = Alija | 4,5,6 = No Winner
A bolt of lightning flashed from the stormy sky, racing down onto the rocks violently. It struck exactly where the Raven had been sitting, but she had flown away seconds before, as if she knew what was going to happen ahead of time. The egg cracked in half, destroyed, fire curling from the organic matter as it all burned down.
