The herd amassed slow, but steady, like water all running from different places and finally pooling together. At first Ampere was so focused on glowering at Gaucho that she did not notice most of the initial arrivals, but the stare was broken easily by the white frame of Sohalia, and soon after, the children born of them both.

Ampere blinked.

She glanced away hastily, forgetting her place whenever she was alone with him, but remembering it quick and hard the moment the Transcended appeared. It bothered Ampere to think she was so easily manipulated by him. Hadn't she told Sohalia there was nothing left to fear, that Ampere had nothing left to take from her? It's still true Ampere knew, because Gaucho, for all his looks and all his close encounters, was always standing beside Sohalia. Gaucho, for all the feelings that he stirred inside her, was connected to a soul which should not belong to him.

Ampere hated him. She hated him, but somehow she still wanted him too, and she hated that the most.

Desperate for something to occupy herself she cast her gaze about, finding Bucephalus. She bobbed her head towards him when she caught his eye between preening, flashing a wan smile. Her attention quickly averted to Serenity though as the mare pulled up alongside her. Ampere was surprised at first, but relaxed quickly into the notion of this newfound friend. At her words Ampere only grinned, flicking her wings casually and shifting the shark so that it circled above them both, dipping at times down towards Serenity, though never too close lest she receive a painful shock.

Natraj's sudden appearance takes them both by surprise. Ampere's feathers flare and her shark shudders as adrenaline courses through her. Ears pin, head turning grimly as he bounces back into the throng. Her anger faded quickly though, because she could not hold it against him. He was confused, and she pitied him that he would hate the one most likely to help him... Gently Ampere bumped the speckled mare's shoulder with her muzzle, reassuring her about the fox, and reassuring herself for the same reasons.

Before Ampere could fully settle though, another surprise came her way. Flames burst suddenly, ones not as familiar to her as Gauchos. She shied slightly to the left, pressing against Serenity, her heart hammering in her chest. As soon as it happened she knew what it was, or better, who it was, but it did nothing to calm the rhythm of her blood. The God of the Sun poured into all his golden magnificence, just as regal and impressive as she remembered him. His presence alone was a heat that pushed against her, but another one ran deeper inside her, unbidden, but there all the same. She resisted the amorous feeling that budded inside her, but it was futile. As much as she wanted to loathe him for their act, it was hard to resist him when he stood before her. Once again Ampere was disheartened to see how easily her morals collapsed when faced with a challenge, at least in the topics of stallions. Her continued betrayal of herself in matters of love, or better said, lust, was salt on a wound that would not close.

Furious, she peeled her gaze away from him, but it did little to combat the heat outside and in that beat alongside his breath.

News of Africa did not surprise Ampere, though it saddened her to hear it. Both of them had fallen from their golden thrones, and just as easily as it had started, it ended. Ampere felt the weight of that failure pressing on her chest, shortening her breath.
She let herself be swept away in the rest of the meeting tidings, easily lost in the voice of two horses so familiar, yet so strange to her. Gaucho and Sohalia cradled her in sound, a welcome support given the drifting of her soul.

At her name Ampere looked up, a blue blaze burning in her stare, emotions fodder to the restlessness in her bones. She only nodded to his statement, already intent to go whether he announced it or not. She needed to get out of this desert, she needed to do something. Hell, even if they did die, at least she could go out in a blaze of glory swinging, it was certainly better than falling here, hating herself and every stallion near her.

Cera walks away, catching her attention. She is envious of his act, half wanting to do it herself, but unable to. She had run so often before, she supposed the least she could do is stand now.

Trying to not be a creeper smiling in the back while being the creeper in the back. The golden son’s smile gains an extra lift at the thought of the blinders all the others seems to have on towards him. Not that he would complain. The less interaction he had with others here the safer he was against their investigations. The big herd meeting was probably not somewhere one could easily run from. Especially with that brute of a fire bird standing at attention at the front. With a low snort the golden keeps his patience, and allows the meeting to unfold, and his earth eyes to take in all he sees for memory.

There were a great number members, not as much as the Basin, but comparable. The place certainly wasn’t as empty as he thought it was. Each is noted, though few with names as they remain unmentioned. Still, curious relationships begin to develop. The white mare by Gaucho was given the name of Sohalia by a relative of a bat. A golden bird seems thrilled to see Onni, the glowing bird, but then embarrassed at such a show. Later they come together and the gold, wanting to especially know moves slightly closer and while nodding others listens in. Father, the new lead of the Falls….Midas?! He was Midas’s son? A concern flashes over the gold’s face only briefly before he moves off through the crowd. A red bird though looks after him longingly. A chestnut chases her kitsune and looks on worriedly. A quiet beautiful star dusted bird lands next to the black and blue one. The white mare is greeted by a foal, and the close standing of Sohalia and Gaucho has new meaning.

Earth eyes though were unprepared for what came next, though his well-trained body (added by no one else freaking out) remains calm, but the gold is shocked at the flames which begin to roar and take life. The God of Sun. Eyes narrow slightly, the little fire bird from the Basin. She certainly was his daughter. Little did the gold know how close he was to her mother. Listening like a loyal member he so certainly is not the gold hears of a confirming shifting of leads, making the mental note to cite Africa as his ticket here. It was curious though that the one who had lead him here, Andromeda, had not come. All the better though really. Still the God’s warning is curious and yet taken with utter seriousness considering the strange events going on.

Now things were getting interesting though, as names came to faces. Onni, the glowing bird, would move to a doctor, with Alija (a colorful mare arriving late), and Sikeax, the amber unicorn. Cera, the golden bird would be the head crafter with the gold speckled bird of before. The gold also noted the very defensive take the Throat seemed to have. The chestnut mare, Tandavi, and the red, Amani would be replacing him as diviners. And lastly the bat like bird would be their sleuth, and so the gold made special note to avoid that creature carefully. At last the black and blue mare gains the name of Ampere and the notes how the wildfire lingers on her. At last the white bird speaks carefully, then with joy at the announcement of an Academy open to all. That most certainly was a curious notion.

That was all. The horses, mostly birds began to disperse. With a long sigh the golden moved as well, so as to avoid being the last in Gaucho’s eyes. There were certainly horses to avoid, and ones he needed to know better. Most of all, in order to get more acquainted into this place he would need to find that golden prince of Midas, Cera. Soon, but not today. Shaking those twin horns the gold kicks up his heels in the desert and rolls over the dunes to a more secluded place to think.
