have you seen that girl?

Crystalline hooves planting delicate prints within the solid earth, naught to deep, mere divets in the cold soil. Upon high carried withers roosts a dark avian, head sunken, eyes half moons, seeking movement in the surrounding perimeter. A high pitched shriek ruffles the pristine copper tainted feathers, talons scraping against the fem's sleek surface. With wings flailing, a deep screech crawls out of the bird's throat, wings bringing it into the sky. Calling, beckoning, she follows her guide to a small, grassy space beneath the trees of cherry blossoms.

With her neck craned in the direction of the slender avian, she watches it duck down beneath the trees, perching itself upon a branch and screeching. A mare of frost, kissed with a delicate cyan mark upon her hide. Feathered wings rise from the shoulders, obscuring the view of the flake of frost. Settled between her ears is a pale, frostbitten creature, a lump of unfeathered avian. Moving forward slowly, with fear of attack, a fragile maw gapes with no words to spill.

Finally words are summed up, a small smile creeping along a glass canvas, reflecting only what was forced. Within stone cold eyes lies more than what is shown, something painful, one could say glimmers of regret had surfaced. The hatching of the chick was something awful, sending a spiraling of black as she stood.

A childe, freshly covered in blood and fluid, ripe and prepared for the world. Shivering, the babe presses itself to her golden stomach, the touch is warm. The feeling is so alien, the feeling. The emptiness that was once held inside is no more, rather joy and pride swell where the world was once empty, filling the space. Nothing felt better than watching the little heap squirm towards her, tongue slipping out to clean off the poor babe. It was strange to feel this way, as she cleaned up the little thing, her world fell away into darkness, a stabbing pain branching out through her gut, gliding up between thrashing forelegs. A wail struggles up her throat, trapped within her mouth as warm, red liquid drops into the abyss of nothing. An unknown attack leaves a bloody mess, leaving nothing but bloodied hoof prints in their wake. Cowering, the world around the small, helpless dam returns piece by piece.

After a moment of sheer terror, heart racing, mouth gaping, a step is taken. Trembling now, fearing the bloodied steps, the newborn babe, the world itself. Trying to calm the frantic nerves, finding the beak against her side comforting, her guide perched atop her neck, leaning over to relax the tense fem. Words are cooed, soft, delicate words laced with lies. The ruffled feathers flatten out, crimson organ slowing it's pace. "How cute," a strangled smile surfaces, sheer panic racing through the soul of the weary figure. A quiet sound slips from between the dark beak of her guide, his call tainted with serenity, a coo that sounds of joy. "He requests it's name." The bond trembles with joy, a small moment of happiness flowering within.
