Amusement gleamed in his gold gaze, and he dipped his head to her. Did she look delicate? Yes. Did he think she could handle herself? Absolutely. Appearances in Helovia, in any land, were deceiving, or so he had learned. But the thought of her defending him sent the black over the edge, and he hid his laugh with a cough. He didn't want to offend her and send his only interesting conversation in the area away.

"I believe you are more than capable of defending yourself, despite your delicate grace." He hummed, a playful glint in his gaze as he straightened and looked at her. "Villainous me was merely trying to steal more of your time and conversation. It has been long since i heard a voice as sweet as yours." Oh, he knew he was laying it on thick. But it was entertaining, this sort of...well banter. Besides; if he tried charm on most mares he knew, he'd receive a hoof to the boys or they would run. This one did not, and seemed to enjoy his charm.

But when he heard of what sickness took her, his thoughts flickered to the Island, and the event there. A shudder ran down his inky coat, and ears flicked back slightly. But then once again the mood changes, and he smiles. "Well dear Tangere, depends on your tastes. The Thistle Meadow has dried hay under the snow; problem is getting to it. The Throat has cacti flowers, which i recommend trying at least once, you just need to be careful of the thorns." He gave a light shrug, trying to think. Truly the only place he really felt comfortable enough to relax and graze in were the meadow and desert. Everywhere else there had been other things to occupy him, or he simply did not feel safe enough to lower his guard.
