She moves and words tumble from her lips. I'm okay... They cushion my heart and I feel instantly better. I don't even know what I would do if she weren't alright. Would I be blamed? I probably would, considering I brought her here. I was her escort. I can hear the ridicule how - Rhoa, Prince of the Throat allows a pegasus to die on the sands. I push these thoughts from my mind with a shiver as a shadow falls over Spice's body.

I look up, gulping slightly as Mara slithers towards me. I nudge the snake gently as she nuzzles me, settling on my knees. Quickly I turn to Spice, whispering, "Her name is Mara. She's friendly -" I want to say more, to let her know that she's Father's companion and that she won't hurt us and to not be afraid, but I fall silent as Father halts before us. He looms over us, not only because of his height but because we are still on the ground. One day I will be nearly as tall as he is I think, but for now I barely reach his shoulder. I don't know what to say, and divert my gaze to Spice as she tries to explain. Something tells me Father will be unimpressed with her account of what had happened. Wincing slightly, I lean backwards and haul myself into a standing position, resisting the urge to shake and rid myself of the sand that is clinging to my body.
"Father." I say in greeting, nodding my head politely. I try to stand up as straight as I can, but as I mentioned, I am no where near as tall as he is. I fold my wings to my sides and try to meet his gaze. "Me kis afis ..." I begin, speaking in Father's native tongue. I do this partly out of respect, but also to show him that I've been learning my lessons well. Perhaps not as well as Ivezho but ... I am trying. "Her name is Spice." I continue, dropping into the common tongue so that Spice will understand what I am saying. "She had never seen the sea before .. and since she's a pegasus I thought maybe she could stay here?"
