Into the void

His design upon returning to this place was to confront an unpleasant memory - but it seemed only more unpleasantness would greet him today. The serene lake, the chirping birds, the luscious foliage...

And a corpse.

Torleik's brows knitted together in a knot of despair - no, he knew this one! Esther...what had happened to her? A dark weight settled in his chest and the Bloodskald approached carefully, intelligent enough to know that this entire area was a murder scene and anything could lead to the killer. If he trampled all over it he'd be doing Esther a disservice. But it seemed as if others had already done enough to obscure the overtly helpful, as some scratches in the dirt the viking swore should be words were too stamped on to make out.

"Dammit," he cursed softly, glancing around and seeing some others shuffling past. Any one of them could be the killer, returning to the crime. Such behavior was common; though the general was uneducated formally in such things, he'd always taken a keen interest in the behavior of others, those who would bear harm to those around them. He knew bits and pieces, but none of them seemed helpful in this slew of deaths.

Eyes returning to Esther's lifeless form, his lips curled back from white teeth, skin shuddering as he saw her flesh was charred as if touched by fire. Someone, or something, had burnt her. Was that what had killed her? Not enough of her was consumed by the fire. Perhaps she died of smoke inhalation - he couldn't tell.

With a heavy heart and equally leaden hooves, the Bloodskald took his leave of the scene. A conference with Ophelia was necessary. Too many had died.

"talk talk talk"

Aithniel

Fireball;

Aithniel had seen a ghost of her past here in the grove, surrounded by trees and embraced with snow. Now, it was warmer, snow lost to spring and animals chirped and barked within the bushes and boughs. The little girl, who was not quite so little anymore, saw a crowed gathered, many faces, some she recognized, surrounding something else. Was this another body? Her heart sank into her hooves. Cloven, gray feet trotted closer, wings tucked tightly to her sides.

Another body indeed. The demi-god looked over the body, frowning deeply as she saw the burn marks all over the figure of a once proud unicorn female. Why all the needless death? What did this asshole even want? Aithniel sighed, overwhelmed by the site of the blood and agony, especially in this beautiful, peaceful place. The babe set a firm expression on her face and moved to go back home. Where was Rikyn when she needed him?

Erebos and the other one would have to do, she supposed. She didn't want to do this alone, and she really wanted to beat the chubby, loud-mouthed daughter of the Time God. Silver eyes looked out in the distance and she spread her wings, prepared to glide home. Flying was still difficult.
