Lay down here, beside me in the hallowed water...

The day is warm, the sun high in the sky. The winds and snow of Frostfall has finally passed, and birds have taken up their chattering once again as creatures scatter around over the forest floor. But there is still a chill in the breeze, and dragon's breath comes from the velvety nostrils of a figure that appears in the trees.

She is white, like a ghost, and she walks without sound. Her delicately dished head lifts to the air as she tries to pick up a scent in the breeze.
But, there are many, many smells, but she finds nothing alarming, and so she continues her journey.

Her coat is soft and glossy, no sign of the past winter left. She dark arrow upon her back points to her past journey, the road she has taken since running away from her home, five years ago.

She weaves between the trees, carefully moving her head so the two massive horns upon her head doesn't get caught. She is tired, it is easy to see; her movements are slow and unmotivated, almost sluggish, and her head hangs low, her tail dragging behind her lifelessly.

She finally comes upon a stream, and carefully steps in, the sounds of the swishing water filling the silence. She lowers her head as if to drink, but she hesitates, and moves her head over the water. She takes another step and drinks, quenching her thirst before leaping out on the opposite bank.

She then lays down and her eyelids begin to close, but only halfway, and one ear turns, listening for sudden sounds.

Beside me where the silver
lining stays until...
the sirens calling...

Elsa
My head's underwater, but i'm breathing fine.
Elsa had been feeling more than lonely lately. Everyone was just so busy... and there she was with nothing more than meaningless task for her job. Not to mention it seems as if it had been ages since she even sparred. Everything was just so bleh.

Edgar wriggled between her polls, the poor hatchling was growing and all he seemed to do was sleep. His talons wrapped firmly in her mane, the white fluff ball only moved occasionally. Elsa's ears flickered as she heard the sound of a splash. A brooke ran nearby, now thawed from Frostfall's vicious clutch. Birds chirped happily, and Elsa almost turned and went home out of annoyance. How could everyone seem so happy and full of life when she felt like a never-ending void on the inside? Right now would usually be the time when the fluff would speak up and put in his two cents, but he went on sleeping. This whole social problem could only be remedied by Elsa herself.

So.. taking the path towards the sound, she decided it would be best to at least talk to someone. Maybe, if her luck would finally return, they would even want to follow her home to the Falls. The Gods know that that place was in need of a little pick-me-up lately, since everything was changing so fast.

As she moved down the stream, she came upon a white, crystal unicorn situated nearby. She was lying by the steam, and Elsa winced. Was she a Basin unicorn? Sniffing the air a little, she decided it did not smell of cold, desolate hatred, and cleared her throat to try to gain the mare's attention.
"Excuse me miss, but I would not suggest lying like that without a friend. Helovia isn't the nicest of places." She said sheepishly. In a knee-jerk reaction she pinned her wings to the side, trying not to think of the days past. This was the future, and her eye was gone, there was nothing she could do about that. "Oh, and I'm Elsa, Mason of the Hidden Falls. Are you new around here?" She added softly. The last thing she wanted to do was scare her back the way she came.

Lay down here...

She jerked awake when another voice filled the air, sweet and honest. It kind of annoyed the horned one, and she raised her eyes to meet the one who had spoken. Helovia? What on earth could this, this Pegasus . She felt slightly annoyed at the winged one's presence, but it was only natural. She had had the kindness of winged beasts before, and she suspected the repayment the awaited stood right here.

All they wanted was for the marble beast to treat this one kindly.

Her eyes never left the winged child as her mind rambled on. Her cold, dead stare piercing into the kind eyes of the other. She finally tore her eyes away, an act of kindness for the ghost in it's own.

She is called Elsa then? What a strange name. Hollow even, it seems to not hold any meaning. Then again, nothing really had meaning, did it? A small smile tucked at her lips as she humoured in her reasoning. How ever did such an innocent child become so empty? It's sad really, tragic even. That something once so spirited and free had become so drained and hollow.

The other....Elsa, was taller than the unicorn, she could see that even from her low point. Then suddenly she realised she had not said anything so far. "My, my, that's a shame isn't it? Don't worry, I can take care of my self very well," she said and grinned. The grin was crooked and inexperienced, but it was there.

But, she still got up and looked at Elsa in her piercing, empty way. "I am new, I guess you could say. What on earth is Helovia, and the Hidden Falls?" she asked, not sounding interested at all.

She sighed and gazed at the stream, her mind seeming to be somewhere else.

Elsa
My head's underwater, but i'm breathing fine.

At first the pale unicorn didn't speak at all, all she did was look. Her eyes were just as blue as her own, however they lacked the emotion. Elsa watched back, never waving from her gaze until she turned away. This was already turning out to be one peculiar little unicorn.

It was a while before she spoke again, when her eyes turned away it was filled with a silence. Elsa was ready to speak and leave, when the mare spoke. Her words made Elsa grin a little at the newcomer, this was a naive thought that everyone seemed to have. Then they lose an eye and others with random children. "Suit yourself." Elsa said with a shrug, and a slightly sarcastic smile covering her face. It wasn't out of malice, but more of her letting this newcomer make her own decision. It wasn't in Elsa's place to tell others what they can and cannot do. Look at how well that worked out with Ampere, the girl won every single newcomer with her sexual words and grandiose entrances. It pissed Elsa off that it seemed that she could get away with selling her body, and Elsa told her that multiple times. After losing a number of recruits, she finally learned that she could only control herself, and not the others around her.

The mare spoke again, but her words were rather dead. This piqued Elsa's interest, why was this mare here then? Did she not want to try to make any connections? Nonetheless a question was asked and she would answer it regardless if she wanted to hear it now or not. "Helovia is the land you have wandered into. A land of demons, gods, and mortals." Elsa said with faux mysticism, Helovia was exactly that, but saying it just made Helovia seem so... fairytale-like. "The Hidden Falls the herd I reside in. Its like a drug being here in Helovia, once you come in, you can never leave." She finished, sliding up against a tree to support her weight and to wait for this unusual, and still stranger mare to speak again.

Lay down here...

So the Pegasus was made of more than the unicorn thought. She did not squirm under her gaze, merely returning it. That's what Fable figured though, looking at that eye; it did not look like something the Pegasus had had since birth. The unicorn's own scar itched, the one under her eye that dripped down like blood or venom.

The Pegasus replied then, a grin settling upon her face, but it was weird, strange. Fable's blue pools narrowed at Elsa, before she seemed to lose interest and looked away again, into the forest. She found her company quite interesting, friendly even, but the little white one no longer believed in friendliness, or kindness for that matter.

She no longer believed in anything; there was nothing for her to hold onto. Too many times she had been abandoned, too many times she had everything she loved ripped out of her grasp. She finally settled on not believing, not loving. She finally gave up, living without a will or hope. Like a ghost wondering the earth. That's what she was, a ghost. She had a beating heart, but she had no real heart . She had lungs, but she did not breathe . She had a soul, but she was lifeless. She was left cold and frightened deep down, her light faded, and finally, after so much suffering, it died.

It was easier that way.

The Pegasus spoke again, and Fable turned her dished head to face her once again. A herd ? Herds were useless; they provided a false sense of security and false love, and then they abandon you when you need them most. Herds are a cruel joke. And what was this about mortals and demons? Was Fable herself not a demon, was the ghosts inside everybody not gods who ruled everybody with fear?

A scowl set upon Fable's features. This...this Elsa had just torn apart all her beliefs in a mere two sentences. Maybe this place was truly wicked. The Pegasus leaned against a tree, resting Fable supposed.

"Why are you in a herd? What is the point?" she asked, wondering. There seemed to be actual emotion behind the question, but it was hard to tell. "And what do you mean I can not leave? Who will stop me?"

Elsa
My head's underwater, but i'm breathing fine.

Elsa was more than accustomed to loneliness. She experienced it on all levels, whether regarding the ability to be happy with herself, or the ability to be happy in the company of others. It was an inner struggle that raged on even to this day, but it was certainly under a little more control. Now she was able the channel that loneliness into something reminiscent of work. Like now, even if she felt lonely at least she could be somewhat productive because her loneliness forced her to be. It was kind of a bittersweet relationship between loneliness in work. Without loneliness, Elsa would be content to not work. However, with loneliness, Elsa has to work. It was a weird way of thinking, but effective.

Her words seemed to pique something within the mare, and she at least asked a question instead of stating her authority. Elsa flicked her tail lazily, much more relaxed and outspoken than when she had arrived. The strangers confidence in herself made it a little easier for Elsa to explain things to the point. There was no dancing around petty conversation and introductions, only questions and answers. "I'll answer, but I would prefer not to remain in the dark of who you are." Elsa said pointedly. If she was going to explain her life, even in the most shallow sense, she at least deserved a name. "A herd is the only way to survive, unless you prefer running around by yourself as an outcast. Don't expect any help though, unless you feel like being a diplomat and talking politics with the herd leaders." She said nonchalantly. It came off as if Elsa didn't like her leaders, but in fact, she did. Elsa looked on Ghost and Midas with the upmost respect. They had shown her nothing but kindness, and Elsa couldn't detest them for that.

Then, the mare asked a question that made her laugh. She asked if anyone was keeping her here. So with a little chuckle, she began. "Sure, but with the rash of murders that have been occurring, you may not even make it past the boarder." She said with a grin, and said nothing more. The rash of murders lately have set her on edge, which is why she was wary to travel alone. Although striking fear into newcomers was something that satiated the little side of insanity in her. "So if i've sufficiently confused you, basically you have three options as of now. Well, four, but, that requires work. You can follow me home, leave here, be an outcast, or go explore the other herds. Three more to be exact, I would suggest making a choice shortly." She said, her face falling into a poker-face facade. The choice was hers, of course the Falls were in need of some newcomers, but she couldn't forcibly bring anyone back.

Lay down here...

A small nod came from Fable when Elsa asked her name, as if a long awaited question has been asked. Mother always said never introduce yourself if your name is not asked, that way, you can see who is trying to get something from you. Elsa, she did not want anything. Fable's shoulders slightly slacked at this, she was not in terrible danger just yet. She suppressed a laugh at Elsa's explanation of a herd though; she's been surviving on her own for years. Not living, but surviving. She took no notice of the tone of Elsa's voice, her subconscious simply pining it to the back of her mind.

Elsa had a very business only air about her, and so Fable decided to do the same, and cut to the point. "Fable. My name is Fable," she said flatly. She seemed to be almost confused by her calling, as if she can't quite remember what her name was, or where she'd gotten it. Elsa chuckled at Fable's question, and the unicorn's jaw tightened, jutting out squarely. But she proceeded with an answer, and Fable relaxed slightly.

Murders? How...interesting. Fable thought murders were quite petty; useless creatures murdering someone that is in their way. Fable has seen quite a few murders, and done a handful herself, but her motives were different. She had nobody in her way, she simply wanted something, someone...

Three options? Fable chuckled to herself as she thought; 'Eenie Meenie Miny Mo...'. Which one should I go? Her choice was quite obvious; but she knew deep, very very deep inside herself, she hoped to one day think differently.

"Thank you for your lovely offer," she said a bit sarcastically, "But I think I might just wander alone," she said and turned to leave.

Not; You don't have to reply to this if you don't want to, Klare! :)

Elsa
My head's underwater, but i'm breathing fine.

With her name finally in light, she let it roll around in her head. Fable.. such a word was used to describe faux stories of heroic deeds back at her homeland. Why would someone be dubbed such a name? Was she in all essence... fake?

What intrigued her most, however, was the literal poker-face reaction to her mentioning murders. There was not a tinge of fear, sadness, or anger. That right there was odd, even Elsa had been afraid when she had first heard the news that a rash of murders were being committed. Then again, Fable could be the murderer for all she knew, although she lacked any basis for that. Yet not even a response came from the mention, she simply just listened to her next offers, and decided then to chime in once more.

She picked her path to be an outcast, and Elsa grinned. It was a grin of amusement and also blatant inner-loathing. No matter who she came across, she could not seem to convince them to follow her home. Maybe she just wasn't amusing to talk to, but it still bugged her that her last couple of attempts were utter failures. This one, however, seemed to be an outcast by heart, and to that, Elsa was amused. Fable would need help eventually right? There is always some time to swindle her to return when she is in a time of need. So as Fable turned to leave Elsa spoke to her one last thing, "Well, you know where to find me should you ever need help, Fable." She tacked the name on at the end to try to rile her up a little, as she seemed the type that didn't liked to be addressed by name when it wasn't needed.

Elsa, however, was not about to stick around and be an escort. Turning, and cantering a few steps, she spread her wings and rose above the trees again. From up here, she felt freed from the chains of the threshold. At least another could be freed from the chains of that purgatory also.

[@[Fable] I figured I should post anyways to wrap it up ^^ I <3 fable btw, love her personality. xD]
