For all the riches in the world, Elsa would’ve bet that between the two of them, she would have uttered those words first. Even if he doesn’t mean it, the words still mean something right? Deep down somewhere he has to feel it to even think to say it… right? She wants to believe with every ounce of her being that he means it, but that doesn’t light up the darkness of her mind. Deep down inside she still wonders if the drugs are the reason he even gave her a chance, granted she had spoken to him when he was in detox, but was she just a temporary fix? It was these very thoughts that made her stand still in complete silence, hoping that he says something to at least make her think that he means it.

He suddenly moves and for once she flinches, not in a bad way, but from actually being caught off guard. She lets it happen though; him being close makes her feel so at ease so why now when he professes his love, does she feel like this? Does she not want to be hurt? Does she not want to lose something again? Her mind reels, thinking of how hard it would hurt to fall, and then to miss again. The first couple of times weren’t so bad, her parents and sister could do nothing about it. The fall was inevitable. Yet here, the one she wants to give everything to can just walk away, and she doesn’t know if she could handle the shatter that he can create. There are only so many times ice can shatter before it becomes nothing but another drop of water in the ocean that does not care.

She can’t help it though, and she tucks her body underneath his neck if he allows it. He even tries to convince her to not be mad… how could she ever be mad at him? Of all the people in this wretched land he was the only one to even show an ounce of care for her. Sure Amani and Abishia both loved her, but she was more of necessity for them, a keeper. So Oxy was the only one who wanted to keep the keeper. She reaches her nose to press it against his shoulder, to know he’s still there. The movement was something of an odd comfort to her. Even though nothing has gone wrong, every meeting is like a flood of relief. She knows he’s still here and breathing, but every time he’s gone, whether she’s aware of it or not, she cannot help but feel empty, like a part of her is stuck with him. If he goes, so does that part of her. "I.." She begins to speak for he keeps talking, he missed her. She swallows back the tears that are burning at the bottom of her throat. Why should she be sad? Why is it so wrong for someone to love her. "Then don't leave." She says quietly, trying to finish. She needs to say the words that have been rambling around in her head.

"And I love you." And she's falling, she's falling so hard that no matter what happens she'll be shattered if his existence goes. She can shatter because she knows no one else can ever catch her the way he can, if he so chooses. Her eyes well but she still does not cry, she's too happy to cry.
