always a villain
even when I'm not

Brisé was no longer on edge as he responded to her comments with humorous lighthearted replies. She could finally breath without suspending it every time he spoke. It felt nice, to let go and just trust him. When he sighed she looked at the brute curiously. "No doubt. It seems karma has paid you a visit at least once." Her tone was not inquiring but matter-of-fact, stating facts not asking questions. When she spoke Brise focused on his cracked horn but soon looked away to avoid offending him. Brisé said she would not pry and she intended to keep her word.

As she had laughed at him Brisé could not help but notice his dog seemed rather amused as well with his tail wagging. D'Art did not seem to share his companies opinions and as he faked a pained expression Brisé smiled softly. He spoke curtly and Brisé could definitely hear a hint of relief in his words. She pursed her lips considering saying something else but decided against it. Miserable horses were quite a drag to deal with when traveling. As she drew herself back to reality the thundering of hooves caught her ears. Brisé turned quickly to see the stallion and his beast racing away. Yay, more running. She quickly kicked up her heels and caught up to d'Art in a couple minutes.

Brisé was not smiling as she ran along with the pair but her face was definitely softer, less distant and cold. As they approached an area called Hidden Falls the brute explained briefly about it and Brisé looked into it somewhat interested. As nice as it was she wanted to know what the Basin looked like. When they finally arrived in the chillier parts of the mountain Brisé looked around her in awe. When they finally arrived in front of the mechanical beast Brisé looked at it impressed. As her guide spoke she looked looked at him politely before she went back to studying the mechanical beast. It was a shame she was not interested in crafting because making something like that would have been worthwhile. So enamored was she that she did not notice the foal at all.

The stallion quickly walked past the machine a few seconds after he spoke and Brisé did not hesitate in following him. When he finally stopped Brisé could see the entirety of the Basin by turning her head either way. She looked at everything stunned, no words could describe what she was feeling. Well except for maybe one. "Home.." She whispered it quietly, almost to the point where it wasn't audible. Brisé looked back at d'Art and smiled broadly, the first real smile to fall upon her lips since she could remember. The feeling of happiness wasn't strong but it was enough to chip a bit more of the armor off her heart.

But as she drew in the last of her surroundings a unique smell hit her nostrils. Brisé could smell someone else here, and the scent was fresh and reeked of innocence. Curious Brisé followed her nose until she noticed an ebony colt on spindly legs standing before her. She looked back at the hound and her acquaintance hoping they noticed her absence before she turned back to look at the babe. "You seem to be a bit far from your mother." Her words did not hold any emotion and Brisé quickly put her armor back on. Some small part of her was telling her to go back to how she was a few seconds ago, it was only a foal, not someone that could hurt you. Yet she shoved the rational thoughts away and looked at the colt with an indifferent gaze waiting for what d'Art would have to say about the situation.
