Scarecrow The days had dragged on immensely since he had arrived. He was too mute to do much, only cower behind fillies in fear for himself. So he resided within the shadows. Shadows, however, were much harder to find here. Amidst the sun, cactus and palm trees there was rarely a respite from living conspicuously. So the water had served as his companion for the time being. His scarecrow hung heavily from his neck, it was his albatross that would never go away. Although it itched and scratched at the skin of his chest, he had grown used to it by now. His growing body was accustomed to more than when he arrived. He was taller now, nearing his height of seventeen hands. Yet, the muscle he lacked. His body was lean, and any warrior could consider him malnourished. Not straying from the shore, his grazing was limited to see grasses and anything that looked edible when washed up on the shore. He had learned quickly that fish both smell and taste awful. So the shadow was becoming nothing more than a faded memory here. It was sad really, but to his own fault of course. As a child, and mute, that scary leader man did not make him feel any more comfortable. Cerin knew for sure that he would never find out about his little secret. The images of him killing Cerin crossed his mind numerous times. The girl he'd met, Sia the man called her? She was nice, she stood up to him. Although Cerin hadn't proved himself in any way. He was still nothing more than a mute who had no talent. The boy found a little rocky patch near the ocean. He curled up between to large boulders, placing his head gently against the sand. His nose pressed into the damp ground, leaving an impression. He sighed knowing that was the only good impression he would ever get of himself. It was nice out, her mane whipped in the wind as she ran, head whipping back as she whinnied, it was shrill and exited. She ran until she couldn't, her lungs burning for rest. Her hooves kicked up the softening sands as she headed for the oasis. It was clean water, wasn't it? Contemplating the easy-access water, she slowed, her still young lungs heaving. She threw out her chest, it made it easier to breath that way. In which the lungs are set free, not hunched over.
The dappled girl then made her way to the sea, slowly. Bit by bit she walked. Around the small oasis, towards the shore on the other side. She could faintly hear the crashing of waves on the sand and rocks, making her want to run, but she knew she had she breath for a second. After that long run, she needed to think. She needed-well, she didn't know exactly- but she needed some time to just let go and wander and do something stupid. I wonder where Rhoa is...? She didn't ponder this question for long. She assumed he was only out doing something with family or friends. He didn't need to be with her every second of the day. Today was just like when she had left to the cold lands, passing through the threshold on the way back. She had met a new friend. One with stick on their forehead. Just like the grey colt she met in the Steppe, the chilly air came back to her even now. The dark sky above them reflected in her eyes as she flew for him. Just like the bright red stallion she had tended to in that arched cave, with the mare right beside him. The wounds seemed painful and dreading, and she didn't dare look back as she sulked from that lonely cave. She soon stops short at the sight of a small soul lost out on the rocks, slipped in between two the creature seemed so small and frail. Like it could brake if nudged by a gentle muzzle. She wonders if it was worth it to help the poor thing out... And before she knew it, she was fluttering her way towards it. Her eyes itching to get a look at the-now identified-colt. He was cute, she stated this from his light coloring (which, by the way, was very formal in a man) and modest markings. Unlike the big and strong Wildfire, this one was simple. Although, he did have something wrapped around his neck... Spice approached softly, her hooves sliding in the unnoticed sand under hoof. She is then standing in front of the boy. A worried look cast upon her brow, caused by the state he is in, which, was not happy. At all. "Are you okay?" Her voice strained with worry and concern for this poor crumpled thing in between two underserving (ugly) rocks of such a beautiful colt. {@[Cerin]}

Spice was unsure about this nod of his, though he seemed set in it that he was okay. The boy had an odd aura about him, a silent one. If he made a sound, he would not be allowed to keep his life. That would be a horrible religion to live by. Hm, maybe not religion maybe... an oath? Who knew, if he didn't speak, right?
Though, he did seem pretty normal in many different ways as well. She smiled as he motioned to the now-visible thing around his neck. She didn't really know what it was. But she liked how he nudged the thing on his neck, seemingly trying to show her something. Tell her something, maybe. But she couldn't decide that just yet, because she didn't know if he could and would speak or not. She smiled, trying to understand. She reached out her muzzle, giving the thing a soft nudge. "What is it?" She asked, a bit clueless to the scarecrow draped around his neck. Spice looked him in the eye, then up then down. Smiling more, she looked at the thing around his neck. It looked like a doll of sorts. Though, she couldn't really be sure. She had been described what a doll was, and pictured it in her head as best as she could. They supposedly wore something called clothes instead of markings. And hats instead of regular mane and forelock. But she didn't know what these things where. Spice only knew they where meant to cover up and conceal. Nothing more than that. Her mother seemed to know exactly what to tell her, at times. She didn't like it. At all. She needed a clear definition. Something she could see. Though, her mother did not have any of that in her possession. And as Spice looked back, it seemed that they would live day in and day out with nothing but grass and lessons and imagination. That was what made her different, she decided alone in her own thoughts and head, she had an imagination beyond compare. Forced to visualize things inside her own head, not to see if they are real or not. She wouldn't know. She would never know if they where real unless she saw. Unless she believed they where real. {@[Cerin]} ooc;; yes please! You? c:

The girl hadn’t seen it coming. When he rears, she takes a step forward to steady him, her muzzle reaching out…
Suddenly she could not speak kind words. She saw herself, a look of concern glazing in her eyes and she wanted to speak. But she could not. Something had held her back from getting the words out. Something stopped her from showing emotions through words. And she didn’t like it. She felt fear. A lot of it. She didn’t like the feeling of something she could not push away, engulf her from all sides. And then it was all over. She pulled her muzzle away, leaving contact with him. “What was that?” She asked, her eyes glazed over with something like fear and confusion. Wonder mixed in between. She wanted to know what that was and how it had happened. “What happened? How did you do that?” She wasn’t scared…not much. Just…thoughtful. What was that and how in the world did he do it? She wondered why and how that was even possible. As interesting as it was, she was still a bit scared of it. Not specifically of him, just…whatever that was. “Did you do that?” She asked, her eyes flashing with thoughtful consideration of this boy. “How..?” She realized she was only asking questions. Nodding silently and quickly, she let herself calm down. Looking back up at him, she caught his eye, trying to read him. He hadn’t said anything yet. “Sorry. I meant…I’m not trying to be mean, but…How in the world did you do that?” Spice’s eyes glazed with thought. “I don’t understand…?” Her eyes danced to the sandy ground. Watching at the sand and rocks, and their meeting points. How they collided and somehow made her want to stare more... She looked up at him, having a stupid idea. Her eyes glistened as she reached out again, unafraid of what it might become of... She made contact with his seemingly-frail body. Her warm muzzle brushing buckskin pelt. She could feel a fear and a mute kind...pain...She could see herself, reaching out to him. She pulled back. She looked at him in a new way. "I'm sorry..." the girl didn't exactly get how that was possible, that seeing herself thing. {@[Cerin]} ooc;; c: Sorry for the lateness!

Spice's confusion and question asking starts to die down, though her eyes are still controlled by the fear of something like fear and questioning. She stares at the other boy in a different kind of shock. The pity kind of shock. She realizes, her head dipping towards him. She doesn't want to be mean. And she has already worded that.
"I am sorry..." she murmurs, and she contemplates touching him again. It had some odd urge to it. Like she just needed to feel that pain one more time. Just to see if it was not just something from her own mind. She does not notice that the boy has stepped back, pushed up against a rock, feeling in which that he is trapped...very very small tears come to her eyes. This is not how she wanted to meet someone new. She wonders if anyone else is like this and what it is like for them. Do they feel alone? Scared? She had to think about him, first. She looks back up at him, easily blinking away the wet in her eyes she find him reaching out for him. And in a gesture of friendship, she reaches out in her will, pink muzzle reaching for the side of his neck to nuzzle in friendly way... She does not want to experience this again, but she also does odd and unwelcome excitement rises in her chest. She does not like it, but to believe she is not going insane and to understand...This is what has to happen. {@[Cerin]}

The girl, unable to pull that want from herself, stays in one spot as they touch. The want she is thinking about is the want to pull away.
But, she can't seem to find it. There is no reason to abandon such a boy on a rocky shore in a place he might not be familiar with. It was simply just...not fair. The world wasn't fair. But, that was just how it went. How it works. How it will always work. Here, anyway. She is put into a dream-like state. A memory of his maybe? He is there, and she is seeing it in his eyes, though still in her own mind. A silver mother cradles him. She is bound by the color of the moon, and as she looks upon her childe in great adore and care. The boy, he wants to move. Restless. But, he is bound by her orders. Staying. The dawn, it comes in a bright flash of light. Clear tears steam down the face of the moon mare, and she is praising. Praising something.... the light. It touches the childe and he can see it all. Through the eyes of something else, somewhere out there, he can see himself. Putting images into the minds of others...and it was gone. The childe soon after fell asleep in a curl of body and newborn touch; the mother soon after hears the footsteps of a man. He stands tall, and quite upset. When the boy wakes, Spice almost pulls away. This must be his memory of the time he received his necklace. He slips the rough doll over his head in a comfortable position. Scene shifting, he was in a cave with a frantic mom. She was scared for him. For what they would do. The others, they are coming for him and right now, multiple occupants of a group pushes their way into the space where him and his mother hide. They yell to him, calling a name. "Cerin!" Spice finds this is not the mother's name. It is his, the boy's. Ocean boy's name is Cerin. Cerin is beautiful, she decides in her own mind for a nano second. They prod him away, sticks and pointy things shoving him away, away, away. To the edge of their land he goes before running as fast and hard as ever before, if there had ever been an ever before. The scarecrow still hangs around his neck. Scarecrow Spice likes that name better than doll. When Cerin pulls away, she stares at him intently. Wondering if that was really him in his little dream-thingy. "Cerin. I can help you." She whispers. {@[Cerin] "I can help you" is all I've got as of now for words. So so so sorry for the delay. And, I love how he is like the Giver. :D}

She watches.
She nods. She smiles. The girl understood the look of shock that had taken over his face. The look spreading his posture as well, his eyes taking most of the effect, widening. He couldn't speak. She watched as he stuck his tongue out gently and told her silently not to tell. Why would she ever dare think of it? "Never in a million years would I say anything that could hurt you, a new friend, Cerin." She wanted to say his name again. To hear it on her own tongue. She wished she could hear it on his. Wondering what was going on in that ever-so-scarred mind of his, she tilted her head as he started to draw in the little sand they had in the rocky parts of the edge that fell off to sea. He drew the shape of a moon. A crescent. She nodded. "The night. The moon...moon meeting...talking under the moon" she guessed all the things that came to mind when he drew it. Looking into his eyes, wondering if she could get lost in them for a little while. Beside the crescent, he drew a pair of antlers with a line through. The first thing that came to mind was Kvothe and his antler horn and weird tail. But these where much different than one. Gaucho. She nodded. "No telling Gaucho" she said, as thought reading the pictures out like they where words on a scroll. Now, the boy dare reach out to touch noses with her, she stepped closer, not scared of more contact, as she had slept beside her mother each nice to keep warm and had been accompanied my the cold winds that blew from the sea. It was nice to feel a warm body on hers as she nuzzled his neck, eyes closed, though already fluttering back open. "A new friend" she whispered in his ear. {@[Cerin]}
