The forest around them seemed to murmur quietly, and the wind – with breath as soft as silk – whispered so delicately of brave passion, born from the pits of fathomless grief. Midas had suffered many times over. He had been forsaken in love, death haunted his steps like the memory of former happiness, and the one-winged mare had not forgotten the commitment to follow; the care needed to tend the brittle relics of his heart.
