A smile couldn't help but consume the young boys face when she returned his little greeting. Although she was obviously in some sort of pain, she should be happy for the confidence that was now renewed within the pale boy was palpable. Her look was even more comforting, and if she was annoyed with him, she was hiding it well. So often it was easy for him to predict the horse based on their subtleties. The smallest muscle twitch or head tilt did not pass by without scrutiny from him. Each emotion had its quirks, sadness weighed them down. Their gait, ears, or eyes screamed of longing to be healed. Happiness was a bright, and sometimes rare emotion. The ears would be forward, and even in the pauses between words a smile would remain. Gratitude was weighed with reactions, did they watch you? Did they turn away? Such was how each and every individual movement passed by his eyes. When watching the body, it could sometimes tell more than words themselves.

An apology fell softly from her lips like a tiny breath of cotton springing free. The smile that was still settled upon his face grew wider as he watched her move. She looked uncomfortable by the little fluttering coming from her wings. It was hard to discern nervousness from discomfort, especially in a species he really had never been around. So just in case he shook his head, to deny his acceptance of her apology. He would not take those unneeded words. Apologies were for dire situations. Too often he had heard the words "I'm sorry.."drift from the lips of mothers who looked upon him like an abandoned piece of trash. It was an empty apology, for who can truly be sorry for their emotions? It was a natural response.

His tiny hooves took a step back, then to give her a little space instead of standing in front of her like a towering guardian. Funny to think that she may be intimidated by him, although her demeanor may change when she realizes he is nothing but a weak boy. There is no strength in his bones, and his appearance did not help. So often his body was deceiving, although he was strong, it was not to be used. Wasted strength he would say if he could talk.

The wind blew again, causing her small body to shake. Funny, for he hadn't even noticed how cool the wind was. It did cut into him, but he was so used to it that temperature didn't even seem to register with him anymore. He snorted a little at his own contemplations, watching quietly as she went back on to explaining herself. It seemed naive enough, and he nodded at the sound of her name. It was pretty, unique, something that he was again not. It was a weird feeling for him to feel so inferior to someone so young. Age was getting to him, and soon he may be the old stallion who fears anyone but himself. Then her words dove back into an apology and he shook his head furiously. Mane flopped back and forth, it was in its awkward in-between state. He wasn't a man, so therefore didn't have a mane, but he was not a fluffy tailed child. Another breeze interrupted then, clawing at her fragile body once more. A cringe fell across his face as he watched her fall into an even colder state. He had been keeping her from warmth.

As he began to take another step back, she had more to say. His ears swiveled to listen intently. She was... inviting him? Inviting him... to join... her? It was such an incomprehensible thought, and one he'd thought he'd never have. Did she not care for his muteness, and the way he could convey no emotion at all? Hesitantly, he stepped forward following the spotted girl to her resting place. He paused for a moment, standing over her as she got situated. It almost felt wrong to do either of the choices. Leaving her would be a bad idea, who knew what was out there? Cerin knew the dangers that lingered in the shadows, but did Myrrine? On the other hand, if he did stay, he'd have to be really careful. Especially his thoughts of her were rather fond, and she didn't need her seeing him so pathetically admiring a girl he'd just met.

Taking a gulp, he stood for a few moments torn between going and staying. Standing there was obviously not the best choice, because even he felt quite awkward not being at the same level as she. Carefully, he stepped over to her left, eyeing her every movement as he lowered himself to the ground. If she wanted him to leave, he would, she just had to say the word. Another nervous swallow broke through his silence as he nodded, trying to convey that he would stay.

How could this be amusing for her though? One who could not take was the most uninteresting thing ever. Very few could ever get around without a word, much less make any friends. He just hoped, if she bid him adieu, that she would be tender about it. Cerin's heart was already scarred enough, and he didn't want to have to leave another place again.
