They were no longer children. The fawn at his side was no longer a child, but had grown into an incredibly strong doe. Even her markings began radiating wispy black smoke from the white spots that had seemed to instantly darken. Even her fuzzy fawn antlers had became an impressive rack. The tines extended from the basis of her breed, curling around in so many points he lost count. Her feelings, however, had not changed a single bit.

Between her horns she dawned the only remnants of fun she can remember. The speckled pegasus' feather from the Throat. It was the only time she can every remember enjoying being out an about. Any time after was just a rush of boring, repetitive motions. Biru lowered his muzzle, gently bumping the doe and reminding her that she had a life to look forward to. Eventually they would find somewhere eventually, whether that was settled with a herd or otherwise.

Deciding that they needed some respite from all the open, lonely fields the duo moved to a more secluded area. The forest is where they were headed, trying to move into the respite of the shadows. It was no long until the looming, ominous trees towered over them with an incredibly strong presence. The way the gentle birdsong breeze blew through here completely changed the melody. What was usually a harmonious and comforting gust, now sung a song of melancholy loneliness. Well, this was turning out to be an a lot less interesting life. His mind began to wander back to Lia, at least there he had a purpose. Even if she did destroy him, death was better than permanent limbo.

The doe bleated in anger at his side. If she could find the best of these situations, so could he. Her anger radiated around him like a mother scolding a child. Ignorant. She snorted angrily and Biru pinned his ears. Ever since she had begun to speak in his mind, she became more and more independent. He felt as if the only happiness he had was growing apart from him. Do anything. She stated simply after that, glaring at him through chilled grey eyes.

"They've forgotten about us." The lady's hymn was laced with it's usual sadness. Golden orbs trained upon the horizon as if searching for a better future, the one that her parents had promised to her.
This was not how she had planned out her life.

It was a bitter chuckle that passed through her lips. The doe had not returned to The Basin for almost an entire season. How was she when all that remained for her was betrayal?
How could she return to them? It no longer felt like home. Without a purpose to drive her back there was no reason to even wonder when or if she should return.
Maybe she truly had been living in The Basin for too long, most of the locals where cold and distant and if she had truly frozen over perhaps it was time to thaw out her frozen heart.

Then again, she wasn't the one known as the Frostheart.
Then again, she'd never really believed that about Mauja.

Because in the end she had still carried them for months of her life, she had trusted him not to run. Love. A roll of her eyes proved her current feelings, all love had done for her was blacken her battered heart.

Wynter shrieked in the sky above her, the snowy griffin swooped down and flew a circle around her. 'Deireadh an-,' an icy breeze blasted through the tree whipping her forelock across her eyes. A smile had danced along her chops at her companion's words though, Wynter was loyal and loving. Traits often hard pressed to be found in others. Often she felt as if her bonded would be the only one who would remain by her side throughout her life - the only one who stood by her as she fell.
Setting the pace at a brisk trot, the doe allowed Wynter to guide her through the trees. Her attention was focused inwards, most considered how to rise to power, what their family was doing, things they owed, jobs to do, yet the doe was concerned about how she was going to climb up out of this depressing ditch she'd fallen into.

The sound of movement reaches her ears, something heavy moving through the rushes...perhaps there was two of them moving through the sometimes eerie forest. Pulling to a stop, the doe glances towards her left, the sounds seemed to be migrating from there. Considering her options, it is a moment before her changes her direction and cautiously moves towards the noises. Strangers always brought interesting conversation and allowed her to escape reality from time to time.

As she emerged from the trees herself she finally spotted the pair a few meters behind her. Golden orbs darted from stallion to doe. His coat was painted with a beautiful black, where it shone in the light that occasionally against the light that filtered through the trees. Yet in palled against the white of his coat, the blinding flashes of white where what Arah assumed her caught her attention at first. Brilliant blood stained eyes captivated her attention, they drew her in, the opened his soul up to her. Finally the golden horn the spiralled up gleamed at her as she studied him. As she had originally guessed his frame was sturdy. Beside him was (what Arah assumed) his bonded, the smaller creature shared many resembles with her in appearance perhaps, yet no doubt their natures where completely different.
Raising her eyes and voice she finally speaks and Wynter comes to land beside her. "Many blessings."

The doe's anger subsided after a few moments. Her little tantrums (well deserved, of course) only lasted for a few moments. Annabelle was not the one to hold grudges, but she was more than a submissive companion. Over the time, Biru had learned that she had been put in his life to be a cheerleader and mentor. Who else would guide a lost soul through a land that was more mysterious to him than the wilderness that surrounded it? So lost in his own thought, Annabelle was the only one to notice the white mare approach. She didn't say anything, but rather let the mare's words grab his attention.

Her voice was quiet, and unexpected at the least. "Many Blessings", such a statement he would usually scoff at, but she did have a point. Even though she knew nothing of his past, of his missing mother and father, he did at least have a companion and life. Here, it seemed that both were a coveted thing. Nodding a bit to address her, he cleared his throat. What was he supposed to say to her? He was so drawn out away from society that his manners were rusty, and his once smooth voice had become rusted with lack of use. "Hello." He stated, quickly searching his mind for the words to say. "Not many wander through here." he commented. Annabelle, had other plans though, as she took a few tentative steps forward away from Biru to walk up to Arah and her mysterious companion. She had never seen one like that before. "Excuse her. She's Annabelle, and quite a nosy little one." He commented a little too conspicuously to warn Annabelle that she couldn't just do that to everyone. Sometimes, horses weren't all they seemed to be.

Glancing at her own companion, he nodded towards the hybrid. It was an odd thing, furry but also feathery at the same time. Odd. "Who's that?" his voice was curious and cautious. Like the aforementioned statement, he still had no idea who he was dealing with. He could've wandered into some herd, and was dealing with a passive killer sent out to eliminate him. Herds were weird like that. "My name is Biru by the way." He ended, commenting his name off the wall like it meant nothing. He of all knew how important names actually were. In the game of politics, they were everything.
