"But mamma! I want to go explore!" Steel met steel and the young voiced added, "PLEASE!" for good measure. A heavy sigh told the boy he had won, but he knew it was best to act innocent until well out of her sight. Her vocals caused love to bubble in the young heart, "You can go," black ears pricked excitedly, "IF! If you eat first." Doing as he was required the colt dipped under the large boned mare. Suckling happily Alija smiled kindly down at her baby simply enjoying the fact he was hers and so healthy. Gazing back up at the sky her smile grew, it was a beautiful Bridsong day. Prefect for her baby to go enjoy the golden sands of their home.

Belly full the colt reached his more refined muzzle up towards her badger marked face. Pressing their faces gently together for a few brief seconds his small voice bubbles out again, "I love you mamma." His love was all she ever needed to heal any and all wounds, "I love you to sweetling." Drawing in her warm scent she spoke again, "Now go have fun, be safe and be back before night!" Playfully the mother bumped her muzzle against his rump as he scampered off.

Laughing happily the winged colt ran off bucking and jumping happily once he was out of his mother's steel blue gaze. Playful jumping was halted as a small scaly thing ran in front of him. Halting nostrils quivered, "What the hell are you?!" Lowering his muzzle curiously the little lizard flicked a long pink tongue out before fleeing. "Hey wait up!" Laughing the purple spoted black cantered off in hot pursuit. Laughing as the little thing led him away from the oasis he lost track of where he was. When the terrified little thing darted under a rock the colt sighed. "Please come back out!" After a few moments of nothing the colt looked around. "Where the hell am I?" Steel blue gaze scanned the area. Shrugging he pranced off enjoying the sand he kicked up before stopping to roll happily.

Scarecrow
It was becoming increasingly obvious that if he wanted peace, the beach was becoming the most frequented place ever. Spice had approached him last time, and now he watched quietly from the rocks as a purple winged came barreling towards the sand. He was young, like, really really young. It was no doubt that he had parents here somewhere. Glancing around, still stationed behind the rocks, he noticed no doting mother or father within view. Did they trust the Throat this much to let children go running amuck? Crinkling his nose, but ever intrigued, he got to his feet, shaking the sand from his growing body.

The boy was frolicking about, and suddenly he collapsed. Cerin blinked a few times, snorting in amusement as he was flinging sand everywhere. Hey, Cerin liked sand, but no where near that much. It was uncomfortable and rubbed the skin raw if you didn't cleanse yourself of it every so often. The scarecrow then bounded forward, hopping over the few seaside boulders that separated him from the sandy beach. A smile settled upon his face, as he rushed over, hoping to scare the foal from his seemingly uncaring attitude. Hey, Cerin hated socializing, usually, but scaring horses definitely had it's amusements.

Hoping the child had not run off, Cerin snorted to get his attention, raising his head ever so slightly to look down at him like a dominate sibling. The pale child was far from dominate, but sometimes it was nice to pretend that he had some power. The facade however only lasted a few moments before it melted back into his usual, hunched over, submissive appearance. Cerin after all would like to expand his friend list, even if that meant friending those much younger than him. That was when he realized...

Quickly he looked about for another sign of the colts parents. Would they come after him for attempting an innocent prank? Fear seized his eyes as he looked to the child as if to cry for help. He could only hope that in the shadows there was not a protective parent lurking.

The rapid thundering of hooves drew the boy's attention away from his rolling. Startled the purple speckled colt lurched awkwardly to his feet. A silvery lined older colt was rushing at him. Rearing he run towards him hoping to throw the attack off. What had he done to invoke this? Stopping about a foot away the silver eyed lad snorted his displeasure neck arched in aggravation. Then the other did something that just nudged him over the edge. As green eyes gazed down upon him Aakesh threw his head up as well. 'So he wants to play games huh?!' Squealing suddenly he half reared so he was towering over the silver guy. Landing back firmly on all fours he snorted before pawing unhappily.

The colt's posture changed and he moved backwards confused. Nostrils flared drawing his scent curious in his confusion. As green looked around nervously his own silver looked around confusion mounting. "What are you looking for? It's just us here." Turning back to the boy he looked closely at how he was standing. He seemed to sag under some invisible weight. Ears flicked nervously, this colt was older, and weird to say the least. Maybe it had all just been a game he didn't understand because of the age gap. Either way he hadn't liked it much. "What are you doing out here anyway?" Throwing out some extra words as an after thought. "My name is Aakesh by the way." His voice was still squeaky with youth, but determined to get his answer. Snorting again the colt backed up a little more unsure what this odd ball would do next.

Scarecrow

It seemed that the younger child was not as submissive as Cerin had originally thought. The little purple fellow followed suite and reared up, trying to tower of him. Cerin just narrowed his eyes, watching as the child slid back to the ground. Why would such a young one attempt scaring a nearly grown giant? Cerin just shrugged as Aakesh landed on the sand. This was going to be a problem if parents were around...

As if reading his mind the colt responded that they were the only ones here. A smile of relief ran across Cerin's face. He was undeniably relieved. At least he would survive another night here in this little Throat. The child, however, was visibly displeased at Scarecrow's little escapade. His flaring nostrils and wild eyes easily gave that away. Then, words began to fall from the colts mouth. Each one, with exception to the last, could not be answered at this moment. When he introduced himself, Cerin nodded. Realizing that yet again, one should call him Scarecrow. Dipping his head, he looped the pendant hidden beneath his chin over his muzzle. Lifting it gently, he held up the poppet for the young boy to see. That was what Cerin is. He is a scarecrow.

After a few moments, he let the doll fall back into place. It swung, landing with a quiet rustle against his pale skin. Cerin would no longer dote on that, instead, he wanted to play a little game. His green eyes searched to meet the colts, and with ears forward, he jumped around in a playful manner. He wanted to have some friendly neighborhood racing! Lining himself up next to the purple colt, he tried his hoof at showing the young one what he had intended. He galloped a few steps forward, stopping then and turning to look at Aaskesh. Would he want to play such trivial games? Or would he be too intrigued by Cerin's lack of voice, and instead pursue another route of engagement?

[Its fine! :3 I'm still getting used to Cerin, so don't worry about length, as I'm going to have some problems with that too. ^^]

Silver narrowed coping the green. What was up with this guy? Snorting again the purple speckled boy stilled his movements watching the silvery colt. It was only know he realized how much larger the other was. 'Maybe this was one of those times Mother was talking about.' Stepping back he watched green pools curiously now. Why hadn't he said anything? The silver head nodded once his name was given, but nothing was returned. Tilting his purple speckled head sideways he watched closely as the muzzle dipped drawing forth a necklace he had not noticed. "You can't talk can you?" Aakesh wasn't worried about that. What did it matter if he could talk or not? Maybe that was why he was so... odd. Moving forward again silver eyes gazed at the odd doll thing. "Would it be ok if I call you..." He paused thinking of a good name for his new possible friend, "Crow?" A friendly smile replaced the nervous wide eyes and flared nasals.

Looking away from the doll as he let it fall again, silver once more met searching green. His smile grew excitedly as Crow hopped around. Straightening his head again the younger pranced in place. He followed Crow curiously as he moved next to him then ran a head. "Ya! A race sounds awesome! Don't take it easy on me just because I'm short." Laughing joyously at the little joke he trotted to stand beside Crow. Lowering his dome down he braced before speaking again, "On three ok?" Looking to see if that was ok, he counted anyway. "One... Two..." Throwing himself into a canter the colt laughed again. "Three!" He was sure the other wouldn't mind if he took a seconds head start.

Sand flew from his heels as he raced away laughing. Unable to help himself the colt glanced back, making sure Crow wasn't to close, before throwing up his heels. Bucking for a few moments the colt turned back to running his eyes sparkling brightly. It felt great to have a friend, even if he couldn't talk. Sand flew out from under his hooves as he through his black and purple wings out flapping them wishing he could fly. If he could fly he would surely be able to beat Crow. One day he would have to find someone to help him fly. Unlike most he wanted to fly now not later when he was older, and bigger. Pulling his wings back in the direction he had come from, chasing the lizard.

Scarecrow

There was always that moment of "ah-ha!" when in the presence of anyone new. Everyone, rightfully so, took talking for granted. It was so abnormal to lack a voice, that it was more rare than the magic that he possessed. He had come across others with magic, but none with a voice. I guess that made Cerin a double minority right? At the sound of Aakesh's voice, Cerin bobbed his head heavily. He was right, not a sound would escape this guy. A few more moments passed by, and Cerin gazed at the purple boy who seemed so intent of his little pendant. A small, creeping smile creeped up onto his lips. It was faint, but still there nonetheless. Watching people come up with a name was always quite the experience. Normally he was Scarecrow, sometimes he was hay, two-legged, the list goes on and on. So when he was finally dubbed crow, a silent laugh escaped his body. His movements suggested something of laughter, but again, silence. Eventually though, his fit of laughter died down and he nodded. Crow was better than Scarecrow, and a little more memorable to.

So began Cerin and his flailing. The sand dipped over his hooves with each impact. Small explosions of it spread, scratching against his skin. It was a discomfort he had grown used to. Pausing for a moment, his head look at Aakesh with a look of amusement. Would he run? Would he let Cerin have a rare moment of fun? Suddenly Aakesh's voice erupts, and it's just the answer Cerin was waiting for. A large, toothy grin followed, as he lined up near Aakesh for the countdown.

One... Two.. Three!

And he was off. Aakesh wasted no time, lucky him, he got the countdown. See, that was the unfair part because Aakesh knew the exact moment of take-off. No worries though, Cerin had confidence he could catch up. If there was a single thing Cerin was good at, it was moving and running. He had been built strong, so he may as well put it to use when he can. Green eyes twinkled with delight as he picked up into a gallop. His hooves dug into the sand harshly. It was ripped from it's resting place and thrown behind him, his breathing was labored, but it was so worth it! Glancing over at Aakesh, Cerin's eyes narrowed. If he dare use his wings.. well then Cerin wins by default right? He would never cheat.. or would he?

Glancing forward the rocky part of the shore began to come into view. Cerin snorted, trying to grab Aakesh's attention. That would be their ending point. Even though Cerin loved running, the sand always took a toll on him. It was so hard to run in! Coiling his muscles, he unleashed another burst of strength, hoping to push himself up and away from Aakesh.
