KAHLUA The queen watched her flock gather, the number in some ways both less and more than she had imagined would show up. To each, as they arrived, the queen offered a personal smile and nod of her head. She was tired, and weary, and her wide belly pulled on her muscles, and every beat of her heart was also like being stabbed by a knife, but the herd looked to her and she could not let them down. Instead, for strength, she found herself looking to Thor. His wings were gone, an infection had stolen them long ago, but he kept his head high. If he could do it, so cold she. And she would. They all had ideas and suggestions, wonderful thoughts and queries- understandably so. She did her best to answer each and every one, though surely she may have missed one or two. “Sending messengers to the other herds is a good idea, Ilios. Archibald, what do you think?” Any mention of Kaj’s name was suspiciously absent. She trusted his judgment- she just didn’t trust herself to say his name without breaking into tears. “She said that she did this because we were becoming… too complacent. She said she was trying to prove a point- that we are too blinded by our need for power, and that we are weak. She did this as a game, to prove that she could still control us, and to and make us see how weak we are compared to the gods.” Even the Sunshower, usually so forgiving, could hear the bitterness in her words. “But she proved her point with death when she didn’t need to.” When someone mentioned the Seer, asking if Nasreen could speak the goddess, the queen frowned sadly. “I have not seen or heard from Nasreen recently. If anyone has seen her or knows her to be well… we need her now more than ever.” Since Eva had already answered Astraea’s questions, the queen declined to comment on that. “Thank you Res, for the herb lessons. Far, for wanting to protect us. Miykael, for offering to save us from our memories…” She couldn’t deny that the thought was tempting in many ways. “This is what it means to be a family, my friends. We are strong, even in the wake of this tragedy. We will survive.” OOC| No post order, obviously, after Archibald and Kaj get their posts up.
