Ever determined, ever stalwart, the lithe femme contorted and danced through the puzzles, mazes, and warrens of their given task: wondering where to go, who to see. Most of her Basin brethren seemed to have already gathered amongst the crowd, and she wouldn’t have to worry about advising too many more of them to go towards the vessel. So, she and Imogen led the way, occasionally tossing her head behind her, ensuring Roland was following her petal soft steps, slinking and sliding away from the Endless Blue (because she had no wish to dive back into horrific memories), venturing closer and closer down towards the Heavenly Fields. All along the way she paused towards the birds, the sky, the wildlife, pressing and pulsing her message in elegant song, in vigilant sonnets, hoping they’d listen and commit to the advice. “You must board a boat! It will save you from an incoming flood!” Then she’d start again, gesturing out into the open plain and looking across the horizon for more inhabitants who didn’t know, who had to obey, or be left amidst an incoming sea; angel in the clover and bulrushes. Save yourselves, she yearned to whisper, prevailing across the ocean of grass.

Even after the herd had been warned, there seemed little reason to return right back to the meadow. Theirs was not the only family inhabiting Helovia, and there was no telling who would carry the God of the Earth’s message or how far. Together they slipped towards the north, climbing thermals skilfully until the heavily field spread out before them. The lush grasses stretched almost as far as her eye could see, and Africa’s careful pinning pupils surveyed the area rapidly.

There were Unicorns lingering, calling the same warning through the cool, thin air, and Africa placed herself at a comfortable distance from them until she was certain there was no threat – it seemed highly likely that they hailed from the Basin nearby...

The parrot centred her focus and began the transformation into Pegasus form. She had not the confidence to approach them before Midas, and waited only long enough to move by his flank. A courteous smile ensued. “You’ve heard the Earth’s message then...” she mentioned quietly – the bay, Lena, Africa recognised from the caves when wraiths stalked the world.

With little reason to delay, Africa shrank back into bird-form and nestled her small frame a comfortable distance from the bodies of Fina (more importantly) and Neve. Silas sailed down the mountainside to discover their next destination.

ROLAND
Much to Roland's relief, the air began to cool as they climbed the meandering path to the Heavenly Fields. Lena called out as they passed beneath low hanging branches and skirted the expanse of meadow that sprawled across the cliffs, her warnings echoing to its very edge. They wound their way through the forest, alerting any bird, any squirrel or stag that they passed of the dangers ahead. Sunlight spilled over the eves, painting a shifting shadow across the Thief's golden hide as he ducked beneath the verdant boughs. He followed closely behind Lena, keeping in step with her but remaining silent. His keen gaze searched the darkness, the trenches and gulleys, the alcoves and hollowed out shells of fallen trees; anywhere that might have been home to some creature. He would hate to think of what might become of any that missed their admonitions, and was left behind when the rain came to cleanse their kingdoms.

As they broke out into the open, a wash of golden light sweeping across the grass and a warm breeze tugging through Roland's mane, his gaze fell upon an approaching pair. The Thief's mouth had already fallen open, prepared to warn them of what lingered on the horizon before the dappled mare beat him to it. "We have," he confirmed with a courteous nod, eyeing up their peculiar entourage. Without wasting any more time, he dipped his head again in their direction and turned to continue after Lena, intent upon finding any more they could before it was too late.

A moments rest is all that's allowed. I catch a few hours of stone-like sleep, before we sail off to another portion of Helovia. One of my favorite places to come for meditation and prayer. Gliding to the ground, our eyes take notice of a Basin lass and her dusty colored comrade. Yon woman is familiar to me, I'd come to know her as Lena...A soft spoken northerner. (Who'd been kind enough to forgive the slights of an ignorant fool.) Africa returns to her -normal- self; a gentle and encouraging smile lures us forward. She lingers at the rear, standing close to my thigh.

Likely pressed with memories of a time when those Northern scents came as a wash of agony and terror.

Without drawing attention, I comfortably lean her way; using the only measure of aid currently honed...offering a solid presence of physical comfort, protection. Gaze drifts to the bay passively, wearily. They already knew, yar, word sure did travel quickly... "We will fly the far corner of yon mountain and send others who might be unaware to," I looked South and smile loosely, "the ship ."

They turn from us with tight smiles and few words. Drifting off to spread the word. My attention otherwise occupied it wasn't at first noticed that a certain grey lady had fled the scene. I glanced back to find Africa gone, her lithe frame among the sparse timber with our companions. A beckoning gesture with angled crown would hopefully return the lass...

The aim was not to abandon at all. Africa took rest in the rambling, barky embrace of a large northern pine and waited with a thundering heart for the Czar to follow suit – he did not though. Pale eyes watched and the pupils within pinned, noting that he would have her return to the field. Cautiously the parrot scanned for the other pair, the Unicorns, but it seemed they had slipped away.

A larger sigh than anticipated breezed by hardened nares.

It was not that she was particularly opposed to the company of the horned, antlered and alike – in fact, there were many among their kind who she found favourable friendship with. But alas the wound’s left in wake of their pitiless hospitality ran still deeper than face value and though she made always a conscious effort to forgive, the scars let her never forget.

With a thundering heart Africa returned from her cover, and focused her energy to shift back into Pegasus form. Her shadowy companion trailed, spreading his own wings in readiness as the pattern of her thoughts clouded both of their minds, and he slowed the time around them so that the magic within her might appear instantly to change her; the painted man might be spared the horror of her contortion on this occasion.

Moments later the dappled figure of a one-winged mare stood before him, and the zephyr came to perch with a careful clasp upon her rump.

In all honesty she cared not to talk about the pair now vanished. “Will we continue up here?” humble tones queried and soft golden eyes searching his cool, unruffled eyes. A hot wind stirred the billowy flames along her crest into a flickering frenzy.
