Illusion is needed to hide the emptiness within.

The sun slowly settled down for the night, painting everything it touched in gold. The grove seemed like a fairy tale, the sun reflecting on the water, and willow trees seemed to hide spots away, only letting rays of light slip through their long fingers that caressed the ground ever so gently.

A grey figure wandered to the water slowly, not minding the world around her much. Every now and then an ear would flick to catch sounds. Her icy blue eyes scanned the ground carefully as she remained hidden, slipping behind a new bush or tree each time she left the last. But at last she reached the water, and she soundlessly slipped into the water, escaping the uncomfortable heat of summer.

The days were growing long, and it was hard to find a dark little place to seek the comfort of sleep in. During the day it was unbearable hot, and she spent her time curled under trees here in the grove, seeking shade. The days were hardly lonely though, her company was her endless thoughts and wonderings. And every night, as the sun left this world, she slipped out to swim for a while. She was a graceful and silent creature, accustomed to her own company.

Figures of her imagination slipped in and out of the shadows. She smirked; paranoia. The last slips of light lingered on her pale coat as she finally left the water. She stood next to the lake, her long mane and tail soaking wet. Her dished head turned to the water, ears pricked, as she watched the daylight finally die away.

Notes; Sorry this took a while! :)
