 The war will be fought against unicorns. The general's words repeated in Leander's mind. His muscles were wound, body ready to spring into action as he glided to the cool ground of the Edge. The Orangemoon air was heavy with the distinct scent of horned equines. The crescent scar on one gold haunch throbbed, remembering it's birth. But that was in the past and had little to do with this battle. With a controlled step, Leander marched towards the front of the allied group. Most were strangers to him prior, but on this day they would become comrades that he would risk his life for. Nobly, the dark mistress addressed the Unicorn herd. A weak smile curled his lips, not believing that the residents would give up without a fight. The thrill of a brawl was invigorating, yet the tawny stallion was strangely uneasy. What would happen to the foals who lived here, to the innocents who wanted nothing to do with warfare? The dark matriarch who had spoken began to seem more sinister to him, and less diplomatic. Silenty, he vowed to abide by his own morals in this battle, no matter what the others did. He would fight cleanly. The palomino approached the head of the group and halted. Dark umber wings stretched to their full, imposing height. His cold bronze gaze locked, searching for the sight of enemies in the distance. (Word Count: 232) |
