An outburst rocks the golden’s quietly flowing, pride soothed, mind. He inhales sharply like a hiss and head turns back to her. But the face she finds looking to her is the same, smiling and cunning. He knew a great more about this little blue bird than she could possibly imagine. He had seen her fiery temper in the Throat, standing, boldly before Gaucho without a flinch of opinion. Not exactly an easy feat. She had called out for justice, and received it. It was an image of her that had impressed the golden son. However, that answer would not satisfy, mostly because it would reveal what was, still largely a well-kept secret. So another time would need to be searched for and the gold wasted little time. “The days before the flood…you collected animals near me.” It wasn’t a total lie. The gold had been so pleased with himself for collecting a fine alligator specimen that day. He chuckles lightly. “Your…spirit I could not ignore.” He continues that proud grin of a Cheshire cat, ever so pleased with himself.

Still it didn’t seem to please her much and the gold looked for a distraction as this was obviously not going to go as smoothly as he hoped. He found it in seeing Haldir. The fawn stood where he had been passed, still looking with a cocked head at the two. Seeing the gold meet his eyes, he then turned away and settled back down in the grass, his weariness getting the better of him again. The gold’s distraction gone he turns back, but the mare had changed, much to his relief. He noted the calmer, but still charged tone. Harks lifted up fully, because for the first time in this conversation a notion that she might want something began to leak into his mind. One hark leans back. It was not in his nature to be used. Not in his nature to be commanded, commandeered, or recruited. But, who said those trying to use him had to know that.

The mind under those crowned horns swirled ever so tightly, trying to wrap themselves around whatever object of an proposition this mare was putting forth. Help others? Now that was most certainly not in his usual to do it. However, her tone, her sudden change, and even the slight lowering of her voice signaled something much more than helping grandma cross the stampede lane. Golden head cocks. She had a secret. Not just a, Johnny stole and apple, oh no, this was a big secret. Nerves began to tingle up and down his spine, and tasseled tail began to twitch at his hocks. Then she paused. Waiting. A side of his lip curls. She wanted some sign perhaps. For that the gold was all too happy to oblige.

Twin horns nod once more with that grin curling into a smirk. A long slow exhale rattles through his body and gears begin to turn within. Golden coat fades and darkens, horns join as one, and move to the center. Vanillas tassels, as if dipped in dye ran up red, and tasseled tail filled out once more to be full and beautiful. Then at last, with a tuck of his head and nod red wings, spotted with light like stardust burst from is sides. Destry opened her eyes and smiled back at the blue bird. “I can be anyone I’ve been close enough to steal from.” The golden wanted in on this blue bird’s secrets now, so information came forth more voluntarily. As Destry tucked her wings the golden continued. “However, once used they pass from my grasp until I can find them again.” There the dark mare stopped, and turned, having to watch each wing tuck itself in neatly. Mare were always more uncomfortable for the golden. Just because he didn’t show a vivaciousness for a good romp didn’t mean he liked being without a thing or two in this state.

Looking back to the blue bird as she speaks the dark crowned mare cocks her, listening with ever intent red eyes, the grin ever widening. Honestly she could not be giving him more than if he asked for it. A secret cause, and a lesson, well that was the best deal he heard all day. But there was just one little hang up. A feminine voice speaks out. “Just a moment blue bird. What cause is this?” Voice leered though, and the dark hybrid takes a step forward. It make look and sound like Destry, but inside was still the golden, cunning and bold. Just what little secret organization did this mare have up her sleeve. What new things could the gold learn today, that he could expose tomorrow?
