He accepted her immediately, strong neck curling around her shoulders and blanketing her in his own speckled warmth. It was comforting in its own way, he didn't need to whisper soothing words into her ears, didn't need to tenderly stroke her cheek and lull her into a sense of security. He just had to be there, and that's what he was doing. As easily as he had taken her, he had easily let her go, letting her be free of his grasp and simply watched with his smoldering eyes as she concluded her tragic tale. He hadn't moved when she had studied him, only kept his gaze firmly on her as she bid her time and took all of him, as he was, in.

He took his time answering, and Myrrine remained ever patient in her waiting, looking at him with those expectant eyes, that kind smile never once wavering. Indeed she was the girl who so easily wore her heart on her sleeve, that smiled that anyone and anything that gave her reason to; but was she the blessed or cursed on in this equation? Had she asked because she truly did want to learn how he did it, so that she too could master the art of masking her soul behind thick walls? What made that one trait about him the first thing that came to her mind? Maybe she would never know, or perhaps it would be the first thing she would realize the more she interacted with the spotted brute. She couldn't help but feel a comfort even just in the fact that they had the same markings. Though they were not identical, many could have easily assumed that she were the result of him and a beautiful winged mare; that she was another child of this so-called wicked man before her.

She didn't know if she liked the thought of that or not. Fathers were something every child had, whether they had seen them or not, but would it be good for her to seek such a role in him? Would he even want to take on the role? She easily could have kept him this long simply because he pitied her, who she was and how she came about here; and not because he actually had enjoyed at least some of her company. Maybe she was nothing but another sad project that he felt the need to right again, and not a lonely girl who was just in need of a friend. Someone who could look past her sad life and see that she really was trying to live again, trying to gather up her shattered soul and put it back together piece by piece. Perhaps she was stupid for hoping for something like that after all.

"Armor"

The quiet response jolted her from her musings and caused her to watch him again, how he so easily turned himself to look out into the ocean and fall silent once again. He was a man of few words, something she would never be, and she didn't know if that would help or hinder her in the long run. With her early thinkings cast aside for the moment she walked to his side, joining him in gazing out as far as the eye could see. Wings upon her back fluttered delicately, pulsing with her heartbeat as she let his simplistic answer sink in. Except it wasn't all that simple was it? Armor was meant to protect, to shield others from pain that was unneeded. What did he need protection from? What had driven him into his fortress of walls and led him to eagerly lock the doors and throw away the key? Everyone had their monsters they had to battle, ones that always came around eventually for them to finally face. Had he found his monster yet?

It made her wonder what hers was. Breaking away from the view she turned to look at him again, calmly, silently to simply take in him once again and what he was. Even though she had been doing nothing but studying him and trying to delve into the inner workings of his mind, she found that she had only turned up empty-handed, and maybe that was for the better. Still, she liked him. He was a calming force that drew her in and lulled her, made her feel that there was no need to keep up with the rush of this planet when all she needed to do was take it slow; to let her mind take in things at a leisurely pace. He had become the calm to the constant storm in her mind, the one whirling in her mind filled with worry and regret. She always seemed to be worrying about others. Cerin, Vincent, and now him. The man without a name.

"I'm sorry for not asking earlier, but might I have the honor of knowing your name?" she breathed at last, her tone being swallowed up as soon as it was released by the gentle sound of the waves lapping the shore. She had breezed over his answer rather swiftly, not really addressing it or acknowledging it, but she was sure he probably didn't mind either. She didn't have much to say about it, as she knew nothing about protecting herself from anything but her own inner demons. Those seemed to be held at bay by the comfort of those that took the time to speak with her for more than a few minutes. She would cherish them, even if they didn't reciprocate the feelings, and they would always hold a special place in her heart. He had been added to the list tonight.
