I swore there was something in there. If I moved my head a little either side, there was this…light, no, more like a reflection of something in there, something that could’ve been polished at some point, but it clearly wasn’t ice. I narrowed my eyes, my vision focusing intently on the gleam hidden in the pale blue folds of the glacier; if I looked hard enough, I could just discern a—a shape of…of something— *”HEY!!”* FUCK ME RUNNING. I almost leapt out of the snow I was so terrified; my body CRACKLED in and out of existence in the blink of an eye, as though I were teleporting but I hadn’t traveled anywhere. Instead, after I materialized, I sort of launched myself headfirst and body first into the glacier—or I guess I should say at the glacier, because in a battle of mass and density the glacier was clearly kicking my ass. “My--shit,” I said weakly, once my heart slowed a little bit and the world stopped ending, “Holy crap.” I was panting from where I was against the glacier wall, my chest still thumping and my head pounding from where I had bust it against the ice. Owwwwwshit, but it was probably gonna hurt later. “Fuck, man!” I said in angerxasperation as I finally looked behind myself to see who had scared the ever-living hell out of me “Tryin’ to kill me or what? UGH.” Turns out, it wasn’t a man—face was too pretty and exquisite for anyone with a sack. My eyes fell first on the wings that flapped on either side of their head—a sight that would’ve put a giggle in my throat if my head weren’t pounding so hard—before looking to the red-brown stripes that adorned their back, a coloring I’d never seen before, and that put a little interest in the back of my head (the part that wasn’t threatening a headache, at any rate). I sigh-growled and tried to shake most of the stars out of my eyes; my annoyance with someone else intruding on my peace was shattered and paled by the powerful curiosity I was feeling about the Thing In The Glacier. “…Hey, c’mere a sec,” I said roughly to the lady with Headwings. I figured another set of eyes that hadn’t been set on fire once would be a pretty accurate backup. “You see anything in there?” I threw my head toward the glacier in gesture, indicating the greyish mass I swore I was seeing in there.
