"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Gaius the only person who ever doubts your powers is you
Sweat trickled down between the bulk's eyes, causing his baby blues to flutter closed for mere seconds before focusing once again on his path of travel. With his obnoxiously large hooves and bold, rippling body, making way through a thickly shrouded forest proved to be more of a competition than a refreshing gander. A sign emitted from the stallion's mottled lips, adding to the heat of the daytime by a small, insignificant amount. Gaius trekked through thick and thin tress, fumbling over stumps and rocks protruding from the unsmooth forest floor.
"Oh, for God's sake..." he muttered, his slightly British accent filling otherwise still, but incredibly humid, air. A few steps later, the blue roan appy tripped into a more spacious area of the woods, with trees more appropriately spaced for his wide chest and hips. A smile twinged on his multicolored kissers with the pleasure of a less-exhausting journey. How could the weather have been so mild-tempered a few hours back, but hit like a damned rain of fire so suddenly? The aged stallion shook his head, short, black tresses falling on both sides of his thick neck. Who could possibly explain such a phenomenon? Could it be the altitude? Thinking back, Gaius couldn't remember climbing a slope, but it very well could have been a very gradual one. Shrugging, he decided to ponder the mysteries of Nature at a later time. Now, he simply had to find his way to a source of water.

It felt strange to return to the threshold of her new reality so soon. Those who wandered here were supposed to be emissaries for this place. They were supposed to have all the answers. Cheska was woefully without most of those answers. If she met a new face, how could she explain her weeks in this place? You see... dragons are real. Also... gods. And sometimes they flood this place for absolutely no reason. Does it happen often? I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. Perhaps she'd get lucky and be able to traverse her path without having to accost some lost soul. It wasn't as if there was another way. From the depths of the forest, this was the necessary path toward her next goal.
The World's Edge didn't sound terribly welcoming, but she had no reason otherwise to believe it was less hospitable than any other place. Of course, she'd be carefully watching her tongue there. She imagined being pushed off the edge of the earth was hardly a pleasant way to go if someone found her a bit too mouthy. It would certainly not be the first time.
There was familiarity to the place, but also something entirely new. It must have sprung up while she wasn't paying attention. It was as if the transformation from stranger to inhabitant had made the trees a little less imposing and the smells a little more fragrant. This time Cheska kept to the shadows, where the sun couldn't turn her dark coat to burning coals. This time she remembered to forage the fresh leaves from the branches best protected from the elements. This time when she stumbled into the path of a stranger, she managed not to stare like a fool for more than a long moment.
"Afternoon," she greeted gently, small ears flopping to and fro cheerfully. By all the gods, she wasn't a savage. Not as though she was going to ignore him. "I do hate to presume, big fella, but it looks like you could maybe use some directions?" She flashed him an understanding smile. She had an intimate relationship with this kind of confusion. "Where're you headed?"
Gaius the only person who ever doubts your powers is you
It took a few moments to realize that he was no longer in his lonesome company. The fragrance of a stranger, entirely feminine at that, filled his nares to the brim. Gaius's mottled face casually looked for the shadow of another being, though cold only identify where when a sweet mare's voice attracted his attention. He smiled a delightful, slightly embarrassed smile, nodding in respect to the red-toned femme. He took notice of her position beneath the foliage, as if she were shielding herself from the harsh assault of the sun. Gaius understood and moved closer, eliminating any peeks of sunshine between their two shadows, creating a larger range of coolness from his height, though she was tall herself. Her voice matched her kind expression, making Gaius almost giddy with the attention. It wasn't often someone of his age and stature was given this amount of kindness.
"Actually, I would very much appreciate some directions. Perhaps you know where I could find a source of water?" His voice matched his appearance only in depth, for his tone was light and comforting. He flashed another smile at the kind bay roan and looked around, seeing no break to the wall of bark and green canopies. Maybe this was the entire setting of the land? He had hard the name of this place and some explanation of it's terrain a while back on his journey but he couldn't remember... what was it? The stallion shrugged mentally and returned his attention back to the dame. She was rather leggy, with slight feathering. Altogether a beautiful sight for any man, but her grace radiated like hardly any other, her spirited aura glowing like the sunshine itself. The green if her irises reminded him of the grass in morning light, soft and deep all at the same time. Before he realized it, Gaius blushed at the model before him. He secretly hoped she would answer his question so that he could no longer continue to make a fool of himself.

She didn't flinch at his approach, but something dark came twisting around her heart like a snake. She wondered briefly if she should have summoned one of her more imposing shadow companions for this particular trek. Not that it would do much good, but he didn't have to know that. She'd practiced her craft more than a few times since its discovery. At the very least, a massive shadow bear summoned from nothing could scare away a few interloping squirrels. It could work on an overly friendly stallion or two, if- Settle down there, sugar.
Cheska bit down the rest, nerves flaring at the old impulse. She'd thought those wounds had healed with time, but apparently not. She was only glad for the brainless impassive smile still affixed to her face like a mask for all of the half second the thought process took. Oh, you're such a charmer. Suspectin the worst before you've even got a name. Aren't you sweet? With the next uninterrupted exhale, her misplaced distrust crawled back into the darker corners of her heart and once again, she could see him for what he was. Nothing but a traveler, not unlike herself, and in need of help. When had she ever been able to turn down another in need?
"Now that I can help you with," she agreed gently. She could almost remember where the stream cut through here, but she had more than a few tricks up her sleeve. She scanned the horizon until she could see the hawks circling. Predators were wonderfully predictable that way. There was no prey that could survive without water. She gestured toward the raptors. "Follow me, 's too hot to being goin without water." Utterly oblivious to any undue attention, she took off at a slow amble. She didn't move a whole lot faster these days. She had too much heft to be dragging around in the middle of summer. Truly you are a goddess among equine.
Her tail, long and thick, swatted away a few stray flies. Ensuring the path ahead was clear, she turned her head toward him. "You've found yourself in Helovia," she explained. She still didn't like how her accent seemed to trip over its name. Something about that L. "And I suppose I've found you. 'M Cheska. Lady of the forest. Queen of absolutely nothin. Adventurer and explorer." She chuckled. Oh, but the storyteller still had her flair for the dramatic.
