The way the sun seemed to beat down on her golden coat, drove a huge sigh from the mare. Her teal eyes danced around this place with a slight amount of curiosity and suspicion. She wasn't sure what had happened, but she knew for a fact that things were different now. Her already battered memory seemed to be even worse, but that didn't seem to bother her much. She always tried her best hiding the past and forgetting nearly all of it seemed to be better for her in the long run. Her steps grew slightly more confident with every stride until the mare was in a trot, feeling the warmth swallow her whole while the wind danced through her mane and chain with what seemed to be a bright and unique story to tell.

Rexanna still was unsure what to think of this place. It seemed so mysterious yet inviting. This concept was an interesting one for her. She had been used to the inviting atmosphere but it always left her with a feeling of deceit, it resembled her in many ways. For a moment there, she began to think over her ways with others. She didn't delve deep within it before a bird chirp caught her attention. It was at this point that she realized how quiet this place seemed to be. That single bird chirp seemed to ignite a fire of other's and soon she felt small and surrounded by this noise. Quickly, she turned to her left and slipped out of the bubble of sound before it seemed to be quiet once more. 'Finally.' She thought to herself before gazing around at the scenery once more.

❈ when you go home everything looks different ❈

One limb in front of the other. The trek back toward the threshold had become almost monotonous. Aye, it was simple in many ways, but grueling in others. Her bodice clung to the feeling of movement, of exercising each and every one of her muscles. Yet, her mind was aching for the memory of flying. How the wind felt as it wrapped around her tendrils and pleaded for her to dance along with it. How the wind seemed to buffer her wings, glaze across her feathers.

No, that feeling was gone - but she longed for it once more. So, on occasion, as she galloped across open spaces, she allowed her wings to snap out - to feel the wind caress her appendages. It was only when she was midway into the threshold that she finally stopped trying to find those open places. Instead, her wings stayed ruffled up against her barrel as she began to start looking for possible recruits. Aye, Midas and Africa had found her here… had offered her a home, it was only fair that she return the favor of this home from the two lovebirds (now very much so love birds, though she only used the term in the fact that the pair were both lovely to be around) by increasing the breadth and reach of the members.

Ardere didn't really seem to care, or understand, what the purpose of this trek was. But, who could blame the young one? She was still but a small dolphin that bore the marks of Pompeii upon her flesh. All that Ardere desired was to explore the world - and so as the two continued to move forward, she was the first to stumble across another equine-like creature. There was a swell of joy that flooded the bond before Ardere began to swim around the unicorn, with ample distance between the leviathan and the horned creature. Confused, and trying to keep up with Ardere, Laedere pulled from the line of trees to see the mare encased in a layer of gold. No wings dawned upon her frame, but instead a singular horn that protruded from her skull.

"Aye, Ardere - come hither!" Laedere begged in her mind, only to have Ardere float back over to Laedere's side, hovering near Laedere's missing patch of feathers. "Salutations. How are ye on thine fine morn?" Laedere inquired, carefully dropping her nose in a respectful, welcoming gesture. Nay, she could not be sure that this mare was actually new to Helovia, in all of its grandeur, but she still did wish to offer them assistance should it be required. Tis was only fair after the welcoming she had received during her appearance.

How he found himself ere once more the golden did not want to guess. His cloven hooves were carrying him all kinds of places lately as his minds wandered through hill and vales, and round mountains and rivers. There was so much to consider now a days with plans now extending across all of Helvoia’s extent. The golden after all was a busy man.

So why he was wasting a moment or two in this pine forest surprised even him once Haldir nosed him, stopping him just in time before he stepped witlessly into a stream. Snorting the twin horned shook his head harshly, and the white eyes of Haldir flared to see the sudden anger. They only waned to see the head of the golden turn away, and knowing the anger was not to him. Haldir had taken this journey with glad feet, as it seemed he had been left out of many lately, but this strange mood of the gold was more than he bargained for.

Turning aside the gold went back into the forest, his mind beginning again, but is wits more about him. So when a voice, sharp but clear cuts across the relative silence the golden hark is quick to find it. Head rises and earth eyes see barely through the brush colors not found on tree bark. Haldir’s small dark tail did begin to swing as the possibility of ridding himself of this dull march presented itself. With a bright face he see the gold turn to the voice and he trots most happily beside, (for rarely now did he walk behind). They come through the brush between the two creatures as the winged mare finishes.

The spanish man is well used to this charade, and he curls himself ever so slightly, but leaves his head higher and held in regality that he thought befit the circlet, his precious, a top his head. In all it was a most striking image, a crowned gold bearing a shimmering glowing cloak of gold. Many new wears does he also sport, for hidden under his light cloak, glowing in the sunlight was his satchel and various arms, and around his foreleg was a silver band swirling like the winds of autumn. His looks were not the only weapons he had to steal that which he wanted.

A gentle smile plays on his lips, it was a well-rehearsed play. “Indeed, greetings.” Turning to the winged bird the gold nods. It caught his eye then, that most strange creature. Earth eyes lifted to it, but in a veiled thought. It was like a fish, but swan through the air. Most curious a pet. The gold though turns away though, never did he like pets. Unfortunately Haldir did not have such a will, and the gold had long given up trying to instill it in him. The growing fawn looked at all to be seen, and he marveled at the pretty gold for she was so strikingly like his bonded. That alone was not enough to keep him though. Not when there was the hâl [fish]. For that was all he knew to call it. Tail wagged all the more and his attention was fully set on the thing as he watched it swim about the air like a leaf. The golden, noting his bonded’s attention did his best to ignore it. Looking on the horned maiden and noting her mood he was quick to know she was not of this land. For her eyes did wonder about, harks were never still, and body lined with a traveller’s wear. “Welcome to Helovia.”

It didn't take long before the sun began to feel like fire raining down on her coat. The mare exhaled a heavy breath before continuing a few steps. A couple of twigs cracking under her weight as she travelled. She wasn't trying to be quiet, but she wasn't sure if she wanted her presence known. These woods seemed like they would be a decent place, but one could never be so sure. It just happened to be that things could be quite decieving. Her eyes danced across the line of the trees with curiosity as she saw birds fly in and out, appearing to be at play. A gentle smile rose across her face at the sight of more birds flying out to chase them. 'What stupid little creatures.' She thought to herself before a winged silhouette grabbed her attention in the woods opposite of her. She had seen others with wings before, but there was something different about this one. Upon her getting closer, Rexanna's eyes travelled to a patch of missing feathers. She wasn't quite sure what to think until she saw the creature with the equine that seemed to swim through the air.

"Well that's... strange." She muttered to herself, shifting her weight. She listened as the winged one began talking and assumed that this was a mare. Her accent was something Rex had never heard of before. It seemed... Interesting yet oddly charming in a way. The equine then offered a bow which caused Rex to then begin thinking to herself as to what the response should be. Was it something she wanted to be nice for? Or was it just a lure to drag her in. Her trust was minimal and this winged creation with the missing patch of feathers wasn't going to be the downfall of her. Her mind danced around the idea that her death would not be caused from a strange place and a defective pegasus. Either way, she offered the mare a quick bow before continuing to think of what to say.

When she finally grasped the idea of how to reply, another beast stole her attention. She had a feeling from the way this golden creature carried themself that they must have been a male. Her assumptions rang true when she listened as he spoke. Her eyes quickly danced across him taking in all of his accessories in a bit of curiosity. Her ear flickered back and forth at the sound of the birds dancing in the background and the four creatures in front of her. This golden creature also had a friend. 'What is this place?' Her thinking was quickly answered by the golden one as it almost appeared as though he read her mind. Helovia. That had an interesting ring to it. However, how she got here, this golden mare had no idea. Her curiosity got the best of her, and he began to feel uncomfortable from being outnumbered in a new scene where she had no idea how to attempt to get out.

Her eyes drifted back over to the winged creature as she shifted her weight. "Goodmorning." She spoke, drifing her lenses to the golden beast and back to the pegasus. "I suppose I'm doing alright. You said this was Helovia?" Her eyes travelled back to the gold beast, her eyes flickering back and forth. "I've never heard of such a place." Her voice was gentle and calm. Rex had decided it would be best had she shown her outter shell and been the nice gentle mare that many knew her by. "I am also unsure as to how I arrived.. I'm sure that is another story though. You both seem to know your way around these parts. I'm honestly feeling quite lost." She said emitting a gentle laugh before the mare shook her dual-colored mane out and swished her tail, the sun glinting off of the charms the male wore and seemed to shadow more on the mare.

"SPEAK!" 'THOUGHTS!'

There had been no sound, no warning. There - suddenly - was a voice. Aye, this was not natural. In fact, it was far more unnatural than her own floating, aquatic companion. This golden unicorn with this deer companion was not normal. Her skin seemed to prickle, eyes flickering uncertainly between the two gold horned creatures. Unicorns were supposed to be in tales, yet they were coming in abundance upon these lands of Helovia. Swallowing what little was left of this anxiety, she tried to push past the strange looks in all of their eyes and instead stood taller.

She had received a duck of the head from both other creatures, somewhat respectable at least. Aye, the mare said that she was feeling lost, though, and was uncertain how she had stumbled across Helovia in the first place. ""Aye, twas mine initial receptivity upon infiltrating Helovia," Laedere tried to reassure as Ardere began to float around - moving her way closer to this deer creature (but not too close, lest she bother the pair). "What might ye be seeking? A dwelling, nourishment, distinct vestige?" A simple inquiry. Aye, she would not ask for names, not yet, when both seemed to mythical in nature for her to feel at ease in order to have her own name floating around in the mists.

No, not yet. And, Ardere seemed to agree. Laedere could only guess that Ardere was also trying to figure out just how it was that this stag had appeared with absolutely no noise, no warning. Nope. Something just wasn't right. Was. Not. Right.

Those earth eyes ever watching note the shifting glances and side sneaks. He can’t help but enjoy them a bit. After all they were mares, and he a stallion. Still it did not do much to engage him more. A hind hoof cocked and tasseled tail swings quietly by his hocks as he waits for this slow conversation to get going. Haldir was of course more interesting to watch. The babe, growing in boldness at the gaze of the hal [fish] moved around to see it fully, and lifted his nose. And while the fawn curiosity was wearing at the gold’s tolerance for appearing pleasant, he held out. Only moving to nod at the horned mare’s question. For such a lovely entrance it sure was being wasted.
The golden still stands quietly by as the mare seems almost shy and gentle. The gold was doubting now her quality matched the cold rock hills of the north. Though sweet thing [Lena] seemed to thrive there, not many other gentle souls made it to the north. So the possibility of enticing one this day, with another present seemed like a waste. He could not know the inner workings of that gentle mare. If he had the golden’s effort would have been much greater to ensnare her, for certainly there was a skill in such an illusion. His mind though was too far off in wandering to probe very deeply in what he believed was plain before him.

Following up on the pale bird’s curious tongue the gold joins in. “There are four such places in Helovia.” Right let’s get this show on the road. Haldir at hearing the golden’s name looks back, but still tries to get the floating hal to play, with a big grin and jumping little body. “Thranduil, at your service. I hail from the Aurora Basin.” Blah blah Blah. “It is a refined stronghold in the north. A keep of strength, life, and family.” And thieves, warriors, with a few crazies sprinkled in between. The golden though really could care less. His eyes and body was still engaged in the conversation, but looking deep in those earth eyes you might already find they’re miles away. Still, as he saw the awn jumping to the side his patcience for that little one wore out. “Haldir, deri, tolo si[stop, come here].” The fawn turns his head, but shows no reaction to the words, which while spoken softly and gently, were harsh. He had heard them too much to care much for them. Still he gives the hal one last look and turns back to the golden. Standing by the gold’s side he entertains himself by watching the creature from a far.

There was an odd feeling coming from this male. Her eyes drifted between him and the winged mare until it fell on the creature that accompanied the male. She wasn't sure how she felt about the male. She knew from what she saw of the tension from the winged one that she appeared to be a pure soul. The mystery of the male appeared to make the air uncomfortable and she was unsure quite what to say. Finally, the winged mare broke the silence that drifted from Rexanna's own questions. The way this one talked still was interesting to her, but she didn't seem to question it; however, Rexanna felt a bit more at ease as the mare reassured her of her entrance to this strange new place. Her next question was interesting to her. Rexanna was interested in finding a place to call her own, yet she was slightly uncomfortable with the idea that these equines just accepted anyone into their dwellings.

Her thoughts became interrupted with the strong voice of the golden. Her eyes quickly shifted from blankly staring at the aquatic creature swimming through the air to watching as the horned creature spoke. Listening, her ears twitched back and forth finding out about the four places. Thranduil. That's quite the interesting name." She said, offering him a coy smile. She was curious to find out about the Aurora Basin. It's name appeared to be quite interesting, and yet with the looks from the winged mare, Rexanna began to wonder where this one hailed from. Thoughts were again interrupted as he continued to speak about the Basin. The words family seemed to echo back into her mind as she adjusted her gaze to the creature next to the golden.

"Ah, Family. I'm not too sure if I would enjoy a place revolved around family." She openly admitted. It wasn't like she disliked family settings, they just weren't entirely what she longed for. She wasn't interested in being surrounded by youngsters due to the past. After Rexanna had grown out of the filly stage of life, she was often the one that had to take care of the young ones. It was her duty back in her old herd to keep an eye on them. She was decent at it, but it never kept her attention. Especially when the siege happened and that stunning stag lured her away. The thought of the male sent a slight shiver down her spine of delight, then frustration. Her muscled tensed lightly before her attention reverted back to the two that stood before her.

"Ah, my name is Rexanna." She spoke with a gentle smile, pretending as though nothing had happened just now. "Where do you reside?" Her attention switched to the winged one with curiousity. It was at this point that she realized the name of this one had not been known. Rexanna was curious of just a few things. She wanted to know the mares name, for the sake of at least knowing a couple beings here, and what the other lands were based around. The Basin, however nice Thranduil made it seem, didn't seem like it was the spot for her. However, she wanted to know where the winged one came from and what other lands might appear to be more appealing.

❈ when you go home everything looks different ❈
The little doe-creature was most certainly interested in Ardere. Though, Laedere seemed to doubt that it was for the same reasons the pair of them were. For, really, all that Laedere wanted to know was how on earth this golden unicorn had managed to enter their area without making so much as a noise.

Carefully, she flickers her audits to the sound of his voice, gathering his name as he says where he is from and explains their little herd (or well, little because it was little compared to the vast amount of land which was spread across Heolvia). Aye, she bobs her head ever so delicately in response to him, in her head asking that Ardere return to her side as well.

It is only once the dolphin maneuvers her way back over that the golden mare speaks again. She says that she is not too certain on whether family especially drew her before offering her name and asking where Laedere resided. There was a gentle pause as Laedere swished her tail and fluffed her wings before words escaped from her maw. "Mineself hails from thee Falls," her eyes flicker for a second between the pair of equids before Ardere bumps into her shoulder to press her onward. "Aye, we bear many a trade for thee dwellers to strive to reach thine fullest potentials."

She breaks a little, offering a few more words, "Thee Falls tis cloaked in allurement and water, with scads of verdure for thine consumption. We beseech ye to maintain a vocation in order to reside with our kin, though." There is a gentle pause as her eyes search to meet Rexanna's before allowing the last bit to fall from her lips. "Ye may call mineself Laedere, and thee personage beside mine flesh be'eth Ardere. Pleasure to meet both ye's acquaintance."

Always when you think this land was all figured out and easy, a curious creature steps in your path. The gold’s harks pick up and eyes flash with gold. Family is not her thing? Tasseled tail gives a generous lash. She didn’t want a happy little family? There was something more to this mare than met the eye. For now the gold only nods, as she begins to speak again. It was ironic the gold began to muse, that she should have used her apparent skills at such a time. It just cost her a spot at where she truly fit in. The golden should usually care. He should have corrected her, and tried again, but as the other mare began to speak with the curious but droning accent the gold could only sigh without much care. It sounded like her mind was already made up.

Still, if he had nothing to lose in this deal, might as well toss it around like you just don’t care. The golden seems to gather himself together. Haldir by his side noted the change and gave the hal one last glance and collected himself. “Laedere” The gold nodded and then looked at the golden mare. “It’s not all rainbows darling. It’s a pity it doesn’t sounds like you though, with skills like yours would fit right in.” He should know, he was the head of that hive (forgetting Roland when he could). Of course the gold had little to gain in this venture. He had the best thieves in all Helovia. Of course it wasn’t ideal for the Falls to gain one, but with an inner grin the gold remembered, he had that covered. So it was her last chance. The gold didn’t have time to waste.

Curiosity of the pegasus quickly dispersed as the mare spoke again. The Falls. That sounded like quite the interesting place. Rexanna's mind wrapped around the idea of the Falls. It appeared as though it wasn't entirely bad sounding and perhaps the place that she could fit in. Her teal eyes scanned over the pegasus as she spoke again. Allurement was something that seemed really interesting to her. She wasn't entirely sure though if the Falls would be the place for her either, but she thought it seemed like perhaps an option.

The pegasus' eyes met with Rex's before she spoke her name and her companions name. Rexanna offered her a gentle nod. "It's nice to meet you Laedere and Ardere." The golden mare spoke, her eyes swapping from Laedere's to the dolphin's that resided beside her. It didn't take long before the stallion spoke up once more in response to the pegasus. Rexanna's eyes travelled quickly over to him with the sound of the deep grumble that resounded from the male's throat. His comments to her allowed her to emit a small laugh, her teal eyes gazing at him from afar.

"Ah, so I see. Perhaps looks shouldn't mean everything to you though, dear." She offered him a smile. "Perhaps not making it seem as though it is full of rainbows might have appeared better." She nodded before looking at the two of them. "And now that you talk about it like that, perhaps the Basin does seem to peak a bit of my interest." Her voice was calm, but not quite as sweet as it had been before hand. She had an interesting aura about this stallion, but it seemed as though it could be something she could fit in to. He had no idea what kind of skills that Rexanna possessed, however it seemed as though he could guess she was good at something and that something being an ideal that they perhaps needed.

She was right, of course, but that didn’t mean the golden was just going to hand her the trophy. Under that golden robe the gold shifted with a long and weary exhale. It was just what he needed. Some new up start trying to play the deck. Even if she was good at it, the gold was always one to remind the rest of the world to mind its place. She especially seemed to have forgotten it he mused. Still, he wasn’t ready to argue with fools, not in this mood. So he says nothing, only gives her the same glazed look she had received before. He though, more interested in her than before. True he didn’t know if she had just gotten lucky on a lie of appearance (or god forbid he had read her wrong), or if she really was as talented as he guessed. Those weren’t the point. Point was, typically, those with some sass, and don’t mind a little gloom and doom will feel quite at home up north.

So he shifts and takes her in, not letting the other winged mare cut in now that the conversation had turned more to his favor. Though with his usual flavor of twisted humor he gives a low haunting laugh. It was a tricky business though. The golden was not exactly sure what she wanted now, and he didn’t want to venture out on the wrong limb again. In such times, vagueness was always his friend. Horses seemed to have such knacks for filling in the blanks themselves. “Yah you’d fit right in.” Haldir, frustrated at waiting to go, had already begun to explore behind the golden the way north. “Fine darling, it’s a northern stronghold, and all who step before its mountains and hear the wind whisper the names of its keepers do tremble with remembrance.” His grin falls, and he looks more reserved. “Of course civility is the watchword now a days.” A side glance at Laedere with a smile. “It appears though I do poor justice to our northern keep. Would you like to see it for yourself?” After all it is hard to give a diligently truthful explanation when you don’t give a shit. The golden turns slightly with a small smile of slight humor.

The mare's eyes danced between the two for a few moments, noting that the stag would be the one to speak in this case. Those bright teal eyes of her shot back to the golden male with curiosity of plenty as he began to speak once more. He acknowledged that Rex would fit right in, which caused a spark of interest to ignite in the mare's skull. She nodded slightly to him before he continued yet again. The Basin did seem like it would be a beautiful place to live, and the more that he talked about it the more that Rex began to yearn to see this mountaineous place. Then the next question struck her, if she would like to see it for herself. A gentle nod was thrown in his general direction before a small gentle smile plastered upon this golden mare's face.

"I do think that I would like that." Her voice was gentle before she took a few steps closer to the male and turned her head toward the pegasus who had grown quiet. "Thank you for your time, perhaps we may cross paths again." She spoke with a nod and a smile before turning her attention to this daring golden stallion. The wind began to pick up a bit more and lifted up the black tips of her mane before settling down. It was now when Rexanna began to wonder what the Basin was truly like. After all, curiosity killed the cat.
