Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

When he confirmed that he was indeed blind, Arah's smile lessened slightly. It must be hard to live life like that, day in and day out all you saw was complete darkness. Never a break from the gloom that clouded your eyes and prevented you from seeing the beauty of this world. Still! This stag didn't let it shape his life and it certainly would not shape their meeting. Laughing at his comment about sleeping in the open it was a moment before she responded. "I don't think that's safe for anyone!" Her musical laugh sounded again thinking about her own experiences when it came to sleeping in the open. From an early age she had feared the dangers the night had brought, now she had come to realise that horrors lived during the day as well.

As she came closer, the golden stag raised his hazel head. For a moment her golden eyes looked upon his sightless eyes as they seemed to search for her. Surely her breaths alerted him of where she was, perhaps she should not move much closer until he was entirely comfortable with her. Trust would probably have to be built slowly, after all the doe was nothing but a faceless stranger to him and he had no idea about her intentions (which were purely innocent) and no facial cues would be able to tip him off.

Informing him of his injury she studied how the blood had recoloured his perfect ivory stocking with a rather frightening red tint, but thankfully the laceration was not a deep one. Perhaps the fae princess' breaths had not been enough to tip him off about her whereabouts, or mayhaps the stag had not realised just how close she truly was because after a moment his head dropped and their antlers clattered together, causing a shocked gasp to sound from the doe's lips. For few bizarre seconds their antlers became locked together, Arah tried to wiggle her way of the hold but it was ultimately the stag who released her. "Oh." Slowly her breaths quieted as she studied him up close for the first time. Silence consumed her for a moment as her wide and stunned eyes took in his features, then finally a startled laugh sounded from her lips, her new found companion was also laughing awkwardly. "Indeed they are."

He seemed to be searching for her with his blind eyes again, the doe watched in silence. Pity wasn't the correct descriptive for her feelings towards his affliction. No...she felt...saddened by his situation but also it was joyous to watch his acceptance of such a difficult thing and still have an almost overwhelming love for his life.

At Wynter's return and the stag's sudden movement, the doe took her place beside him, ready to assist him in making way to the water source. Being able to tell that she was indeed directly beside him he once again turned his sightless eyes upon her. His rush of words caused a warmth to grow in Arah's chest, his genuine thanks were nearly becoming too much! Far too kind and compassionate for a broken soul like her to ever keep happy, but perhaps for tonight, she would be enough. Then both the fae princess and the golden stag would return to their respective homes and quite possibly never see each other again. Helovia was an world full of interesting and beautiful creatures, not too mention just how expansive this world was. "A must welcome interruption." Arah glanced away to hide her troubled facial expression, forgetting momentarily that he wouldn't be able to see her pain. "My musings were rather...troubled." After a pause, finally (with surprising gentleness) his bronzey shoulder leaned onto her own, with ease Arah held her ground and waited for Wynter to lead them on. Although these were rather strange circumstances, for what she figured would be a short distance, Arah found his warmth and weight quite comforting.

"Oh." Arah's musical laughter was again tumbling from her lips, this meeting had been nothing but delightful. The stallion's joy was intoxicating. "Wynter only understands my native tongue." Her musical hymn is light, she is not teasing him. 'Míle buíochas a thabhairt duit.' There was silence through the bond as Wynter came to land beside her, the griffin's blue eyes reminded trained upon her new companion for a moment. 'Fáilte. Sé ... Abhantrach?' Arah could understand her bonded's confusion, after all nearly all unicorns they met belong to Aurora Basin or they were recruits in The Threshold. Shaking her head in response to Wynter's question, the fae princess pauses in her movements for a second. "I translated. Wynter is happy to help." Slowly Arah began to lead towards the water source, leading him with gentle directions and instructions. It was an easy journey, even with his weight the doe would have been quite comfortable to continue on for a while longer. They arrived at a small pond, the frogs and crickets had fallen silent at their approach and now Arah felt as if she was under the gaze of hundreds of tiny judgemental eyes. Leading down into the water, the doe was surprised at how refreshing the cool water was against her heated skin. "Mmm, this is nice." It slipped out in a gentle whisper before she could stop it. Embarrassed Arah would be happy to just let some silence settle between them.

Her mind wonders onto the next task, after he was happy with his leg they should find shelter somewhere. There was a number of caves along the coast but they were a good couple of miles away. The doe wasn't sure if they would be able to make that journey together at night. Perhaps just a decent clutter of tree, it didn't seem like rain was a possibility tonight. Turning to Wynter, the griffin already seemed to know what the doe wanted. With just a few beats of her almighty wings, the griffin was gone. Compared to most of the other griffins in Helovia, Arah could proudly say that Wynter had grown to be one of the largest and strongest. With a wing span just over two meters, her snowy companion could truly be a terror in the skies. "If you're still worried about your leg in the morning I'll take you to Lena or d'Artagnan." Unless his home was closer than hers then she realised that he would prefer to just return home. Yet it was the right thing to do, offer her herd's services and she knew both Lena and d'Artagnan personally. In fact years ago it was d'Artagnan who had found her wondering through The Threshold.

So much had changed since that faithful day.

[[ Míle buíochas a thabhairt duit. - Many thanks to you. | 'Fáilte. Sé ... Abhantrach? Welcome. He...Basin? ]]
@[Tilney] - Yus, Irish. It's her native tongue and the only langue Wynter understands ;D
