Zora
April 11th, 2012 at 12:02am

The day had quickly given way to afternoon, and with nothing on the
agenda and no need of his constant hovering Zora had dismissed Thom to
do...whatever it was he did while she gave herself some much needed
time to get more acquainted with the Dragon's Throat territory. It
seemed like she had been accepted and then suddenly dropped into the
midst of things, expected to find her way on her own without any sort
of assistance or guidance. While the whole ordeal was a bit annoying,
especially with Thom following close at her heels voicing any and all
concerns that crossed his mind, she did admittedly feel a bit more
knowledgeable regarding the lay of the land than she did when first
arriving. And already she had found one place within the great expanse
of the territory that she thought suited her best. She was headed
there now after a quiet stroll across the beach, or at least mostly
quiet since she had done her best to ignore the occasional odd comment
from her chatty, insufferable companion , and smiled as she spotted
the telltale grasses that marked the edge of the Throat's oasis and
the central place of the territory. The vibrant, lively setting was
such a change from the barren beaches occasionally strewn with shells
and stones and the rocky terrain that made travel so very tricky and
tiresome to the north. Here by the oasis, however, movement was easy,
the grasses thick and plentiful, and the waters always refreshing and
cool, made even nicer by the turn of the season. A little spring in
her step, she approached the oasis with lifted spirits.

As she approached, her path trained more or less on the fresh spring
of water that fed the lush vegetation sprouting up around it, she let
her sandy golden eyes shift to the side and take in the tall
up-reaching tree that stood alone like a sentinel guarding those of
the Throat. Even this lone tree somehow struck a nerve with her and
made her like it, perhaps in the manner that its branches reached
upward toward the sky, as if it too acknowledged the sun's superiority
like those who inhabited the territory. "Mother would very much love
this tree," she stated aloud to no one but herself, slowing her
leisurely trot to a walk and slowing further still as she came along
the edge of the water to peek over the rim and stare at her
reflection. While walking up, she had had every intention of taking a
drink, but the water was so still, so reflective, that she felt the
need to take a moment and observe her mirrored image on its still
surface, turning her head this way and that while she took in her
youthful features, her sun bleached mane tinted with white strands,
her glistening opalite horn, the star of white that encircled the base
of her horn, and her sandy gold eyes. She smiled, frowned, pouted,
making faces at herself just to see what everyone else saw when she
truthfully did such things, and could only wonder if these recreations
were anything like the honest expressions she unconsciously gave on a
daily basis.

Forgetting her desire for a drink, the small champagne mare lifted her
horned head and glanced away, debating for a brief moment where she
might like to try venturing next. The northern rocky landscape seemed
the likely choice, considering her last trek there had been
prematurely ended when she nearly turned a hoof and scared both
herself and Thom with her stumble. Yes, returning there and taking
more care with her steps would do just nicely for the remainder of the
afternoon. But before she could even take a step from the waters, she
glanced at the shining, burning rays of the sun that stared down at
her from an angle, feeling the warmth of the afternoon light upon the
spring air, and was suddenly reminded of her new capability. Her pale
golden eyes lit up with a smile that spread instantly across her face,
nearly eliciting a girlish giggle from her lips which she caught just
before she could be seen completely making a fool of herself. Even if
there was no one around, she still had a poised manner to keep up. It
took a little concentration, her eyes closing to help her focus,
delving deep inside herself to find the magic that she had earned
rather than the one she had been born with and innately knew. Feeling
it stirring at her call, she tapped into the flame's calming warmth,
let it manifest itself through her body, and opened her eyes to stare
into the pool of water at her glowing reflection. Unable to contain
it, a short, breathy laugh escaped her muzzle as she stared at her
reflection, her wispy mane and forelock replaces by a lively, pale
orange tinted flame that flowed along her head and neck, reminiscent
and yet completely different from the bleached brown color of her
mane. Flicking her tail, which too had been transformed into a fiery
version of itself, the mare tore her gaze from her reflection and took
a few dancing steps away from the oasis, delighting in her new fire
magic gifted to her within her new home and knowing her mother would
be proud, perhaps even jealous, that her own daughter had surpassed
her in showing fealty to their chosen god of worship.

Vayu
April 16th, 2012 at 12:29pm

Fresh blood and sweet, succulent mares, all ripe for the picking, all
for him! In his mind, Vayu laughed evilly, the diabolical corruptor of
the innocent and pursuer of the naughty, but really he was just horny.
Spring was here, and all he wanted was a warm body to cuddle with.
Vayu had grown up in a big herd with lots of siblings, and physical
closeness was something he never lost a need for, so when spring came
around and the girls were out and about, Vayu wasted no time in making
himself available. Unfortunately, for a while the only mares of the
throat had been Flicker and Alustriel. Ra would never let Vayu touch
Flick, and Alustriel... well, she was fire to play with. Very shiny,
but he wanted something he could touch. So when he caught the scent of
a strange mare on the salty wind, Vayu's excitement was something
difficult to contain.

He found the mare at the oasis, standing beneath the great tree and
admiring her reflection. Vayu could not suppress a chuckle as the
newcomer called upon the Sun to ignite her mane into flames. The
palomino pegasus had taken a spot some distance away from the oasis to
watch her, not wanting to disturb the mare in her admiration of
herself. She was a pretty little thing, a champagne unicorn that Ra no
doubt had very much liked, and looked quite young, which meant she was
either a complete fanatic or could be saved from losing herself to
this farce. Or both. Vayu sighed, shaking his head at the naivete of
youth, before turning his blue and amber eyes back to the mare. Her
body moved so gracefully as she left the reflection and started
prancing, flaming mane and tail casting shadows and light on her back.
Vayu rarely called upon his fire, finding it to get caught in the wind
that surrounded him, but he could certainly admire it in others.

At last, he approached the mare, letting out a whistle to show his
appreciation and alert her to his presence. The wind around his hooves
spun gracefully as he strode forward, great wings folded at his side.
"I must say, tha' firey look does suit you well, miss," he said
languidly, smiling a charming, coltish smile at her and bobbing his
head in greeting. "I do hope I haven't in'errupted your dancing; it's
rare ta see someone so lovely in the Throat, these days. I take it
you're new, 'cus I'm sure I'da recognized your pretty face; Ra drugged
ya in, I'm 'summing?"

[ ooc || sorry it's so crappy, I wanted to get something up for you <3 ]
