[Continuing for @[Midas]! The girls can keep the other thread! ]

As Midas lips spoke of Sohalia and Meg, Gaucho could feel his pulse quicken and his blood run hot. He might have bellowed, might have demanded more information right on the spot had Ampere not placed herself firmly in the way of the trio continuing their conversation. At her approach, Gaucho felt as though he was splitting into three different forms: a lover, who wanted nothing more than to pin Ampere benath himself and to ravage her as he did that day on the Island. To feel and not have to remember the salty taste of her flesh and the rhythmic pulsing of their bodies in the grass ... yet in stark contrast, part of him wanted to boot her from the conversation, literally. To rise up and feel his hooves strike the side of her cheek, to smash bone if possible. He was healed now, at least physically. Even if his heart had not been mended from the wounds she had so deeply ingrained, his body had. He would fight her again if she would take him - he'd ignore his duties as Sultan if only to selfishly be near her again ... but then ... Sohalia. Her name dropped from Midas's lips, and Gaucho - the third Gaucho - wanted to push Ampere away. Wanted to shelter and hide her from the words his painted comrade was saying. If Sohalia was back, then everything truly was doomed for he and the Blue.

Sharply Gaucho cast a look at Ampere, both pleased and annoyed with her interest in Africa

"We go this way-" Gaucho beckoned, opening a fiery wing and pointing towards the Oasis of which Midas was well antiquated. "Then girls can talk>"

Midas account of what had happened match more or less with what Gaucho had known. Meg had told him that she had met with Africa, Rasta and Midas, but that her reception had been less than hospitable. According to his warrior, Rasta had been down right rude. She had mentioned that Midas might or might not have offered her a place to rest, but that she had already taken to the skies. A small smile crept onto his features as the pair walked away from the women-folk. He did love a feisty mare after all.

"Sohalia is found .." Gaucho began, his voice rough and demarcated by emotion. "Meg return a few days after leaving Falls. Gaucho leave next day with other Throat warriors. We find her just before Earth God appear with boat.." His voice trailed off succinctly. Of course Midas would know what he was talking about. Being ignorant of the Earth God and his boat-project was simply unthinkable.

Abruptly Gaucho halted. His stormy gaze fell upon his painted companion in earnest. A question lingered in his mind, and yet his faith was shaken. Midas had dissolved whatever trust and friendship had been between them, or at least it felt that way. Still, the Wildfire felt a kernel of trust that the golden-tipped would speak truthfully now. Perhaps that was a mistake. "Soh found .. but we look for another. Have Falls seen a dark mare with skull face? Gaucho fight her once ... Confutatus ? You see her?"

A cerulean mare came to us, her expression is a rich mirror of delightful excitement upon catching sight of Africa. (A sentiment my partner seemed less inclined to share.) As they conversed, Guacho motioned for us to move away -- continue our palaver in private. The suggestion was reasonable and I found no cause for argument... this skull nodded passively in agreement; though the acceptance didn't stop these gems from turning to Africa, the molten depth attempting to reassure us both that she'd manage. Fina huffs and shoots a hard glance to Silas; having already felt my anxiety though our connection, known my feelings toward yon flaming sunchild... she took off, spiraling on the moist sea breath over my granite hued mate.

"Thank ye," I whispered for those secret ears alone. Her answer a wordless scoff, but I felt the promise behind her actions and knew they (Silas and Fina) would see my swollen lover well taken care of. Neve chatters excitably and flutters to my spine while eyeing the other Zephyr with innocent interest that was slightly dimmed with disappointment. It didn't seem like Guacho's babe wanted a game.

_______

Shorter steps trace his lengthy stride. I listened eagerly as he answered my offer with plain confirmation that his pale lady had indeed returned... Ebony ears slip back a notch, an outward sign of my confusion; this wasn't a man who brimmed with joy upon witnessing the return of someone most loved. I pressed a smile regardless of inner musing, "It lifts my heart to hear she's home." Which was true; even if my happiness for her return seemed grand in comparison to his.

Before anything more can be said my company suddenly skids to a stop. These ivory feathers tighten their hold and Neve is jerked forward a step as I also plant my hooves into the sand and hold fast. The Sultan changes our subject into one of more formal regard; he asks about another missing figurehead, Confutatus. For a moment the name holds little meaning in the swirling material of my mind. Then suddenly the file comes forward and I remember; Africa had mended a woman with such marking and title, crown bobs ahead of my voice, "Aye," the strange mare with foul breath was long gone, "She appeared wounded upon my border, a healer saw her tended to and escorted back to the wilds many months ago." Brows narrow, interested, "Has she grieved ye?"

Whatever doubt Gaucho might have felt regarding the sincerity of Midas' comments about Sohalia were kept to himself. The paint had many so many poor choices, at least to Gaucho's mind, that his position regarding Soh seemed incompatible. That, or Midas had simply gone crazy. Regardless, this line of thinking was overshadowed by Midas next statement.

"Months?" Gaucho repeated. Part of him had hoped that he would find Confutatis within the borders of the Falls. Afterall, Midas had been the overseer of many crazy minds over the years, after the wraiths. The dun had assumed the Earth God had placed Midas within his lands so that they might both, along with the land itself, heal the minds of those who had been a part of the asylum. Gaucho remembered one mare in particular - Seele - who had seemed particularly nutty. Where she was now, Gaucho didn't know. All he knew was that he liked Ghost better, but even so, the tri-coloured tribrid didn't seem all there, either.

"Yes. Gaucho tell Throat not to trust or aid her. She attack and try to steal babies. She try to steal and then run away." His words true, though not necessarily about his own. Yet the Basin was his ally now, and he would treat them with the same fealty and protection he would treat any who walked upon his sands. "Even though Throat an island now, there are still ways for wingless to get in." Gaucho was no fool, he knew his family was not immune from the attacks of others simply by placing water all around their home. All he had done was force them to become more creative.

On that note, the dun fell silent. Part of him wondered what Midas thought of his improvements - he had told the paint earlier than he had plans for the Throat, although he couldn't recall if he had specifically said that this was to be the outcome. Yet he didn't ask. He was still far too skeptical of Midas to drop into idle conversation so easily.
