He pulled away from her, the warmth of his inner fire dissipating in the distance he drew, and with it, any lingering hope the girl had for being able to fulfil his needs. They were siblings, in a sense, they had no choice but to cherish each other, and that made the distance he forced all the more unbearable to carry. Tears threatened to overflow, but she blinked and swallowed them back, sure that he would be sending her away in no time. But the words he spoke, or rather, the tone behind them, prompted her to stay, to linger and support, however useless she so obviously was.

Then he called her Rii, and her heart opened up again, her hooves closed the distance once more, her nose reaching out so that she could better view the necklace he was indicating. Though she didn't know it, wasn't fully aware of it, she also simply longed to be nearer to him, and she used the distraction of the strange charms to achieve this closeness.

"They look similar to an amulet, an object that, depending on which God blessed it, reacts differently to magic." A small frown creased the gentle contours of her visage, as she considered the strange artefact. There was certainly something about it - Cathun had described it as a seal of some sort. The girl blinked, taking in the appearance of the colt as a whole once more, looking at the way his mane and tail shed embers, the way his eyes looked like the depths of the volcanic lava that swelled at the Heart Caves. If he had an element to label him, it would be fire, she was sure, though she was as yet unaware of the full extent of his condition.

"Lace wouldn't be wrong about this." Amaris said, her voice different somehow, more mature, more confident. The girl had taken on the pose of a queen once more, a creature who was less equine and more draconic, almost savage in her surety. It was a stark contrast to the shy, hopeless girl moments before. The dark smudge of the dragon that accompanied her cooed softly as he twirled on the breeze above them, having left his perch atop the girl's withers in the moments that she found her inner queen once more.

"We will fix it, Cathun." Forgetting about the prospect of ever leaving him, the young golden dragon reached her long neck over the narrow width of his, purring deeply within her chest as she did so. It was a tight embrace, one he would have to work hard to escape - she felt the heat generated by whatever magic it was that possessed him, but she was scaled with dragon's scales, an armour naturally holding a high resistance to flame and heat - if anything, she found the sensation pleasant. "It's just going to take some time and work, from all of us. But we'll figure it out." Somehow.
