Just A Picture To Burn
I have to admit, with the the weight lifted of being Diviner... I could breathe a little easier. I found myself, able to frolic as if I was a child again. Most would still say at my age I am still a child... But in my short time i've been through more than most. That was why today I left the Throat and the warmth. The stories my mother told me of the Heavenly Fields had my attention. One story in particular. The one about my granddam Solstice, who was murdered up here by someone from the Basin. It's as I land, that I realize something is off. Momma had never said it was this foggy. I was lucky to of found the ground. At least I had wings to fly if I had gone to far.
Many many others had arrived before me, all looking to a she wolf... and an egg! Oh please let today be my lucky day! I have tried three times before, and failed each time. Or at the very least I had not been found to be the right one for that egg. I watch as two green glass doors appear out of the fog. I listen closely to the riddle, taking note as it seemed most had of what could get through the doors. "I agree with the rest. A heffer may pass but a cow may not, because of the lack of a double letter." My golden eyes fixed on the wolf, my gaze holding steady. Today was my day. I was going home with this egg. If not me, then hopefully at least one of the many gathered who also called the Throat home.
