Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Kaos :: The Beginning of the End ☼ - 6/2017 - Kaos placed Helovia in a time-bubble for a short period of time, but the Helovian gods are fighting back. But Kaos is powerful- far more powerful than anyone thought. This may be the beginning of the end of Helovia as we know it.
Kisamoa :: A New Kind of Kaos ☼ - 3/2017 - Kisamoa asks Helovians to help him restore the Spectral Marsh. Which side will you choose?

Sky Island :: Murder ☼ - 10/25/14 - Vesta has been found dead on the island, and the gods have called to you to solve the murder!
Sky Island :: Peace ☼ - 7/7/14 - An island has appeared in the sky! Clouds carry Helovians from the Veins to the sky.
Restoration :: We Welcome the Dawn ☼ - 9/21/13 - The sun has finally risen on this day, giving the land new light, but the Time God and the Sun God have yet to be seen.
Endless Night :: Broken Magic Plot ☼ - 8/30/13 - The earth god has returned and is walking across Helovia to heal the land. Every area can now be considered lush and prosperous, but the sun has still not risen.
☼ - 7/19/13 - The moon has risen in the sky, heralding the return of the Goddess of the moon. Lamp trees which light the paths have grown brighter, moon flowers which grow in dark places have begun to grow and prosper and the world is brighter, filled with a new hope.
Endless Night :: Dead Magic Plot ☼ - 6/22/13 - The gods of Helovia, in order to protect the world, have disappeared into the rift, leaving the world sunless, moonless and magic-less in their absence. Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

SITE WIDE PLOT IDEAS
Please help us come up with creative site wide plot ideas! Anything having to do with the gods, tragedy, darkness, festivals, and dice-related events are heavily encouraged. We will be less inclined to consider site wide plots that center around one herd or character or will involve too much admin bias/inability for admin to participate.
Previous awesome plots:
:: FOREVER TALLSUN - the sun god took out his rage in fire on your characters!
:: DOPPLEGANGER - you got to play your character's opposite!
:: WRAITH - infectious wraith characters got to infect and you had to heal them!
:: PERPETUAL DARKNESS - Helovia was dark and no magic worked
:: MURDER MYSTERY - deaths all around, and you had to discover the culprit!
:: Helovia is invaded by an outside force seeking to take over!
- Invaders can be anything, from a neighboring land to predators to mythological beings. Could be played by us like in the Doppleganger plot, or handled by RE or a combination of both (invasion leaders RE'd ex).
:: Death and/or Rebirth of a God
- I wonder what would happen if a god actually died... I also wonder what would happen if someone actually managed to kill a god.
:: Companion uprising!
- Something corrupt the companions of Helovia and make them band together against their bonded.
:: Flu season!
- A magic flu spreads like wildfire and affect anyone with any type of magic, of course resistant to magical healing. Quest to find the cure!
:: Natural catastrophe
- A completely natural yet devastating event that force the herds to adapt to new conditions. Whether permanent or not remains to be seen.

- While our Helovian gods are not inherently benevolent, they exist to create balance in the world. Could there be a force that is not as powerful as the gods but more powerful than the "normal" Helovians that terrorizes the land/inhabitants? While dark magic is birthed from the Moon Goddess and she has recently done terrible things, she is not "evil" (at least, to my understanding). This could even be a god-creation gone bad. Not like a demi-god created through procreation, but like how Christians believe God created Adam and Eve without procreation.

:: Meteor Collision
- Helovia is hit with a meteor that wreaks havoc on the environment, creates a crater in the earth, and brings with it alien magic (and lifeforms??)
:: Something with the Timegod
- when does he get to cause problems like his siblings? Maybe he turns everyone in Helovia into FOALS or triggers rapid aging and everyone has to work together to find out a cure

- I like the Devil idea! I was just thinking of that myself.
- Pied Piper sounds a lot like what Pan was doing in Once Upon a Time. That could be a good reference if you did that plot.
- I like the idea of some sort of possession.. demon/spirit/something. Makes you do things you don't want to do. XD
- Any type of amnesia that is maybe somehow contagious and there are certain steps applicable to each character to require getting their memory back.
- A type of bioterrorism or something that causes either permanent defects or marks on the surface. Could be another way of killing off characters in a cool way. :)
Maybe an Infectious Disease type plot? I think it would be interesting considering what a hot button issue it's been in the real world lately. Maybe "patient zero" could show up in the Threshold and then the Helovians would have to figure out how it's transmitted, who's immune, if there's something that can make people immune (magic, certain herbs, certain bloodlines/breeds, etc) and it could be based off of real diseases (human diseases like mumps, measles, or ebola or pony diseases like strangles, EEE, EPM, etc) or completely fictionalized/exaggerated things. I think it might be interesting if there were multiple levels though not just working on a 'cure' but also discovering more about the source, preventive measures, martial law, etc.
Also gives opportunity for some ideas as to what symptoms, disease complications, etc.

Wolf wolf! No really, I'm a wolf!::
What if some strange wolf like creature invades Helovia, picks out important people(leaders, healers, builders, generals, ect) and turns them into wolves! They keep their coloring, not designs, just basic pelt color. Like grullo horses would be silver, no barring or anything, Appaloosas would be their base color, and so on. The wolves could talk to each other, but not horses. To break the curse, the wolves have to get the horses to trust them and defeat the creature! Or something along those lines lol. It wouldn't just have to be IC important people, but the wolf thing would target them first. Maybe even target widely known characters, like Mauja for example! [Sorry Neo you were there and TONS of equines know him! <3]
the switching of memory is really, really interesting, but I think it could be problematic in terms of like.. will participation be voluntary? otherwise- is everyone ready and comfortable to give up their characters' secrets? xD

We had the "Great cleanse" which is a biblical story, so perhaps we could use other ones as well such as:
- Tower of Babel: Characters begin to speak different languages which makes them unable to understand each other verbally. Then they have to co-operate some way or another to solve problems that arises through the plot. It could start out slowly. Initially they could begin to forget certain words, or when they say something only half of it would be understandable for others until they lose the ability to communicate by words. There could either be groupings, like one group of characters speaking the same language (especially characters who has something against each other to make cooperation even harder, or it could be grounds for reconciliation) or everyone speaking a different one.
- Fall of Lucifer: This is very much like what Time suggested, an evil being underneath the power of the Gods, but above the normal person. A fallen angel which tempts, corrupts and terrorizes. Helovians will have to get together to battle this evil, but maybe some are led into temptation or possessed? Perhaps we could even mix in a little Harry Potter, making it impossible to destroy it directly because pieces of its soul is stored away in horcruxes. Then the characters have to undergo series of riddles and battles and stuff like that to get to each one, and destroy them with a weapon the Gods made because the Gods can't touch it etc.
Other than that, I second Angel's suggestions of characters switching minds and bodies with one another. Perhaps those with bonded companions could even switch places? Imagine becoming a small companion having to shepherd and learn your bonded how to be a horse, while trying to make sure nothing happens to your body!
Oh, I really like the Fall of the lucifer idea! And all Cathun's idea basically sound great :D and changing into random animals seems like fun too. ;d Switching character traits around might get really difficult - perhaps to difficult for it to really be fun and memorable, though?

She's been a big meanie to the mortals recently, but there should still be some horses who worship her! They could dabble in dark magic and make sacrifices and have weird handshakes :D
I really love the Fall of Lucifer idea too and since all the gods seem to like making babies with mortals, could you imagine the unlucky mare/stallion getting swallowed up by some monster underground???
That'd be an interesting plot to involve all the gods and the mortals in where they're all like 'what was that????'
