Charade after charade after charade - Was this how it worked here? New leaders being chosen by other leaders? It was so vague. Shouldn't those wanting already have a following? Wasn't there an organized group ready and greedy for these lands? Where was the democracy she preferred smelling. Where was the logic. Everything instead of this nonsense.

Maren had hidden herself in the mists; wrapped up in the clouds of her own creation and that of the lands. But at some point she had stepped on a dead twig and thus had decided to make herself known, placing herself somewhere in the caress of the shadow of the trees on the outer lines of the area. With the halo shining above her head, it did not really matter in which shadowed corner she stood to find cover, as only the shadow of light could hide what made her stand out in the shadow. And thus she was not to be made a spy. But who would want to be a spy, anyway, when there was a god to serve. Everyone was allowed to see her, she would even give her figure a voice if anyone would ask for it. The silence of the priestess' burgundy shaded eyes moved to the Forsaken, watched her stern appearance. Thoughtfully she looked, her wings just as quietly laying on the air around her face.

She listened as those who did come to speak, spoke. Time passed and somehow her mind did not manage to judge - or at least not the way that one, who's coat was filled with burned fireflies, did. Even after his attempt to make every nominee feel bad about themselves, he still managed to pick a favorite. Hmm... Are you troubled? He must be, after all. Just like she had been that night - Or perhaps he had been an idiot too, once, and now he found himself to late to warn everyone else for the same fate.

She did not really understand what the mare with the long hair was hearing in the words that had been said so far. After all, the way Mauja (she now knew) had spoken had not particularly been... Clear- or based on any arguments. Maren concluded that he was just generously leaking emotion from all the cracks and crevices that had apparently formed him along the way. Thoughtful, she continued shewing on her tongue. Guts...

Maren's gaze suddenly got caught by a blue flash, an entering pegasus. Somewhat surprised she looked how the mare had found herself on the ground. Are you serious...? Was she entering this... This thing? This... happening? No, of course not. She told herself. The Mother of Companions was, after all, just declared chancellor. So, having eased her own heart with her self-woven conclusions, she glanced once more over at the Lady of the Basin and the former Queen of the Edge, and as quietly as she could she walked in Ampere's direction, covered by the shadows of the mists and the forest. When she had found a place next to the mare, Maren wobbled her eyebrows just once before shrugging her striped shoulders with a silent sigh. As if trying to say: Sorry that you've come all the way.
