Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

It would be just the young steed's luck that he would pick a day to patrol the Deep Forest when the weather turned foul. Wings shuffled against his hide, the water dripping off the downy, oily appendages. His mane stuck up in random wet spikes, his tail slapped against his mud-hued hocks, and he sighed a wet, sloshy sigh as he trudged through the rainshower to the place of his patrol. He chose to walk it, for only fools flew in this weather, and besides, it gave him more time to chew over his thoughts and swallow down the anxiety he might have felt at participating in a patrol with only mares. And not just one of them, but three of them.
He wondered if his father was trying to give him some kind of hint about his manhood. Or maybe even a gift?
The lanky young lad wandered with a dour cast to his countenance, ears tilting so that they would allow water within, eyes half-shut for the same reason. The Deep Forest was a vast expanse of trees, and he had not ventured there for an extended amount of time before - now was as good a time as any, surely, for his body was getting fitter and his confidence was slowly growing. He was a handsome lad, almost a diluted version of his father - a harmonious cross between his parentage, really. Emerald eyes looked to the changing leaves that decorated the limbs above him, and the forest floor below him, with mild disinterest - until he realised that he wasn't quite sure where he was meeting his herdmates to carry on with this patrol.
He halted, somewhat awkwardly, turning his crown over his shoulders and peering around, as if hoping the answer would simply present itself to him as he stood awkwardly in the middle of the forest.
Well, this looked promising.

So this is how it feels like to have a companion, the tigermare thought as she looked over her shoulder. Patiently waiting on the ugly animal. Behind her, in the air, a baby mountain goat carelessly jumped around. Prancing through branches and trees as a ghost - a spirit. How it felt like to have this kind of companion? Suprisingly distracting - even irritating at times, but also quit entertaining. Especially while walking through a dark forest like this, it was nice to have something else beside her halo lighting up the path for once. The priestess watched it do its spirity thing for a bit before walking off to find her patrolgroup again, even though she somewhere knew it would follow wherever she would go, anyway. Yes, it was a nice gift from the Sun God to enlighten the whole of the Dragon's Throat with.
Beneath her hooves fallen leaves and dead branches made their usual cracking noise as she walked. Above her the crowns of the higher trees swayed in the loud wind as the storm, which was hanging in thick clouds above them, made the pouring announcement that it had indeed turned Orangemoon. The mare sighed as she kept her wings folded above her head like an umbrella, keeping her eyes clear from irritating rain. Nevertheless, water still found its way to pretty much everywhere. "Well... If you want to also prove yourself useful - besides being just silly and amusing..." ...You could perhaps help me search for these kids I am supposed to be patrolling with today. The tigermare pressed through tight lips. But then suddenly her movements stopped as her eyes pried in the grey distance. In the far she had spotted a tall pegasi figure. A person. Slightly suspicious, she glanced to the side to catch big see-through goat eyes that stared right at her, hanging in the air and entangled by a cloud of spiritual energy. Huh? She frowned thoughtfully for a moment, but then shook it off and walked to the one she shared her wet, hairdripping misfortune with. "A fellow sufferer or a silent recipient?" The tigermare questioned out loud as she walked closer, peaking from under the white feathered fingers that withhold the rain from directly falling into her eyes. She would've smiled even too if the rain hadn't already filled her mouth with a swig of water, which she felt like she would have to swallow first.
With wings shuffling and a dour cast to his countenance, the young lad tilted his ears back against his neck and decided he would just patrol by himself. With the overcast, rainy atmosphere and still mostly thick canopy overhead, the glow that emanated from his body became more evident - he didn't need others to patrol, right? Particularly the group he had been assigned - surely they had better things to do than spend this rainy day beneath the trees with him, the glowing wonder of Helovia. Perhaps they had even the forethought to simply not patrol on this day - maybe they were all home, safe within the Throat, standing dry in the desert that rarely saw a rainy day. Ivezho sighed, seeing clearly in his mind, the images of these girls huddled together, laughing in his absence. Spice at least, had seemed nice enough when he met her at the recent gathering of the herd, and so her face he held clearly in his mind when he thought those sour thoughts. The curious, striped form of Maren also tickled his memory from the meeting, for she was their new Diviner, their oracle, the reader of the flames - so easily he decided she would have far more important things to do than attend this patrol. She had probably even discussed it with his father, gotten off the duty altogether, for her efforts in reading the Sun Lord's lore would surely consume her wholly. Isara, he had no idea of - in his mind she was simply a female figurine who stood with the others, laughing behind his wet back as he faced this weather and patrol alone.
With a sigh he meandered lazily towards a tree - there were plenty around - using its thicker limbs to give him more shelter. He could have extended his wings, but they were keeping his lungs warm folded by his sides, their dark tips all the darker for the rain that stained them. He settled into a slightly more relaxed pose, resigned to his fate, until something caught his eye, his attention flickered up for a moment, and he found himself plucked from his resignation and suddenly thrown into the thralls of meeting another. He recognised her, with her curious wings and stripes (and goat?!), and now the halo that appeared above her. Surely she was an angel, descended from heaven - it was no wonder the Lord of the Sun saw her fit to be his Diviner. His sights lingered on her for but a moment however, as he was drawn to the goat-creature that accompanied her. He recognised it vaguely - all of those in the Throat had been blessed with these strange, glowing spirit-animals, though his own had deigned to make an appearance (it was probably hiding from this rain like all the intelligent people back home, right?).
Ears perked up as the mare's voice posed her question, and he was stunned for a moment at being called out on his stubborn suffering of the weather despite all the signs being thrown at him that he should just give up and return home, to the Sun and the dry desert sands. But he instead allowed a smile to carve its way along his maw in response, dipping his head in greeting to his fellow herdmate - whom he was sure had no recollection of him with his shy, quiet ways at the meeting. "A bit of both, I guess," his reply came with adolescent tones, his voice a mixture of boyishly light and deeply masculine.
Something else tingled at his senses then, a strange sort of feeling at the back of his mind, a niggling, tickling sensation that he couldn't quite define. It grew and swelled within him, and suddenly he felt some kind of otherness nearby. His ears pricked and while he felt on edge, he didn't fear what he knew was now coming - rather, he almost expected it.
"It" being a giant elk, stoic and silent as its eerie light crept around the dark trees, the rain falling through it with ease. "Huh," Ivezho murmured as he looked to the giant beast, who he simply knew was his - his gift from the Sun, his spirit creature having revealed itself to him at last. "'Bout time you showed up," he called to the creature, who merely looked at him squarely, with its broad antlers framing the hard lines of its face, its expression unreadable - and yet, he felt its support, its strength and trust in him. Turning back to Maren with a bemused expression on his own young face, he asked with a lopsided grin, "Shall we get on with this patrol, then?"

She glanced at the kid, rain blurring her vision but still finding her way through to make out the rims of his face. Not that she could read a lot from it. Still, the atmosphere had turned from regrettable to rather nice since the likes of the youngster crossed hers. (The matchmakers sure knew how to pick at random.) Even though she saw most of these stunted horses as immature, this one had some kind of calmness around him, some edge she, for some reason, rather enjoyed. He seems like fun. Perhaps the cause of this rare, instant-liking of this young fortunate soul was because of the rain – Perhaps the logics-department of her mind just wanted a rain-day off so that it could sleep in for once on this depressing day. Which was why she did not particularly feel like pursuing the worth of life, dead animals and the purpose they had now their souls had found peace. She would not bother him with the question of what color white heaven really was – and other highly philosophical questions today. Today she felt like being bored.
"'Bout time you showed up,"
Still, she couldn’t help the fact that she was simply used to letting herself fall into that abyss of endless thoughts that she woke up from them with a shuddering shock. Her eyes, having strayed away from the guys expressions, now pulled themselves back to that point from the dark forest that lay past the tree he was leaning against. “Ye –“ Sorry, she was about to say without thinking, but then she sharpened her gaze away from the droplets of light falling before her eyes, and turned it to the spiritual energy, cringing and blooming in the shape of an Elk. “Cool”, she acknowledged dry with one, almost unnoticeable nod. The mare watched it move in its ominous, but beautiful way. And again that edged voice, which she found he was passing to her with an unsymmetrical grin. He really needs to fix that.
“Well, there isn’t anything keeping us here,” she began as she began to slowly walk one of the familiar paths. “So why not do crazy.” Maren said with an almost exciting voice. She had already explored these forest - been there, done that. She was already not moving particularly fast, so when she stopped her movements it didn’t take as much effort as usual. “By the way, if you were only waiting for that elk to appear... I don’t find that a legit excuse to be late on your assigned patrol,” she frowned at the grown-up kid. Then her frowned turned inwards as she began to walk again, mumbling to herself more than to the kid. “Why didn’t we just all meet up at the Throat and go from there together, for the Lord’s sake, instead of having these vague arrangements all the time. There is absolutely no order", she spat at the mud beneath her moving hooves, having her own little moment. “Right?” she turned her judgmental angelic rained-out dripping face to the kid, (wings still folded above her head) pretending she was interested in also weighing his opinion. But she liked him, and thus at least pretended to ask him. Not that she knew his name, or anything.

IVEZHO
Well, this is weird, the youth decided as he peered into the strange, cosmic eyes of the elk. It was giant, standing well taller than him - and he was no short thing, having shot up to almost his full height this last season (though he was still lanky, still coltish in appearance, still without the layers and layers of muscle and sinew to bulk him up). He could feel it, though he wasn't even sure what it was. It had a strange energy about it, something that he felt within, something intangible by his normal senses - it was something his soul felt. And it was foreign, strange, and he wasn't sure if it was entirely pleasant. But the elk simply looked at him, silent, stoic, a soldier carved of light and energy - and he accepted it (for it wasn't about to go anywhere, was it?).
So absorbed was he in wondering about his new soul-friend, that he received Maren's rebuke with some shock. Eyes widened as they travelled back to her striped form (which was also leaving the area - he hurried to fall into stride with her, his long legs good for something, at least), but he held his tongue and swallowed the retort that was poised on its tip -Actually, I was waiting for you, Diviner, and these other fillies we're supposed to be patrolling with. The aforementioned elk fell into stride behind them, his broad antlers spreading wider than their two bodies standing side-by-side, the light being shed from his mystical form illuminating the raindrops that fell all around them, causing the forest surrounds to appear like rivers of molten gold was running everywhere.
Then the woman began ranting, more to herself than he, yet she looked at him with her intense glare and posed the query at him - what was he meant to do? He had been educated by his mother the ways of conversation, but he had never really needed to learn how to deal with mares before - teasing your own sister definitely did not count. "Sure," he said, feeling that it would be best to just agree and hope the subject that cause apparent tension in the mare would soon be dropped. "You should mention it to my father," he added, taking another step before realising just what he had said. "I mean, Gaucho. He'd listen to you. You're his maegi, his Diviner." He spoke the word of his father's language with ease, his tongue easily rolling into the primitive accent, though his tones were otherwise native and smooth - he had noticed the accent of the mare, the curl of her words, the curious way her r's rolled off her tongue - but he understood her well enough, and hoped she would understand him.
