She'd left, driven northbound by mystical forces that wanted her to feel the chill of the coming Frostfall, to see the stars twinkle in the crisp, icy air as they dress themselves in the colours produced by vibrant, mythical Northern Lights. She wanted everything that her island home wasn't able to hand her. She was child living inside the reverse of her true love, offering every piece of her body and soul to something that didn't feel right.
The desert simply wasn't her like the snow was back north.
Snowflakes had yet to begin their descent from the bleak, dove coloured clouds that loomed over the northern peaks like a dark, malevolent force. She wanted them like she wanted so many other things in life.
She wanted them to charge down and lock her into the caves forever. She wanted their icy fingers to tear her skin down to the bone where she could feel every bit of their cold embrace at the finest points, all the way down to the raw nerves.
Overall, Sikeax wanted herself to pass into the new realm of living in the north, surrounded by what cradled her when she entered the world. The snow was a beautiful that twinkled and glimmered like precious stones under the low beams of the Sun. Down south, it would be burning with a vengeance, but here? Oh no, it was calm, gentle, and most importantly, affectionate.
Hobgoblin complained somewhat along the way. It had become almost second nature for the champagne to expect his complaints. For today, it had been the relentless pace of her journey, collecting her sides into a long canter in silence.
In the end, he gave up, tangling himself up in her dark mane and clinging with small claws, tucked away into the coarse, tangled mass.
Dusk settled itself firmly into the ice caves by the time the hollow clicks and thumps of her hooves meeting the floor bounced off the walls. Hobgoblin's head pushes itself out, latching talons into her mane and neck as he climbs up to her skull, swing a long neck about to stare into the blue caves. A hiss releases from his lips in a long, slow sort of way like steam escaping a boiling tea kettle. Teeth fill the gaping area that appears from between his lips.
"Be quiet. Nothing is here." Harsh and bitter, stern in order to add discipline because she can feel the anger and distrust that fills his heart at the depths of an unknown place. Her mind is red with his anger, and while she tries to fight him, it's a losing, downhill battle.
"Nothing here will hurt you, I assure you." No relief is given as the feeling of claws digging into her skin heightens. Before long there will be blood.
Standing in the doorway, she sighs. Warmth trickles down the right side of her neck as she twists a single ear about to meet the sound of flapping wings, the burst of air that strikes her and the sight of her companion fly forward into the maze. Unblinking, she trails, following the boy as he releases a weak attempt of a scream, yelling outwards into the abyss to announce his presence, their presence in the only way he is sure will get him much needed attention that Sikeax has denied.
