His voice grew butterflies in her chest, heart fluttering slight but enough to notice. Enough as if to feel the velvet wings brush against the jail of her rib cage. His sets of words were gentle and kind and she appreciated them entirely, that is until the middle sector. The point where he expressed he didn’t want to share her with anyone else. The fluttering stopped and was almost felt by regret. It seemed to muddle in her blood, in her veins. She kept the gentle happy façade on her face, but inside was disastrous. It was growing into feeling like she was stuck in tar. Did he mean from now on? Or did he mean before now? Because she wasn’t sure what the future held, but she knew she had a deal with Caleb that she had to keep.

A part of her also wished that Temb and Caleb would never have the chance to meet. Hopefully it worked out for her, if not; she’d be in for a much worse state of decay. ”I love the idea of being yours.” Her smile grew gently, but her heart seared more.
