"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Kaj
the Stormbringer
As much as Kaj would have loved to linger longer at the bonfires, enjoying the company of his fellows and rebuilding bridges between himself and Destrier, the sunny stallion had his own duties to fulfill and competitions to direct. So with a regretful, but sincere smile, the man turned and strode away from his friends and family and back to the starting line for the flighted treetop course. It had been his idea, especially when Parelia had come up with the equine and unicorn race. He was not judgmental enough to restrain it to mere pegasi, for there were surely other methods of flight, but it was something he was excited to take part in nonetheless.
The creation of this particular competition had been one of the hardest, dedicated solely to the fact that it was in the air. Kaj and the other pegasus residents had kicked snow off every tree that was used in the race, and for where the trees had ended placed landmarkers so the contestants could find the general direction. Kaj was eager to watch the race, though a part of him also wanted to participate in it. It reminded him of his storm-filled flight with Cirrus, and he wondered with a distracting warmth in his chest whether she would be there for the event.
Not that he wanted to see her racing or anything...surely not.
"Pegasi and all flighted creatures! Gather round, we are hosting an aerial racing competition!" Vocals boomed out across the fields, hoping to draw a few from the nearby surroundings, perhaps even those who had followed him from the bonfire. He awaited their arrival before he jutted his muzzle at the start of the course behind him, noted by felled logs in a straight line. "Welcome, everyone. The course begins here. The rules are simple, you will follow the snowless trees and then the landmarkers beyond those, until you finally circle back to this spot." Kaj tapped the ground with a forehoof for emphasis, eyes bright with excitement. "Be careful though, there will be random events and diversions that await you! You cannot physically harm any of your fellow competitors, but magic is otherwise free reign if you want to try and boost your own chances or cut those of another!"
Backing away to where Kaj would be standing for the event while they started off (where he would then be hovering in the middle of the circle, keeping a watch on all of them) the golden brute nodded his head at the logs. "You will have a running start, and these logs will be your launch aids. Now, take your positions," Kaj lifted a hoof to point towards the drawn line in the snow a handful of yards away from the logs. He waited until they were all gathered, and then lifted his wings as high and vertical as he could manage.
"Ready? START!"
Welcome to Treetop Turbulence, the flighted/pegasus race! There are no physical obstacles in this race, but NPC will be visiting you for a little mischievous fun! Magic is allowed to either improve your own character's chances or hurt someone else's (or who knows, aid someone else!) All magic uses HAVE TO HAVE A TARGET, as the success will be dice rolled. There will be a 1/3 chance of success, and a success means that target will be set back one space after all the initial NPC rolls.
NPC will be a randomized list of all participants, and those who get either evens or odds for that event will either move forward or back. Those with specific numbers will remain in the same position. There will be no eliminations. The numbers will be out of 6, and the specific numbers will change each new NPC round. Those who are targeted by magic
Have fun! Hopefully any questions can be answered OOC via Skype, or you will see how this all works itself out in the race!
He almost didn’t show up. You must forgive him, he forgets he doesn’t have wings. Not that he had much control over the damn things anyway. It was a risk to show them off, but he was willing. Coming to where the Stormbringer called the blue banded waits for others. The results of the wait made him feel most foolish. There was a slim crowd. The golden at this point was ready to shrug and turn about. But of course that was not the Rohan way. My so much for a vacation in the shadows. This was turning out to be just as much of a spotlight as the mountain stage up north.
So the blue banded steps forward. His face calm but bright. Rohan was after all a gentle soul, always ready to accept and welcome. To mend those that he saw broken, and hearten those for whom he felt pity. Too bad the golden was so different. If you notice the drag in the bay’s steps you’re on the right trail. Before he called out start the bay came to the pale bird. “Race me?” A bright grin lifted, but then a chuckle slipped out. “Its been a while since I’ve raced, so just for fun?” With a grin ever growing, the bay turns to jog for a running start. He’d need it knowing how not well the golden actually flew. At least the lie had pepped him up. False presentment to anyone’s face always did.
Turning to face the logs the bay waited for the other’s command. His stripped wings extended, ready. START! Off he went, and immediately the golden knew it was a terrible idea. Snow flurred each time his wings pumped down in his take off, near blinding him to the logs. It was only by luck he managed to hi the marks, and only by strength he barely was able to throw himself up into the air. His wings pounded hard, lifting his body up, always the strangest feeling. Gliding he had gotten used to, but this was always a rocky road. He barely cleared the trees, but the success of even that small feat was encouraging. The bay rolled out a laugh, for the golden saw little need to stop it. Like the rush of joy after nerves it flowed out. Now was time to kick it up. It was after all a race, and now that he was in it, he was sore to loose. Straining his little used wing muscles the bay gains height and speed. Using magic? Tricks? HA! The golden was just glad he had gotten Rohan’s blue banded butt in the air. That was trick enough.
Feel free to use any force/magic on Thranduil, short of killing him.

Eagerly waiting the start of the first true competition, Ampere leapt at the summons Kaj threw out for the race. She was only mildly disappointed by how few competitors seemed to show, because then it was hardly a fair and true test of her prowess. She shook it off though with a roll of her body, wings stretching out to test the air at her sides. She had become a bit of a homebody int eh Throat and as such was rather use to its seasonably warm thermals to guide her, but she was also more than content in the sky. Her small stature and compact body certainly helped her agility and speed, whether land or sky.
A lopsided grin, rough and wild, fell upon her maw as she glanced over at the bay near her. At Kaj's words, Ampere's muscles expertly shot her forward and soon thereafter up, but not without extending her magic towards ROHAN. She was able to sense the electrical energy inside of him, and as such tugged at the areas by his wings, trying to slow him by physically controlling his wings and making them slower through his body's nervous system. Of course she considered blocking his magic, but not sure if he had any, decided on good old fashioned tripping (of sorts).
Meanwhile, laughing despite herself (in good nature), Ampere soared up and up, her wings pumping with a strength that belied her need to escape the troubles that had been assaulting her lately.
