The ache in her heart would never fade, and with time she had learned to live with it. But knowing that she would one day be reunited with her boy, her lost treasure, was not enough to ease the pain of loneliness. Nothing could do that, not really. But she tried, oh how she tried!
Once before she had tasted the sweet oblivion of a stallions embrace. Now she sought it again, mindlessly, recklessly. To forget, if only for a while, that gnawing clawing void that would swallow her up. Sooner or later.
Into the void she called, screaming her need and despair, a brittle tremolo in an ode to winter, to darkness, to snow and shadows.
