Oh how the world was beautiful!
A trill of laughter fled the girl as she danced, tossing her heels into the cool morning air. When she had laid to bed the grass had been brown and crunchy, and when she woke the world was bathed in a white powder she had never before seen.
So naturally she had to play in it.
Flowers of vivid gold bloomed in her creamy locks, the gentle strands slapping against her neck and forehead as she twirled, another bubbly laugh escaping her. The snow was bitingly cold, but as she played shestayed warm, her breath steaming out into the winter air. Suddenly she paused, lifting her head to the sky, blue eyes wide in wonder as the first flakes of a gentle snowfall began to fill the air.
"So beautiful... What is this?" her misty voice fled into the air, before she shook it off and twisted, apinning on her heels before she promptly flung herself into a drift, laughing delightedly as she rolled in the white stuff.
Rue sat up, snow sticking to her rough winter coat, all signs of malnutrition gone, her small frame covered in winter fat. Thus she hardly felt the cold as she sprang back up, bouncing around. Yet suddenly the ground fell out from beneath her, and with a 'fwoomp' she fell into a deep drift, only the tips of her ears sticking out.
Well this was a pickle
